Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8

Games

Dwitch Streamer Gallery.

A place Kim Soohyun sometimes browsed for ego-searching, where all sorts of rumors and smear posts about streamers popped up. A new thread had appeared.

[Taesan Banned Live LOL]

(A screenshot of Taesan looking dumbfounded after being banned in real time)

He went to watch an audition, but when his fans swarmed the chat, he got banned lmaooo

?? Wasn't Taesan one of the interviewers?

ㄴ Only for Round 2. In Round 3 he's just spectating.

Damn, that was savage

ㄴ Yeah, the contestant just straight-up banned him lol

Tbh, Taesan's fans messing up all the audition streams today was kinda annoying

ㄴ Are you dumb? He was literally boosting their viewers. How's that "messing it up"?

ㄴ Did you not see the chat? The streams were getting clogged up.

ㄴ Then just ban him like that contestant did, lol

Because of the delay, Taesan didn't even realize he was being banned—his face was priceless hahaha

Honestly, he kinda deserved it

Truth be told, Taesan's "audition participant tours" had already been controversial.

The issue? His viewers causing too much disruption.

Other The Six streamers were doing the same kind of viewing, but only Taesan's fans swarmed in droves, spamming the chats.

Taesan's own audience might have found it funny, but to the regular viewers who had been genuinely enjoying the participants' streams, it was frustrating.

[Taesan's a toxic bastard, fr]

The chat's getting trashed in real time and all he does is "don't spam, guys~ lol."

He was just trying to farm clips for his own stream while ruining participants' first broadcasts. Seeing him get banned was chef's kiss.

That's just your opinion

But yeah, it was kinda bad

He was literally giving them exposure and you twist it like that, lol

Didn't you see how viewers spiked when Taesan showed up?

ㄴ Other streamers boosted numbers just fine too, but only Taesan left chaos behind.

[The fact is, Taesan disrupted streams. Period.]

Why else would that contestant ban him?

Because he was getting in the way. That's it.

All this "he was trying to help" or "good intentions" crap? Nope.

The fact is, he was messing things up.

True lol

This is facts

Stop twisting it;;

If it was just exposure, the contestant would've let him stay. Why ban him otherwise? You're the one twisting it.

ㄴ No, you're twisting it lol

As always, controversy brewed. And since The Six's audition project was fairly high-profile, with Taesan being a recognized mid-tier streamer, the community went up in flames.

My first stream ended without incident.

By the time I hit "End Stream," the viewer count was at 70—pretty much top tier among all the contestants.

[So you're basically the most popular contestant, right?]

"Did you even listen to what I said?"

[You literally just said you're top tier.]

"That's inflated. Once the others prep real content, I'll get pushed back."

That much was true.

Most of my viewers treated my stream like a radio show centered on my voice. Once flashier content appeared, the audience would gravitate there.

[Then why don't you do content too?]

When Hyejung asked over the phone, I shook my head.

"I'm saving that for later."

[Why?]

"Because I'm Miro—the needle in the pouch."

[Sometimes you really spout nonsense, you know that?]

"Content's artificial. Better to show more of my natural charm."

[So what, you're not just planning to lazily copy other people's ideas later, right?]

"Ah, I'm at the restaurant. Talk later."

[Hey, I'm serious—]

Click.

'Sharp girl…'

I hung up and walked into the sundae gukbap (blood sausage soup) shop ahead.

"Hello."

"Welcome!"

"One bowl of sundaeguk, please."

After ordering and taking a seat, I naturally pulled out my phone and checked the community.

Since every contestant had streamed yesterday, I wanted to see what kind of reactions were floating around.

But—

"What the hell?"

The board I usually checked was in total chaos.

[Knew Taesan would screw up lol (1)]

[But didn't the contestants' viewer counts go up? (4)]

[Celestial Project Contestants' Harsh Reality Summary (14)]

[Why Taesan's a Problem .txt (8)]

"Damn, it's a mess."

I closed the tab.

From female Kim Soohyun's memories, I knew the board in this state was hell—full of agitation and fabricated narratives. Reading it would do nothing but rot my brain.

"Enjoy your meal~"

I shut my phone, nibbled some side dishes, and drank cold water while the staff brought out my sundaeguk.

"Thank you."

The taste was decent. Cheap, filling—no wonder I came often.

After finishing, I stepped outside, lit a cigarette in the alley beside the shop, and let my thoughts wander.

As I drew in nicotine and gazed blankly at the blue sky, the thread title I'd glimpsed earlier resurfaced.

'…Wasn't Taesan that streamer who popped into my stream and got banned?'

He'd even been a second-round interviewer. How had he ended up as a controversy magnet?

Well, his viewers had swarmed and ruined the chat that time.

"Phew…"

I filled my lungs with smoke, mulled it over, then decided to drop it.

Not my problem.

'To be fair, he was a nuisance.'

I flicked away the cigarette butt, stomped it out, and headed for a nearby supermarket.

Since becoming female Kim Soohyun, I'd developed an odd craving for sweets.

I stocked up on drinks for my next stream and a pile of discounted ice cream, then returned home.

"There's still plenty of time before the stream. What should I do?"

Streaming was scheduled for the evening. For now, it was bright, early afternoon.

When I'd first become female Kim Soohyun, I'd been fired up about "self-improvement."

"Ha…"

But when it came down to it, it just felt bothersome. Or maybe I just didn't know where to start.

Maybe that's why they say "starting is half the battle."

What good was the will if I never started?

And right there on my monitor was the easiest self-improvement I could think of.

My eyes fell on a certain game icon.

[League of Legends]

"Hm… don't VTubers usually stream games too?"

And the better your skill, the more enjoyable it is to watch.

So, getting comfortable and competent with games—wasn't that a kind of self-improvement as a virtual idol?

Leaning back in my chair, I clicked the client and tapped in my login.

With a cheerful background tune, the screen loaded, and my username appeared in the corner.

"…Guess I should change that one of these days."

Female Kim Soohyun had two accounts.

One was a secondary, harmless nickname she used when playing casually with acquaintances.

The other was her main account—the one she'd played on before—sitting at Diamond IV rank.

And the nickname of that main account was…

'…I don't even want to say it.'

I forced my eyes away from it and queued up a match.

I'd gotten more accustomed to the game now, and since I always managed to pull my weight, maybe I could climb at least one rank before streaming tonight.

"YOU BASTARDS! Give me back my LP!"

LMAOOOOO

Losing to mid-golds now

Honestly you did fine this game

Your teammates were trash

Washed up, confirmed

Former pro and now mid-tier streamer Steel leaned back in his chair, rubbing his neck as the defeat screen lit up his monitor.

"No, but I played well, right? Look here."

Though his reflexes had dulled with age, Steel still had his sharp game sense. So when he lost, he often replayed the match to analyze it with his viewers. Now was one of those times.

Just queue again

Show us the Baron fight loss

Stop reviewing and just play

If you had pushed Nexus after Baron, you would've won

"Let me show you this one part, then I'll queue again."

Some viewers pressed for another game, but Steel's pride wouldn't let him skip the review. Besides, plenty of people watched his stream to actually learn from him. Doing at least one review per session was practically etiquette.

He saved the replay and was about to load it when—

[Donation: Kang Mooncheol, ₩50,000! Thank you!!]

Steel-hyung, can we get a Kang MooncheolTV judgment? There's 500,000 won on the line.

"500,000? Okay, let's do it. What's the nickname?"

Kang MooncheolTV.

Sometimes, League players who argued over whose fault a loss was would bet money on it. Steel acted as the "judge," reviewing the game to decide who was more at fault, taking a 10% cut as commission.

Now, one such player had requested it—already sending Steel a ₩50,000 deposit.

He could've pocketed it and ignored the case, but with half a million won at stake, it was perfect clip material. He ditched the replay review and quickly accepted the Discord friend request from the client.

"Alright, this will be the 51st Kang Mooncheol case."

And there goes the replay review lol

₩500k hahahaha

Dude's loaded

Burning ₩500k just for pride lol

The viewers, excited for the rare spectacle, blew up the chat even more.

'Easy content.'

Steel grinned ear to ear, adding the client and clicking the code to enter the pre-made Discord channel.

"Hello."

[Yes, hello, Steel.]

Ohh lol

Nice voice

Still not reviewing last game, smh

Top 1% of League's whiners haha

Inside the Discord was a man with a pleasant baritone voice, greeting him.

"Ah, are you the one who requested this?"

[Yes, that's me. The other guy said he'll join soon.]

"So you both agreed to this?"

[Yeah, he refused voice at first, but I trashed him a bit, so he got mad and said he'd come.]

"…Are you insane?"

LOLLLLLL

Classic toxic gamer

He didn't want to voice? Is he a kid?

"…This isn't a scam, right?"

Sometimes people bailed after calling him in.

The money wasn't the issue—he already had the ₩50,000 deposit—but wasted content was always disappointing.

[No, no. He's really pissed. He even prepaid half of that 50k himself.]

"Alright then. Can I get both of your in-game nicknames to check match history?"

[Yeah, I'll drop them in chat.]

"Okay, the first one's normal enough… pfft."

Steel glanced at the two nicknames that popped up in the Discord. One was just a generic English name. The other…

"Let's pull them up on OP.GG."

He typed in the nickname on the stats site.

[Ah, that's not mine—that's his.]

"Wow, this guy's actually pretty good."

Look at that name lol

LMAOOOO

"IwannaSuckUdyrsNipples"

I'm dying hahaha

The handle read: "IWantToSuckUdyrsNipples."

A name lusting after the pecs of Udyr—the bare-chested, muscle-bound middle-aged champion. Both Steel and his chat burst out laughing.

Ding—

Soon after, another user entered the Discord.

"Oh? He's here."

['IWantToSuckUdyrsNipples'? You made it? Say something.]

There was silence at first, then a faint mic-click sound—followed by a voice.

[You son of a bitch.]

The moment Steel heard it, he was shocked.

But more than shocked, he was thrilled. Because this was golden content.

Why?

[Hey. Answer me.]

That angry, low-pitched voice… belonged to a woman. And it was a very pleasant voice at that.
