Chapter 1 - chapter 1 : mugen

In the distant future on the continent of Afrinis, viruses have spread rampagingly, infecting people and turning them into monstrous "Lost Ones" who endlessly seek blood and killing.

On a cold winter night, in a narrow alley, stands Kaito Yuta, a 16-year-old boy.

He gazes in contemplation at the state this cursed world has fallen into. Suddenly, he hears the faint cry of a small child. His eyes instantly shift into strange, glowing eyes.

Across the street, a Lost One is chasing a young child, aiming to spill his blood and steal his soul. The child stumbles and falls to the ground, his body trembling uncontrollably as tears fill his eyes. The Lost One stands before him, raises his hand, and delivers a punch that pierces through solid rock—but just as the blow lands, the child vanishes.

Confusion flickers across the Lost One's face. He looks up to see Kaito, who has already carried the child to safety.

Kaito says, "Don't move from here. I'll handle him."

In that same instant, Kaito disappears—reappearing mid-strike, delivering a powerful blow to the Lost One, his yellow eyes blazing intensely.

At that moment, the child whispers, "When did he move from here?"

The Lost One rises again, rushing toward Kaito at full speed. They collide with tremendous force, both sent flying backward. The Lost One leaps into the air, aiming a downward strike at Kaito, but the moment he descends—Kaito vanishes.

The Lost One strikes the ground, shattering it beneath him. He rises, looking frantically left and right. Then, from behind, a faint voice whispers:

"Mugen."

He turns swiftly—but before he can react, his eyes are gone. He collapses to the ground, unconscious.

Kaito stands before him and mutters, "This is what makes it so difficult."

"To free someone from the virus, you must cut out their eyes."

"But if you cut out their eyes, they'll live the rest of their lives blind."

At that moment, Kaito returns to the boy and sees the intense fear evident in every part of his trembling body.

Kaito sits beside him, gives a wide smile, and says, "Don't worry. It's over now."

At that very moment, two figures sit atop a nearby building.

One says, "So this is the power of Mugen—one of the Ten Joma."

The other replies, "We'll deal with him later. Right now, we have an important meeting."

Meanwhile, Kaito returns to a strange underground location. He knocks on the door and enters, finding three companions waiting inside:

Rinmaru, Alfa, and a girl named Nozomi.

Alfa asks, "Why are you late, Kaito?"

Kaito replies, "Sorry. I had something important to do."

Nozomi says, "The latest news reports say two of the Ten Joma's powers have been discovered. It's possible one of them is among us."

Kaito responds, "Why should I fear them?"

Nozomi steps forward, slaps him, then grabs him by the collar and says, "What did you do this time? How did I end up with such a stupid friend?"

Kaito snaps back angrily, "Who are you calling stupid?"

Rinmaru steps between them, pushing them apart, and says, "Now's not the time to argue. Kaito will stay here until we confirm whether he's being targeted or not. Understood?"

Kaito says, "I don't care," then heads into the training room. He begins to focus, breathing deeply with intense concentration. He closes his eyes, then opens one—filled with blood, glowing yellow, with black lightning-like lines running through it. He whispers:

"Mougen."

Instantly, he teleports toward a punching bag and begins attacking it with extreme speed and ferocity.

Elsewhere, a meeting of several mysterious figures takes place.

One says, "The power of Mougen is also a virus—but unlike other viruses, it grants strength to the infected. If this is true, then all Ten Joma might be exactly like him."

Another asks, "What exactly are his abilities?"

The first replies, "His ability is seeing the paths of the future. He perceives your future movements as fragmented images called 'frames.' Then, he can delete the frames he doesn't want."

"The way he uses it is by seeing his future frames, selecting the most suitable one, then deleting the others. This allows him to instantly teleport to wherever he wishes. This makes him incredibly fast—his speed may even surpass human perception itself. We don't know the full extent of his powers, but one thing is certain: he is a major threat."
