Jay POV
Phillipines — Unknown Location
Somewhere outside Manila
I woke to the sound of metal. Not the clanging kind. The surgical kind.
Bright white lights burned overhead, making the ceiling blur into a colorless haze. For a second, confusion fogged everything, and I thought I was still in the villa.
But the smell told me otherwise.
Sterile. Cold. Chemical.
I tried to sit up. My wrists were strapped. Panic surged violently up my spine.
"Hello?" My voice cracked. "Where— where am I?"
A door hissed open. Two men entered — the same masked ones from the villa. Behind them, a woman in a white coat walked in, expression carefully blank.
"Good morning, Miss Jay," the woman said. "You're safe."
Safe. My blood iced.
"Why am I here?" I whispered. "Where is my phone? Where—"
"This isn't punishment," the doctor interrupted. "Kaizer simply wants to ensure the… health of your pregnancy."
My breath stopped
. "A medical check?" I whispered. "I didn't agree to that."
"You weren't asked to."
The doctor's tone didn't change. "We have orders to monitor the baby's condition until Sir Keifer returns all the documents."
The world swayed.
"So this is a hostage situation," I said numbly.
"This," she corrected, "is insurance."
One of the guards approached, unstrapping one of my arms — only one — and placed a round disk on my stomach. A fetal monitor.
A low heartbeat filled the room. Steady. Small. Alive.
My baby.
My throat tightened.
"No— don't touch me—"
"It's standard procedure," the doctor said. "Kaizer wants the child to remain unharmed."
I stared at her.
"And if Keifer doesn't obey?"
She didn't answer.
That silence was worse than anything.
Keifer POV
London — The Watson Estate — Secret Room Below the Archives
I hadn't known this room existed. I wasn't supposed to.
In the belly of the estate, behind a panel of false shelving, my uncle had led me down a narrow staircase lit only by old filament bulbs. At the bottom was a vault-like door, and beyond that—
A war room.
Maps. File boxes with falsified names. Encrypted devices.
Red lines drawn between names I'd heard whispered but never confirmed. Kaizer's network. And my uncle's counter-network.
"This is where we start," he said, pulling a chest from under a table. He opened it, revealing documents stamped with Philippine seals.
Passports. Cover identities. Cash. A forged clearance card for Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
"You planned for this," I whispered.
My uncle's jaw tightened. "I planned for the day Kaizer would overstep and force your hand."
I clenched my fists.
"He took her."
"I know."
"He moved her to a medical facility," I said. "They're monitoring the baby. Threatening them both."
My uncle exhaled sharply. "Then we need to move faster than I thought."
He tossed a file onto the table. I opened it.
A satellite photo. A compound. Fenced. Heavily guarded.
"What is this?"
"Kaizer's offshore asset," he said. "Legally it's registered as a private maternity clinic. But it's really where he takes anyone whose existence he needs to control."
My stomach twisted.
"He moved generations of women there," my uncle continued. "Your mother included."
Cold shock hit me.
"My mother was held there?"
"Yes. When she was pregnant with you."
The room tilted.
"He kept her under surveillance," my uncle said, "because she carried the first Watson heir he couldn't shape. She escaped a week before giving birth."
My throat closed.
"Kaizer doesn't fear you," my uncle said quietly. "He fears your child. Because your child has your mother's bloodline — not his."
I gripped the edge of the table to stay upright.
"I'm getting Jay out," I whispered. "And I'm bringing the baby home."
"And Kaizer?" my uncle asked.
My voice dropped to something hollow and lethal.
"Kaizer can burn."
Jay POV
Philippines — The Facility — Examination Room
The doctor tightened the strap on my wrist again, securing me to the bed.
I flinched. "Stop— goddamn it— this isn't necessary—"
"We can't risk you trying to escape," she said gently.
"I'm pregnant," I snapped. "Not dangerous."
Her gaze didn't change. "We protect the fetus. Not you."
The floor fell out beneath me. Before I could respond, the intercom crackled.
"Transport in ten minutes."
One of the guards stiffened. "Is she prepped?"
"Almost," the doctor replied. "We're moving her to the upper wing?"
"No," the guard said. "He wants her in the East Wing."
The doctor froze. So did I.
The East Wing clearly meant something. Something worse.
My breathing sped up.
"Wh— what's in the East Wing?"
The doctor finally looked at me. "Observation." A pause.
"Long-term."
My blood ran cold.
"No," I whispered. "I'm not staying here. I'm not— you can't fucking keep me—"
The guard grabbed my arm.
And for the first time, panic grew into something else. Something fierce. I wasn't alone anymore. I wasn't just protecting myself. I was protecting someone tiny and helpless and impossibly precious.
"No," I said again, louder. "Let go of me."
The guard ignored me, untying the final strap so he could drag me toward the door.
Instinct took over. I grabbed the metal tray beside me and struck him across the face.
He stumbled. The doctor screamed. The fetal monitor tumbled to the floor.
I ran. Bare feet slapping cold tile. Heart pounding like a war drum.
I didn't know where I was going.
I just knew I had to get away— For my baby. For Keifer. For the life we chose.
Behind me, alarms exploded through the halls.
"SECURE THE SOUTH CORRIDOR!"
"She's pregnant, don't hit her—"
"She can't reach the elevators!"
I sprinted anyway. If they caught me, I'd disappear forever. And Keifer would walk into a trap thinking he could save me. Not if I saved myself first.
It's not that I don't trust him. My trust is like a bolder, strong, rock hard. But then..it's—it's hard to get in words. Fear. Maybe. I don't know.
"Shit!!" My voice howled just as I missed an...attack??
Oh freaking buffaloes shit!!!!
god…finally a door.
