As a self-made mafia billionaire, Xavier Hernandez had always gotten what he wanted. At thirty-three, he was still unmarried and uninterested in relationships. That was until he met Chelsea, a fiery and ambitious woman who had caught his attention. After she declined to give him her number, he became determined to make her his, no matter the cost.
"She works at A&E company, one of the top marketing companies in the city," his informant said, handing him a black tablet with Chelsea's bio. "She's known to be the company's treasure, making tons of profits for them. She's the head of the sales department and is said to be very ambitious and good at whatever she does."
Xavier smiled, intrigued by Chelsea's profile. "My type," he said, his eyes gleaming with interest. "I want that company and her in it," he added, his voice firm and authoritative.
Later that day, Chelsea found herself face-to-face with Xavier in his office. "You've been promoted," he said, his smile hinting at amusement. Chelsea's eyes narrowed, unsure of what game he was playing. "I didn't ask for a promotion," she replied, her tone cool.
"I'd like to decline the offer," she added, taking two steps back. But Xavier's response was swift and decisive. "It can't be declined, darling. You've been promoted to be my assistant. Your duties and responsibilities will be mailed to you."
Chelsea's eyes flashed with anger. "I'd like to resign," she said, her voice firm. "I'll send in my resignation letter immediately." Xavier's expression turned cold, his eyes narrowing as he watched her walk away.
"You think you can just walk away from me?" he growled, his voice low and menacing. Chelsea tossed over her shoulder, "Watch me, darling." As she left the office, Xavier's eyes fixed on her retreating figure with an intensity that bordered on obsession.
Chelsea barely made it down the hallway before a familiar voice called after her. It was Marissa, her closest colleague in the sales department.
"Chelsea! What the hell just happened in there?" Marissa whispered, glancing nervously toward Xavier's office door.
Chelsea exhaled sharply, shoving a strand of hair from her face. "He tried to promote me—without my consent. To his assistant, of all things."
Marissa's eyes widened. "His assistant? That's not a promotion. That's a trap. Everyone knows what he does to the women who work that close to him."
"Exactly why I told him no." Chelsea's jaw clenched. "I'm resigning."
"Are you insane?" Marissa hissed, grabbing her arm. "Chelsea, this is Xavier Hernandez we're talking about. People don't just say no to him. He doesn't hear the word 'no'—ever."
Chelsea pulled her arm free, her eyes burning with determination. "Then it's about damn time someone taught him how to listen. I won't be bullied into being his puppet."
Marissa's voice trembled as she lowered it. "I've heard stories… people who cross him don't just lose jobs. They disappear, Chelsea."
Chelsea leaned closer, her lips curving into a bitter smirk. "Let him try. If he thinks he can destroy me, he'll find out I don't go down quietly."
Marissa's hand shook as she whispered, "Please… just be careful."
Chelsea squared her shoulders, watching the man vanish into Xavier's office. "Careful isn't in my dictionary. Survival is."
A few minutes later after Chelsea submitted her resignation letter and left the company, Xavier's anger simmered. He bellowed for his loyal enforcer, Salvatore. "Blacklist her," he growled, his voice deadly. "I want her name on all industry lists, every corporate database. No one – not a single business – is to hire her."
As Salvatore carried out Xavier's instructions, Chelsea was unaware of the storm brewing against her. She applied to various companies, but every door she tried to open was slammed shut in her face. Finally, one company accepted her application, but the interview was a disaster.
The director's expression turned cold as soon as he heard her name. "I'm sorry, but the offer no longer stands," he said, throwing a newspaper at her face. Chelsea was shocked and humiliated, unsure of what was happening.
The receptionist's words only added to her confusion. "I think you've been blacklisted in this company," she said, her voice sympathetic. Chelsea's eyes widened as she realized the truth. She was being blacklisted, but why? Who could be behind this? She thought of Xavier Hernandez, the new CEO of the A&E company. Was he the one responsible for her blacklisting?
Determined to find answers, Chelsea visited a local grocery store that had a job posting. The old man who owned the store seemed hesitant to hire her, but Chelsea's persistence paid off. "You're being blacklisted by Omerta," he said, his voice low. "And Omerta is Xavier Hernandez."
Chelsea's world came crashing down around her. She realized that Xavier was behind her blacklisting, and she vowed to take revenge. "I'll kill you," she spat out his name, her voice sharp with anger.
As she left the store, Chelsea felt a sense of desperation wash over her. She had always been independent, never relying on anyone else for her success. But now, it seemed like Xavier Hernandez was determined to ruin her life.
She thought about her past, about how she had worked hard to get where she was. She had always been driven, always pushed herself to be the best. But now, it seemed like none of that mattered.
Her eyes welled up with tears as she thought about the unfairness of it all. She had done nothing to Xavier Hernandez, yet he was determined to destroy her. She felt a surge of anger and determination. She would not let him win. She would find a way to take him down, no matter what it took.
As she walked home, Chelsea's mind was racing with thoughts of revenge. She would not rest until she had brought Xavier Hernandez to his knees. She would not rest until she had proved that she was not a woman to be trifled with.
