Chapter 6 - The jar of wishes

Chapter 6

The night was quiet, only the soft chirping of crickets filled the air. Julia sat at the edge of her tiny bed, clutching a glass jar in her hands. Inside it were small pieces of folded paper—each one a wish she'd written to her grandma.

One read: *"I wish you were still here."*

Another: *"I wish I could make Mama smile again."*

And another, written with a shaky hand and tear-stained ink: *"I wish I knew what to do."*

She held the jar close to her chest and whispered, "If wishes could travel, would they reach you, Grandma?"

The moonlight spilled through the window, lighting up the edges of her face. The room was still, but in Julia's heart, something shifted. Just a little.

That night, she placed the jar beside her pillow and drifted into a dream where she stood in a field of stars, and her grandma was there—smiling, arms open, whispering, *"Don't stop writing, Julia. Your words will lead you home."*

She woke up with tears in her eyes… and a new piece of paper in her hand.

It read: *"Today, I will not give up."*
