Chapter 19
Julia felt a warmth she hadn't known in months as she closed her notebook. That small smile lingered on her lips, fragile but real. She stood by the window, watching the sun rise higher, painting the sky in soft pinks and oranges.
She knew the road ahead wouldn't be easy. Sadness still hugged her heart tightly. But today, she had taken the first step — opening her heart just a little, allowing a sliver of hope to seep in.
Her mother called from the kitchen, "Julia, breakfast is ready!"
Julia took a deep breath and walked downstairs. At the table, her little brother grinned, his messy hair and sleepy eyes reminding her how much family still surrounded her.
Sitting down, she felt a tiny spark of gratitude. Maybe life could be different — not perfect, but still beautiful.
She smiled again — this time, just for herself.
