Lin Chen finally agreed with everyone to resume the live-streamed fortune-telling session at three in the afternoon, then closed the broadcast room.
He pulled Harley Quinn up with a grin."Come on, beauty, let's get some rest first."
Harley nodded obediently.
Lin Chen quickly lowered the rolling shutter.
Zhizhi's eyelids twitched before she left. That motion was far too familiar. The Taoist priest is definitely doing that kind of business again, she thought bitterly. We're in the same line of work, so why is he ignoring me?!
Meanwhile, in her seaside apartment in Gotham City, Catwoman stared at the now-closed live broadcast room, her heart full of frustration.
"Don't—don't! No! I can't!"Her voice trembled with indignation."That shameless Taoist! That hateful Taoist!"She groaned dramatically. "Ugh… I'm going to be depressed…"
An hour later,
Lin Chen was "discussing yoga moves" with Harley.
Suddenly—crack!A stone smashed into his window, shattering the glass.
"Damn it!" Lin Chen rushed to the window. "Who—who dares to smash my glass?!"
Outside came the roar of a motorcycle engine.
A slim, leather-clad figure with a stunning figure sped off on a black motorcycle.
Lin Chen narrowed his eyes. "Was that the little wild cat?"He shook his head helplessly. "Injustice!"
At three o'clock sharp, Lin Chen reopened the live broadcast.
"Water friends, did everyone have a nice nap?"
The chat flooded instantly. Clearly, many viewers had been waiting right on time.
"Master, I feel embarrassed breaking your rest time!""Stop being so humble, you're too Versailles!""I'm watching alone—so sorry for intruding!"
Lin Chen chuckled. "Alright, water friends, who wants their fortune told today?"
The screen scrolled madly with comments.
He randomly selected a user named Martin, a black man in his mid-twenties with an ordinary appearance.
"Hello, Daoist. Didn't expect to be this lucky today," Martin greeted.
Lin Chen smiled. "Shuiyou, your Yintang is glowing and your face looks radiant. I'd say something good has happened recently."
Martin grinned wide, showing his white teeth. "Master, you're spot-on!"
The viewers joined in the fun:
"Young man, you're too green. The Taoist never gives out blessings for free.""Yeah, look at that grin—he's gonna be crying soon.""This little Taoist priest really knows what he's doing!"
Even the girl from Paradise Island was watching eagerly.
"Upstairs, the Taoist priest gives perks sometimes! Search for 'eight-pack abs of the fortune-telling priest'—there's a whole thread about it."
"I don't know that guy! I'm his black fan," Wonder Woman typed, then hesitated before searching.Moments later—
"I can't deny it… he's actually in great shape."And soon, she was thoroughly absorbed in browsing the photos.
Martin glanced at the chat, nearly crying. "You guys are too much! Anyway, Taoist, I have a question."
Lin Chen nodded. "Go ahead, Martin."
"Daoist, I'm facing a decision, and I'd like your advice."
"Let's hear it."
"I used to work in a FAW repair shop, not making much money. But recently, I won a lottery jackpot—thirty thousand dollars."
The viewers gasped.
Martin continued, "Now the redemption center's asking how I want to receive the money. If I take it all at once, more than half gets taxed. I'd only get about five million in total. But if I take it over ten years, I'll end up with around six million net."
Lin Chen smiled faintly. "Martin, what you need is a financial advisor, not a fortune-teller like me."
The chat exploded again:
"Brother Martin, you're so handsome—let's talk business?""Hey man, I've got a money-making idea. DM me.""Lucky guy!""He's not asking for advice, he's showing off!""Wait, people actually win the lottery? I thought that was a scam.""Taoist! Read my numbers for tomorrow's draw!"
Lin Chen took out his calculator, tapping a few buttons."Martin, if you invest five million at a compound interest rate of eight percent, you'll have around thirty thousand in ten years."
"But let's be real—you're going to spend some of it. So the actual return won't be that high."
"If your annual return is about 2.6 million, that roughly equals five million at present value."
Martin nodded slowly. "The Taoist makes sense… but ten years feels so long. If I take it now, I could buy a mansion. Otherwise, I might not afford one later."
The viewers burst into laughter:
"Martin's getting free financial consulting now—jackpot squared!""Even the police said the Taoist's got professional knowledge—he's talking compound interest and discount rates!""If I had to pick between Martin and the Taoist, I'd choose the Taoist any day.""Nah, I'd choose both—and then take care of the Taoist!""Clever girl up there!"
Lin Chen laughed lightly. "Alright, enough about money. Martin, let's stick to the fortune-telling."
He activated the Water Mirror Divination Technique, and his brow furrowed.
Seeing that expression, Martin's heart sank. "Master, what's wrong?"
Lin Chen sighed deeply. "Martin, to be blunt—you'll be dead in three years."
"What?! Daoist, please tell me you're joking!" Martin's body went cold.
If it weren't Lin Chen saying it, he might've cursed him outright. After all, he was young—how could anyone joke about dying in three years?
Lin Chen shook his head. "I never joke about fate."

hat exploded again.
"Did Martin's money attract robbers?" asked the Black Bat."Would anyone really steal that kind of money?" Nini typed in disbelief."Figures… it's always something weird in Gotham.""Stupid Taoist, hurry and tell us how Martin dies, or you're as fragile as glass!" typed a certain little wild cat.
Lin Chen sighed. "Didn't you already smash my window?"
Catwoman, startled to be called out, immediately hid her phone and said nothing.
"Alright, stop guessing," Lin Chen said. "Martin, you'll be killed by your financial advisor."
"Financial advisor?! Wait—Master, you mean you?" Martin blurted, confused.
Lin Chen coughed awkwardly. "No. A man named Kent. He earns your trust, swindles all your money within two years, and when you try to report him, he panics—and kills you."
Martin exhaled in relief. At least it wasn't unavoidable. He could simply avoid this Kent guy—or skip hiring an advisor altogether.
"Thank you, Daoist. If not for your warning, I wouldn't have known. You've really saved my life."
He smiled, then sent several rocket gifts before preparing to log off.
"Wait," Lin Chen called out. "Actually, that financial advisor only scams you for about three million. But you took a lump sum of five million, right?"
Martin frowned. "Then… where did the rest of my money go? That's nearly two million missing!"
