Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 - Don't Underrate a Woman

Get up and protect me Marcel said, as he struggled to get up.

He had a scar on his forehead, and it was bleeding.

Vanessa searched for her gun, damn! I can't find my gun. She looked at the incoming henchmen; they had already shot several bullets in their direction, but not even one had reached them.

Marcel had got up and was running.

"Gosh, I have never seen such a coward", Vanessa thought as she hurried behind him.

"What the heck, shoot 'em Marcel said, What sort of bodyguard are you? I asked the security department to send me a bodyguard, and they sent me a woman".

"Damn, you dare underrate and underestimate a woman, what a spoilt, bad-mannered man", she thought.

She picked up a wooden long bat on the floor as she steadied her pace and continued running.

"What the hell is that for?" Marcel cleaned the blood oozing from his forehead as he twisted in agony and shock at the blood.

Keep on heading for the exit, sir, she turned her head to the pursuing henchmen, and gritted her teeth as she hit the wooden bat on her left hand.

"I'm gonna deal with those men", resolve met her eyes.

Marcel kept on running, not looking back.

I have to get close enough to them if I am to land a strike. She cleaned her forehead as sweat dropped off. How hard can this job be, and why are those men after Marcel Davidson's life? The question was whether they were sponsored or if it was just some deal terms that weren't met, as the rumour had spread.

"Search the area, they may not have gone far". A husky voice with a dark scar on his chin ordered.

"So, I guess this is their leader," she grinned. "If protecting such an arrogant man is gonna earn me a few bucks, I don't mind kicking some ass".

She sprang from where she hid and landed a vicious blow on the supposed leader, the man staggered back as he pointed his gun at Vanessa, getting unconscious. Vanessa landed another blow on him as he fell flatly on the ground, she removed an ID and hard drugs from his jacket as she glanced at it.

Jake Potter, she read his name aloud, a businessman and married. She scoffed.

I have to be quick, she thought as she ran after the two other henchmen, flinging her jacket aside as she chased, the two men stopped at a midpoint between two directions, looking at each other.

"Which direction did he take?. Once I get that fool, I am gonna blow him into pieces, because of him, the boss is delaying our pay" the first one said, swirling his gun in the air.

Who the hell was that woman with him, his wife or girlfriend? She looked like one of these security agencies, we better get rid of her quickly. Those people spell trouble, the second one said hitting the wall.

A splatter of broken glass on the ground startled the men as they looked behind them immediately.

"Go check it out," the first one said, pointing at his colleague".

He swallowed hard as he walked towards the direction of the noise, clutching his gun like it was his life, he looked at a small room that was decorated in roses and red colours. Anyone there he said, pointing his gun at the air as he walked into the room, he walked to a large table that was covered in jugs and paper files. A rat ran past him as he shuddered, wheew, that was nothing, he muttered, turning back.

Bang. Vanessa sent the henchman flying, hitting the ground beneath him with a loud thud. She exhaled as she rested the bat on her left shoulder, grinning.

Damn, a voice came behind her as she struggled to hide.

The henchman came forward holding his gun with his two hands.

"Who the hell is there? Come forward, or I will send you back to hell immediately," he screamed.

Vanessa came from behind and kicked him. The henchman staggered back as he gripped his gun to shoot, but Vanessa was faster. She landed a blow on his head, and the henchman fell on the ground, his eyes half-opened, looking at the ceiling.

Saul Hamilton, she read his name. Businessman and single, why were all the henchmen she checked their IDs? Businessmen, could it be a coincidence?

She gasped, Marcel.

She took to her heels running for the back door.

"What if one of them had gotten to Marcel? What if he were struggling with them right now, and he got injured or worse, killed? No matter how rude or arrogant he is, I still have a duty to protect him. If something bad happened to him, I wouldn't take it so easily". Panic crept through her heart as she ran faster.

But why should you care, Vanessa? I mean, it would totally be his fault if anything bad happened to him.

She swung her hair.

"Not that I care if anything happens to that fool, he totally isn't my type. Gosh, Vanessa, what's wrong with you? It's your job to protect him, and not whether he is your type or not. What makes me cold the most is the fact that I have grown attached to him for some odd reason. Is it actually possible to like or love an arrogant or possessive person or worse, a woman freak like him, so hot that every girl would kill to get him?".

Is it, she thought.

C'mon, Marcel, where are you? Don't leave me behind. Sweat oozed from her forehead as she fell on the ground panting.

"Marcel may be in danger". She thought as she got up running faster.

She bumped into Marcel and they fell on the ground. Vanessa lay on him while Marcel was on the ground. Their faces were not far off from each and what was worse, Marcel was bringing his lips closer.
