Chapter 3 - Hoverboard

He didn't know how to use the hoverboard?

'I think I should ask him.'

Thinking so, Aziel called out to Zephyr who was about to head ahead.

"Wait... Zephyr, do you know how to use the hoverboard?"

Zephyr froze in his tracks.

He turned around, placed his left hand on his chin, and pondered for a while.

A few moments later Zephyr pursed his lips.

"I think you have finally gone mad."

Aziel's face turned serious and he replied.

"It's not like I don't know how to use it. I was just checking if you still know how to use it."

"And why do you think that I would forget how to use the hoverboard? Let us get going, you will find out automatically."

"Wait-wait, at least tell me the theory."

Zephyr let out a sigh and spoke.

"Okay then... First, you have to direct the flow of your mana at your feet, then the hoverboard will absorb it and keep flying, but you have to continuously supply it with mana or it will deactivate."

Aziel grinned as he intently listened to the theory, careful to capture every word Zephyr spoke, and pursed his lips.

"It looks like you haven't forgotten the theory yet. Good work there, man."

After that, Aziel told Zephyr to go ahead as he would be following right after.

"All right, now he is gone I can learn it easily."

He said to himself, clenching his fist in determination.

Aziel tried to stand on the hoverboard, which was still flying a few inches above the ground without the supply of mana.

As he stood on the board, he closed his eyes.

He began to try to feel the mana flowing inside him.

But he couldn't.

He tried again but...

Failed.

Again.

Failed.

Again.

Failed.

...

On his thirteenth try,

A warmth began to pool inside his chest, spreading slowly through his veins.

It was like a gentle current pulsing with energy.

His skin tingled, humming with energy as the mana flowed, which felt both foreign and familiar.

The sensation was almost liquid, like molten light coursing through him, matching the rhythm of his heartbeat.

Each pulse of mana sharpened his senses, heightening his awareness.

He felt an electric rush, a subtle hum beneath his skin as the mana filled every fiber of his body.

Then he slowly directed the flow of mana towards his feet like water flowing in a river.

The hoverboard immediately reacted to the mana as the black outlines emitted a golden hue pulsing with energy.

The hoverboard slowly levitated high in the air and accelerated forward with high speed [80/km per hour].

Aziel initially struggled balancing on the hoverboard, but slowly and steadily he got a grasp of it.

Now that he had learned how to use the hoverboard, he was ready to go.

Slowly retrieving his phone from his pocket, he called a specific person.

Ring. Ring.

No answer.

Ring. Ring.

-Hello, what's the matter Aziel?

-I can't tell it on call, come back home wherever you are.

-Okay.

Cut.

Zephyr figured out from Aziel's tone that something serious must have happened with him.

He turned halfway through the academy and headed towards Aziel.

...

'After all, I don't know where the academy is situated.'

"Hehehe."

Aziel ruffled his head as he let out a heartfelt laugh.

Right in front of him stood Zephyr,

Who was looking at Aziel with a cold expression as if he was human garbage.

'So, why did you call me back?'

'I thought... it would be better if we go together, hahahah.'

Letting out a sigh, Zephyr said.

"Okay... Whatever, now come fast."

"As you say commander."

...

Aziel now stood in front of the establishment.

He couldn't believe his eyes.

The Arcanum Academy a.k.a. one of the top academies in the human continent.

It was as large as a city.

Towering spires and a grand castle-like central structure dominated the skyline, surrounded by smaller unique styled buildings.

Cobblestone streets wound through the area, with floating islands, trees, and a river running through the ground.

The academy bustled with students and instructors, all bathed in a magical glow.

It housed everything from living rooms to entertainment areas.

Not to mention game stations and shopping malls.

While Aziel was looking around the paradise, at least what he considered it,

The digital wristband on his left hand flickered, a holographic screen emitting a blue light.

He raised his wrist and read the information written on the screen.

'Wait, what is this about Arcanum points?'

"Aziel...?"

Aziel snapped his head towards Zephyr as he pursed his lips.

"Aziel, in which class are you?"

"Uhmm... I am in Y113."

"Oh really? Same here."

"Really?"

"Yep."

"Let's go together."

As Aziel stepped forward, he halted in his steps and probably the same went for Zephyr.

A black holographic screen flickered into existence.
