If he caught her going into his room without her permission, there was no telling what he'd do to her.
As she racked her brain trying to think of a way to get her hands on the ledger, the man returned from his call and found her stabbing her steak to pieces with her face scrunched up into a frown.
"Your salary won't be able to get three plates of that steak. Continue stabbing it and I'll make you pay for it." He couldn't contain it any longer and tossed his cutlery at his plate.
The sound of them touching his plate caused her to snap out of her reverie and she also happened to hear him.
"I'm sorry." She quickly apologized and lowered her eyes to her plate.
"How does it feel to work for the first time in your life?" The man asked after a moment of silence.
"I was unable to keep up the first month, but now that I've totally gotten used to it, it's not as bad as I thought it'd be." She replied, little too cheerfully.
