Seth walked into the bakery, determined to see Emma again. He ordered a coffee and waited, watching as she expertly crafted drinks and chatted with customers.
As she handed him his coffee, their fingers touched, and Seth felt a spark of electricity. Emma smiled, and he couldn't help but smile back.
But as he took a sip of his coffee, he realized it was ridiculously sweet. He grimaced, and Emma laughed.
"Too sweet?" she asked, giggling.
Seth nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed. "Yeah, I'm more of a bitter guy."
Emma playfully rolled her eyes. "Well, I guess I'll have to try again."
As she remade his coffee, Seth couldn't help but tease her. "You know, I'm starting to think you're trying to poison me with sugar."
Emma laughed, her eyes sparkling. "Maybe I am. Maybe you're just too sensitive."
Their banter continued, and Seth found himself relaxing in Emma's presence. For the first time in a long while, he felt like being himself.
As he left the bakery, coffee in hand, Seth realized he was actually looking forward to seeing Emma again. Maybe this whole "bride" thing wouldn't be so bad after all.
