Chapter 11 - Aftermath.

The news about Ohara struck the world like a hurricane. Morgans started to flock his news Coo around the whole world delivering the information he's learnt.

(Baltigo Island.)

Dragon saw the news with a combination of anger and disgust.

"I knew they were cruel and ruthless but I never thought that the World Government would destroy an entire island including the innocents, even when they attacked Galzburg to lock Douglass Bullet they spared the civilians but this…" Dragon clenched the paper in anger.

"What did you expect Dragon-boy?! These sons of bitches only care of themselves!" Ivankov, a tall… person with defined appearance exclaimed while in strange poses.

"I know as much, Ivankov. But even during God Valley the Government wasn't as out in the open as they are now. And don't call me Dragon-Boy." Dragon.

"What should we do…? Got any ideas?" Ivankov.

"I'll go there to pay my respects and search for anything of value in case their information survived, afterwards we'll head to the Sorbet Kingdom and take a look on the Kuma situation." Dragon.

"HEEEEEHAAAAAW!! TIME FOR AN OKAMA REVOLUTION!!!" Ivankov.

Before he could look at Dragon, the tattooed individual had already left.

"That guy has no sense of class… oh well, I guess I'll be seeing Ginny soon, HEEHAAW!!" Ivankov.

(Punk Hazard Island.)

Vegapunk shed some tears at the newspaper he's reading.

His friend Clover was dead and alongside him the entire island of Ohara, the unvaluable research that's taken years to collect was gone in a single day.

But he would retain his memory, alongside the voices of the past that Clover confined him. The only issue was that kid…Kazuto D Kaizo.

Being a member of "that" race will definitely spell trouble for him in the future, so he better make sure he'll prepare everything until the news get out.

But for now, he'll need to leave Egghead and return to Ohara for the sake of seeing what's left of them.

(Marine HQ.)

Kuzan was not having a good day, week, he was not feeling good. The balance of his view about "justice" is waving. He convinced himself that he was being merciful about leaving one of them survive, but in turn forcing the other to die haunted him.

The kid with blue hair wasn't just strong, he had something that Kuzan clearly lacked: A straightforward and unwavering will.

Kuzan believed that whatever the government said was the justice that was absolute and just to all, but everything he's seen has just been the opposite.

Yet he still stubbornly pledges to his dream of bringing justice to this world… he just can't define justice anymore. Ohara was destroyed, he condemned a girl to a life of crime and killed her friend in a moment of anger.

Perhaps, just letting things happen would be easier than thinking too much… yet that won't alleviate him from the memories of that island.

He felt lazy, lazy-er than usual at least, so he'll do what he does when he needs to clear his mind: Take a nice bike ride across the ocean on a bridge of ice.

(Back with Kaizo, 3rd person POV.)

Waking up with sore injures suck, waking up and then seeing your home completely burnt up and damaged sucks even more.

But Kaizo has to keep calm in order to survive this, he checked on his injuries again and noticed that some parts still felt rigid, his arms in specific hurt beyond believe, must've been all the vibrating he did with them.

When arms are frozen, muscles and joints become stiff, circulation slows, and nerves react poorly to stress. Vibrating them very hard in this state can cause micro-tears in the muscles, strain on the joints, and irritation of the nerves, while also risking pain from sudden changes in blood flow once the arms start to warm.

However, since it only happened once and lasted for about a minute, the damage this time is temporary, such as soreness, stiffness, or tingling, rather than permanent.

Kaizo took some pain-relieving ointment and applied it again, he felt a small burning sensation before he calmed down. He changed his clothes and headed out.

Walking past a destroyed town is weird, passing through a town that you've visited before destroyed is even weirder.

He has a nice memory and the events are fresh, which is why he can still "see" how life was in this town before… the kids running, the adults working, it was such a passive town, except for the assholes but they're everywhere.

Without wasting any more time, Kaizo left the town and headed to the one place he didn't wanted to go: The Tree of Knowledge… or at least what remains of it.

Kaizo saw that the whole tree was burnt down and even fell, seeing a burnt entrance on the side Kaizo made his way inside and narrowed his eyes.

The scholars' bodies were all charred and burnt to a crisp.

The smell of burnt flesh and blood was still pungent in the air, it was disgusting… revolting… and a heartbreaking sight.

Kaizo inspected the bodies but could barely recognize the bodies, except for two of them.

One of them had a particular thing, it's pinky finger bone had a chipped corner, this was caused when Kaizo let a bear trap inside the tree, the person slipped and his finger got caught.

This is why Clover banned Kaizo's entrance… and this was also his body.

He died while carrying a book…

Kaizo immediately carried his burnt body and took it outside, he gently laid him on the ground and caressed his face as tears burst through his eyes.

(Flashback)

It was the night of Robin's birthday and Kaizo was being checked by the doctor as he was very bruised from the bear fight.

"YOU'RE AN IDIOT!!! HOW COULD YOU FIGHT A BEAR BY YOURSELF!!!" Clover reprimanded Kaizo after his bear battle.

"Tis but a scratch… ya should've seen the other guy." Kaizo smirked cockily.

Clover clobbered him in the head.

*BANG*

"IT HURTS!!!! What the hell old man?!" Kaizo.

"You think it's a big riot to just fight a freaking bear and come back almost dead?! You scared Robin!!" Clover.

"I already apologized… besides, only Robin's opinion matters anyway, it's not like you're my dad or anything." Kaizo.

"Alright, tomorrow morning I'm adopting you." Clover.

There was a pregnant pause.

"Ah?! Fuck that! I don't want to get adopted, much less by you!" Kaizo.

"I'll say things straight brat, you're a mess at taking care of yourself, so I'll help you but don't you dare to pull a stunt like this ever again, understood?!" Clover.

"Eat my shorts. I'll do whatever I want regardless." Kaizo.

"That's fine as well, but don't forget to ask for help when you need it. If I have to help you again like this I'LL CLOBBER YOU IN THE HEAD!!" Clover.

"Tch! Do what you want." Kaizo closed his eyes and looked at the other way, a small smirk appeared on his lips.

(Back to the present)

Kaizo was now kneeling besides Clover with a hole besides him.

"When you adopted me that day… I was actually happy. When I left the orphanage and you let me live by myself, I liked that as well. Maybe it's because there's been always a mix up of emotions inside of me that I can't be like a normal kid, but I enjoyed the idea of having you as my father." Kaizo started to monologue.

"Thank you for everything…dad." With that, Kaizo gently placed Clover's body on the hole and covered it.

He knelt and prayed for Clover as tears kept flowing down his cheeks.

After he calmed down a little he wiped the tears and proceeded to look for the other recognizable corpse.

Unlike Clover, whom Kaizo knew, the only defining trait here was a strand of silver white hair that survived the fire… Nico Olivia.

He didn't had much interaction with Robin's mother but he felt that at least her remains must be dealt with properly.

Some hours later and everyone got buried near the tree of knowledge.

[Here lies the bodies of Ohara's best researchers. May God welcomes them into heaven and give them peace.]

[Here lies Professor Clover: Beloved Adventurer, Scholar, and Father.]

[Here lies Nico Olivia: Beloved Scholar and Mother.]

But that wasn't the only thing Kaizo wrote, a bit further from their graves was also another sign.

[Ohara might be gone, the world might think we're evil, but they'll learn the truth soon enough. Ohara's memory shall be remembered and the World Government must realize that they've just taken their first step into destruction.]

That was more of a "fuck you" to them other than anything but still he had to put some fear on them.

He of course wouldn't be too blatant about it, can't risk himself being alive and all. Walking around the tree Kaizo found thousands of books that were thrown by the lake, he wanted to take them out but feared some vessel from the WG might appear and destroy them, at least on the lake they'd be considered useless.

Joke's on them, Scholars here use a special type of ink that prevents damage from water, Kaizo never knew how Clover got his hands on that but he didn't cared, it was time for him to address the elephant on the room.

Walking through the shore was quite depressing when you notice that the giant body of your giant friend is gone and now only some ice pieces remain, some even had blood on them.

The kid sighed as he assumed the worse, he didn't had it in him to be positive right now but still chose to believe that Saul is at least 95% dead.

Regardless of his assumptions, Kaizo raised a small tombstone for Saul, ironic I know.

[Here lies Saul: Good friend that we just met for a few hours, never answered my question about female giants.]

"Heh…" Kaizo let a small dry laugh before erasing the last part of the sentence.

Without further ado he left and went back to what remained of the treehouse. He looked at what the resources he had left: some spare wood, ropes, nuts, raisins (eww), a compass, a map from the West Blue, the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia that he booked earlier, spare medicine, 20.000 Berries in coins and finally an empty flask.

With no reason to stay whatsoever, Kaizo started building another raft, due to the amount of resources Kaizo could only make a small raft compared to the one he built for him and Robin.

Since he didn't had enough cloth for a sail he had to scavenge for every piece of thread he could find. A few more hours later the Raft was complete.

It was subpar to Kaizo's standards but it floats so, it'll do.

Kaizo looked back at Ohara one last time and sighed before embarking on a new adventure.

(Elsewhere.)

On a nearby islet came ashore a giant with burn injuries all over his body, his mind barely conscious as he mutters the words:

"Robin...Kaizo..."

The giant soon limped himself into the island.

(Back with Kaizo.)

He rowed his little raft aimlessly at the sea, he wasn't looking for an uninhabited island so that he could heal and train properly by himself for at least a few years. He needed strength to survive in this ruthless sea so he would focus all his energy into that for the time being.

'3 years should be enough.' Kaizo thought as he spotted an island on the distance.

Kaizo arrived and looked for any signs of life but only found animals and plants, exactly the place he was looking for. After reverse-engineering the raft he built himself a cozy adobe near the shore and brainstormed about what he needs to do.

'First thing first, I need to heal properly. Training while injured won't do me any good other than take more of my time, I'll meditate and find a way to increase my oxygen absorption, I read somewhere that that's good for strengthening the body.' Kaizo.

Inhaling more oxygen helps the body because oxygen is essential for producing energy. When you breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and is carried by red blood cells through the bloodstream to every cell. Inside the cells, oxygen is used in a process called aerobic respiration to create ATP, the molecule that powers muscle movement, brain activity, and organ function.

With more oxygen available, the body can generate energy more efficiently, delay fatigue, and recover faster. Extra oxygen also supports sharper concentration, steadier heart function, and quicker healing, since tissues receive the fuel they need to perform at their best.

And yes, it's essentially the same as Demon Slayer but here's the catch, he's gonna have to find a way to increase the Oxygen inhaled by himself, there's no system or shit so… yeah, I'm not cheating.

'Secondly: My body must grow acclimated to all the martial arts I'm learning, I was called an expert of many but master of none in my past life, this time I have to do it correctly.' Kaizo.

And if you remember he only got the known ones out of the way earlier, which ones? Read back if you weren't paying attention 😉.

'And finally I have to make sure I keep my body strong but on the leaner side.' Kaizo,

A large muscular body has various downsides, the most obvious one is the large areas filled with blind spots, the second is the inability to move flexibly due to the muscles getting in the way of the joints, as obvious as this may seem, it was still a valid concern for Kaizo.

With that out of the way Kaizo stepped out of his house as he looked at the sky.

It was clear and the sun wasn't shining directly on him so it was even more beautiful.

'Clover, Saul, Olivia, Robin. I promise you all I'll become the strongest in this world, and Robin, I'll find you once I get stronger!' Kaizo clutched his fist and sat down to meditate.

And just like that, we enter yet another Timeskip.
