Chapter 52 - Telling the Future

Upon hearing the system's prompt, Shen Mu knew it was time to stir up some trouble again!

After he sat down again, Professor X and Beast Hank's attention remained fixed on Shen Mu.

They simply couldn't imagine how a dragon could cross its legs like a human.

Indeed, Shen Mu, sitting on the sofa opposite them, held a wine glass emitting an exotic aroma, his legs casually crossed.

However, Professor X's attention slowly became drawn to the wine glass in Shen Mu's hand.

At this time, he was a genuine, decadent drunkard.

Yet, looking at what he once considered fine wine in his own hand, and then sniffing deeply at the fragrant wine emanating from Shen Mu's glass, he felt as if what he had been drinking was nothing but horse piss.

"Shen, since you left this Universe in the future, I haven't had a taste of your Elven-brewed fine wine in a long time!"

Compared to the Professor's staring, Logan was much more direct!

He skillfully found a glass from the manor's kitchen and handed it to Shen Mu.

Shen Mu was always generous with fellow drinkers, immediately pouring him a full glass.

Logan carefully took a sip, then said with a look of intoxication, "Although it seems to lack some flavor compared to the future, it's still top-tier fine wine!"

Logan knew the wine had a strong kick, so he dared not drink too much before explaining the situation.

"Oh! Logan, are you saying the wine in my glass will taste even better in the future?"

Shen Mu immediately became interested.

"Of course, but in the future, you won't be using this glass anymore, but a blue gourd, something called the Endless Wine Gourd or something, it's a very strange name."

Logan didn't hide anything and spoke directly!

"Endless Wine Gourd, that's great!"

"Drinking from a gourd has always been a dream of mine."

Hearing Logan say this, Shen Mu, overjoyed, took another big gulp.

Now that he had learned teleportation spells, he could visit the Elven Kingdom anytime to replenish his drinks.

"Um, Mr. Dragon, your wine..."

Professor X, holding a wine glass, walked up to Shen Mu, a bit embarrassed, and asked.

"No problem!"

Shen Mu immediately poured him a full glass, and also gestured that the only one not interested in wine here was Beast!

However, Beast merely looked at Shen Mu with a slightly wary and fearful gaze.

The Professor didn't know the potency of this wine; he tilted his head back and drained the entire glass!

"I really was drinking horse piss before!"

After Professor X uttered this, a flush immediately spread across his face, and the next second he collapsed onto the sofa.

"I still have some important things to tell the Professor!"

Logan's face showed a hint of distress upon seeing Professor X drunk.

"That's simple."

After Shen Mu finished speaking, he blew a gentle cold breath towards Professor X, then exhaled a wisp of flame.

Under the alternating ice and fire, a strong scent of alcohol suddenly emanated from Professor X's body.

After enduring the trial by ice and fire, Professor X shivered violently, then quickly sobered up.

"Alright, Charles, you should listen to Logan's story now!"

Although Shen Mu already knew the story, he didn't mind hearing it again from the person involved.

So, Logan began to recount the tragic fate of Mutants over the next fifty years.

Initially, the Professor was quite relaxed.

Because during the Cuban Missile Crisis, he simultaneously lost his best friend and his legs.

And in the subsequent Vietnam War, many teachers and students from the Mutant Academy were conscripted, and many also perished on the battlefield.

Under these multiple blows, Charles completely gave up on himself, not only closing the Academy but also asking Hank for a serum to treat his spine.

That serum was derived from Hank's serum that suppressed his own Mutant gene, and then, due to drug addiction, Charles completely lost control of the dosage he used, causing the serum to entirely suppress his Mutant gene.

From then on, he lost his telepathic abilities, bid farewell to the other voices in his head, but regained his legs.

The current he believed that everyone would eventually die, and whether it was an early or late death made no difference.

However, as Logan's narration deepened, the expression on his face became solemn.

Although Logan's account was very concise, every word revealed nothing but bloody horror.

His future self would experience things a hundred times more painful than before.

"Is this our future?"

"And the source of all this is Raven's assassination?"

Charles's face no longer held its previous demeanor.

Beast, standing by, also felt a chill, because Logan had said he would die, and die early.

The only one still calmly drinking was Shen Mu.

Although he didn't know why he didn't stop this major event of Mutant extinction in the original timeline, since there was a treasure chest reward, he certainly couldn't miss it!

"Professor, the future needs your help."

Because of Shen Mu's intervention this time, Logan and Charles did not have too many unpleasantries.

"Although I regret the fate of Mutants in the future, as you can see, I have already lost my abilities!"

Charles felt somewhat powerless at this moment.

As he spoke, Charles felt a pang of pain in his body.

He then endured the pain and returned to his room.

Shen Mu, seeing this, said nothing; although he knew where Mystique was and what she was going to do.

However, in that case, Charles would lack self-redemption, and perhaps Professor X would not exist in the future, which would make the future much less interesting.

After all, the livelier Earth was, the better; the more powerful individuals there were, the bigger the events they would cause, and perhaps the quantity and quality of treasure chests opened would be even better.

"Why has Charles become like this?"

Logan asked Hank.

So Hank told Wolverine all the suffering Charles was currently enduring.

As Logan, who had also lost a great deal, he understood Charles's pain, and so he was somewhat silent.

Meanwhile, Charles, after returning to his room, was about to inject the serum as usual, but then he saw the photograph on the table.

The woman in the photo was Mystique Raven.

At this moment, Charles thought of their first meeting, when the little girl covered in blue scales transformed into his mother to steal food at home.

And at that time, he had told her: "She wouldn't have to steal anymore; he would protect her."

So, Charles slowly put back the syringe he had picked up, silently enduring the intense pain until he gritted his teeth and pushed through it.

"Logan, I will help you find Raven, but she has been deeply influenced by Erik, that monster, that killer!"

"How will you try to persuade her, to make her willingly return to our home?"

Charles walked out of his room and asked Logan this question.
