Cyrus woke up.The sound of rain had died down, now it was evening. He turned his head on his right. His eyes gazed over Soren. He was shivering and whimpering. His eyes are closed. His whole body was shaking.
"Soren?" Cyrus called, voice softer than before, he crawled over to Soren.
Cyrus placed his palm against Soren's forehead. It was hot, really hot. He has a fever.
"Damn it," Cyrus huffed, "you have a fever, idiot."
He takes off the cloak from around his shoulder and puts it around Soren's shoulder. He watches his chest rise up and down.
Cyrus looked out of the cave opening. It will be dangerous to venture out in the evening. He looked over at the fire as it had already died out.
Cyrus got up and took his now dried shirt from under the fire. He put it over his head.
He ventured more into the cave to get wood. He looked around. The cave can be scary when it's dark. He splayed his hand and conjured a small fire ball in his palms for light.
He did find some wood. He brought the wood out and placed it following Soren's pattern. He then lit them again. The fire blared into life once more.
He went back to Soren's side, "jeeze, you're still hot." Cyrus decides to ignore the double meaning behind his words. He shook Soren. "Come on, lay down near the fire." He whispered, voice soft.
Soren blinked, still hazy from the fever with a splitting headache. His voice raspy, "the rain stopped?" He rubbed his eyes in hopes that the headache would go away.
Cyrus nodded his head, "but it's evening." He managed to help Soren near the fire using Soren's shirt as a pillow and his cloak as a blanket. He managed to get Soren comfy enough to fall asleep again.
Cyrus plopped down beside Soren and watched his movements carefully. He flinched everything Soren twitched in his sleep. Cyrus doesn't care about Soren. He just doesn't want to be alone. He does not care about Soren.
Does he?
No he does not. He tells himself. He doesn't want to be alone. That's why he is taking care of him. Oh God let that be true.
Cyrus gently reaches out and runs a hand on Soren's smooth face. Whitened pearly skin and hairless pores. Soren didn't grow any body hair or facial hair. Cyrus greeted his teeth. Why is Soren better than him at everything? This guy can sleep but still manages to look handsome. Like the male version of Snow White waiting for his prince to save him.
Or sleeping beauty after idiotically pricking himself in the tip of his finger. Jeeze, why is he even taking care of this prince wannabe…?
Right. Because he doesn't want to be alone.
Cyrus had slept through the whole day. So at the moment he wasn't sleepy. Besides if he falls asleep. The fragile and vulnerable version of Soren will fall over and die overnight.
He sighs, watching Soren sleep. He would rather watch point dry but looking how Soren's chest rose and fell every breath, maybe watching him sleep wouldn't be so bad after all.

Cyrus hadn't meant to fall asleep. But it just happened whilst watching Soren sleep. But he was woken up in the most uncultured way.
The sun hit Cyrus's eyes, stirring him awake. But it wasn't the cold hard ground at the cave. But someone's back. Cyrus could tell by the way his face was bumping as someone was walking with him on their back.
Cyrus was still half asleep. He probably was watching Soren sleep for a long time.
"You up, sunshine?" Soren's voice cut through the annoying chirping of the birds.
"Yeah," Cyrus doesn't know why he is responding to the idiotic Soren, his voice raspy from sleep, "you have a fever…" he is trying to keep himself from drifting back to sleep.
Soren was quiet for a moment, "Yes, the fever had gone down." He talked again, "you should go to sleep again, I will wake you up after we have reached the orphanage."
Don't tell me what…" Cyrus couldn't finish his sentence as sleep overtook him again.
Soren shifted Cyrus on his back into a more comfortable position on his back. Smiling to himself. He remembers how the usual angry chuwawa spoke so softly to him back in the cave.
The orphanage was coming into view through the leaves and trees. Good, cause Soren's legs were killing him and he needed to lay Cyrus down on a real bed.
Need to make sure his 'rival' gets enough rest.
