Chapter 44 - Ancient One's Invitation

Seeing Shen Mu destroy Mephisto's avatar, a smile appeared on Ancient One's lips.

"Mordo, you will temporarily teach them next. I'm going to see a friend."

After Ancient One said this to her disciple, she opened a portal in front of her, and the other side of the portal was the desert where Shen Mu was located.

Mordo looked at his teacher, who left decisively, shook his head, and continued to guide the new apprentices.

"Don't stop; you must learn not to be distracted by external factors."

"Mastering the Sling Ring is an essential prerequisite for learning magic. Through the Sling Ring, you can go to most places in the Universe."

"Focus your mind and envision your desired destination in your mind. Your gaze must go beyond the World you see, imagining every detail."

"The more focused your mind is, and the clearer the image you conjure in your mind, the faster and easier it will be for you to open a portal."

Mordo diligently guided every apprentice; they would all be the mainstays in various Sanctums, resisting dimensional invasions in the future.

She knew that her teacher, Ancient One, had already begun searching for her successor, the next Sorcerer Supreme.

Although Mordo very much wanted that title, he also knew the responsibility that came with it.

However, when he finally learned that his beloved teacher had been sustaining her life by using the dark power they all despised, his faith collapsed, and he fell into darkness.

Meanwhile, after Shen Mu confirmed that Mephisto had been burned to ashes, he was about to leave.

Suddenly, a bright halo appeared in front of him.

Out of it stepped the charismatic bald woman, the current Sorcerer Supreme—Ancient One—rumored to have died from an explosion of special effects budget.

She wore a bright yellow Sorcerer's robe, emanating a mysterious aura.

One hand was behind her back, and in the other, she held a small wooden folding fan.

On her chest hung an eye-shaped magic ornament, the eye of agamotto, the vessel for the Time Stone.

Shen Mu didn't know what he was thinking, but after seeing Ancient One appear, he instinctively took out a strangely shaped fruit from his system space.

"Want to try some? It's an elven specialty."

Seeing the fruit offered to her, even this long-lived Sorcerer Supreme was momentarily bewildered.

Before meeting Shen Mu formally, she had not failed to check many possibilities through the Time Stone.

There had been conflicts with him, and also caution and distrust.

However, this direct offer of fruit was truly beyond her expectations.

"Are all you Dragons so enthusiastic?"

Ancient One asked with a smile on her face.

The folding fan in her hand instantly disappeared, and she unceremoniously took the fruit directly from Shen Mu's claw.

Then, even more disregard for her image, she bit into the fruit, and her eyebrows raised slightly, saying, "Hmm, it tastes good!"

"I wonder if Sorcerer Ancient One has heard the saying, 'He who takes a bite is beholden, he who takes a hand is indebted.'"

Shen Mu also took a fruit from his system space and threw it into his mouth.

"Heh! All your actions really don't seem like those of a savage and ferocious Dragon; you're more like a shrewd and worldly human merchant."

Ancient One chuckled at his words.

"Too much courtesy is never a fault; this is what the ancients on Earth said."

Shen Mu didn't care at all, chewing the fruit in his mouth as he replied.

"I am very curious about your origin. Many years ago, I observed the timeline, and since your appearance, many predetermined events have changed."

"Who exactly are you?"

After Ancient One finished eating the fruit in her hand, she elegantly wiped her mouth and asked with a gentle expression.

"Me? I am Shen Mu. As for what you said about changing time, I know nothing about it."

Shen Mu spread his two claws very candidly, saying helplessly.

Ancient One carefully observed the Dragon in front of her.

All life trajectories indicated that this Dragon had only been born for just over four years.

However, the terrifying life fluctuations that emanated from him were moving.

It seemed that every cell in his body was filled with explosive, immense vitality.

Ancient One had no doubt that the lifespan of such a creature would be longer than the entire history of human civilization.

This was a life form Ancient One had never encountered in her life.

"You are truly a miracle. I have never seen such a terrifying and peculiar fellow as you."

"I have seen Asgardians who call themselves gods, but they appear so weak before you."

"Immeasurable potential, perfect life characteristics, unparalleled growth speed."

"You are naturally divine, the strongest life form to appear on Earth in the future; that green giant will not be stronger than you."

Ancient One slowly retracted her gaze, saying in surprise.

Shen Mu naturally knew who she was referring to as the green giant: Hulk.

It's just that this was a future event; Hulk hadn't been born yet.

So Shen Mu very cooperatively showed a hint of doubt: "Who are you talking about?"

"You will meet him in the future."

"Although I am not sure where your appearance will lead the fate of Earth in the future, I hope you never get involved with dimensional demon gods or become an enemy of Earth."

Ancient One's face remained gentle, but there was a hint of firmness in her tone.

As the Sorcerer Supreme who had guarded Earth for several centuries, she had resisted countless invasions from other dimensions.

The mission passed down through the line of Sorcerer Supreme was to be the Guardian of Earth, and Ancient One was an outstanding inheritor of this mission.

"Of course, although I am a Dragon, I do not like tyrannical slaughter."

Shen Mu looked at the somewhat slender Grand Sorcerer in front of him, feeling wary but not overly nervous.

Because Shen Mu had never thought of standing against Earth from beginning to end.

A small part of the reason was the lingering thought from his previous life, and the larger part was knowing that Earth was being watched by a group of big figures in the Universe.

Before gaining the power to contend with them, it was better to be a bit cautious.

"Would you like to be a guest at Kamar-Taj? There should be things there that interest you."

Ancient One suddenly invited Shen Mu.

"I couldn't ask for more!"

"Originally, I had planned to visit the Sorcerer Supreme's Sanctum in the Himalayas."

Shen Mu naturally had no reason to refuse upon hearing this.

"Then come with me!"

As she spoke, Ancient One extended a hand and drew a circle in front of her, and a golden portal instantly appeared.

On the other side, a group of diligently practicing magic apprentices could be seen.

Shen Mu didn't think much and followed her directly through the portal.
