Nam Tam laughed softly to herself, her tone syrupy sweet as she whispered in her mind: "Baby, come out now. I promise I won't beat you to death~"
A jade-white bracelet appeared on her wrist, glowing faintly warm. The Void Beast's voice echoed directly in her mind.
"You may call this sacred beast… Lord Eight," it declared.
The corner of Nam Tam's lips curved upward. "Little Eight, Lord Eight, come here. Tell big sis about this place."
The Void Beast snorted proudly: "It's exactly what you see. Since you doubted my abilities earlier, I've brought you straight to a high-level world. This place is similar to my dwelling, so you can sense the extent of my mighty power, khà khà."
Those two smug chuckles instantly dragged the Void Beast's lofty aura crashing down into the dirt.
"Huyen'er, cousin, are you all right?" a panicked male voice called out.
A strong hand suddenly grasped Nam Tam's arm, pulling her behind a tall man's back. Dizzy, she felt a flood of foreign memories rushing into her head.
Looking at the broad figure shielding her, Nam Tam blurted out instinctively, "Cousin?"
Tan Nhac Hien turned his head slightly, a tender smile tugging at his lips. "Don't worry, cousin. With me here, nothing will happen to you."
His slanted eyes and playful smile radiated effortless charm.
He cast a protective barrier around Nam Tam, then strode forward to fight off the monsters. Digging through the influx of memories, Nam Tam realized the beasts were called Demonic Moon Wolves—ferocious by nature, they always attacked in packs.
This was the Xuanwu World, on the Yin Chuan Continent. Here, cultivators were called Xuan Practitioners, and strength was the only law.
There was no emperor on this continent—only the Five Great Families ruling supreme.
Each family dominated the north, south, east, west. Among them, the most powerful was the Zui Ly Clan, an ancient Beast Tamer Family.
What was a Beast Tamer?
Humans born with the innate ability to commune with countless beasts, wield forbidden arts and mystical spells so formidable that even divine beasts feared them.
The body Nam Tam had transmigrated into belonged to Zui Ly Huyen, the clan head's only daughter. Ninth-ranked in the family hierarchy, she was stunningly beautiful—enchanting enough to topple nations—but useless as a flower vase. Unlike the rest of her clan, she inherited none of the Beast Tamer bloodline's powers.
For this, Zui Ly Huyen was considered a disgrace to her family.
In truth, Nam Tam now understood: the girl wasn't talentless at all. She simply had too kind a heart, refusing to exploit spirit beasts. Rather than enslave them, she chose to play the fool.
But such "uselessness" earned her no pity. Shunned by the Zui Ly Clan, she was cast out as a sacrificial pawn. Though her parents loved her dearly, they were powerless before the elders and the other four families, and could only offer her up—betrothed to the King of Beasts himself: a Four-Clawed Bloodvine Serpent, dreaded even by other divine beasts.
"Little Eight, this Four-Clawed Bloodvine Serpent—it's a snake, right?" Nam Tam asked.
"Yes, khà khà," the Void Beast replied. "Don't worry. While its beast form may look ugly, once it transforms, it's handsome beyond compare—an elegant god among men. You should know, the line of little monsters smitten with him could stretch all the way to the North Pole. You're definitely not getting the short end of the stick here. With your beauty and wit, making the King abandon darkness for light is as easy as breathing. My merit points will depend on you."
Nam Tam's lips twitched violently.
She suddenly had the urge to hang this fluffy little Void Beast up and beat it senseless.
Now what was she supposed to do?
