Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 The Beast Pirates is Broke As Hell

Bazel waved goodbye to his three newly confirmed close friends.

"I'll wait here for your good news. Make sure you come back safely, my dear friends!!"

The presence of Rampo, Bomba, and Kabu quickly faded into the distance.

Noticing the silent atmosphere around him, Bazel turned his head, his gaze quickly sliding from King's face to Toki's.

"What? Is there something on my face? Why are you looking at me like that?"

Hanafuda's mouth twitched, "Since when were the Beast Pirates such people-oriented, good pirates?"

King: "We don't even have our own ship. What era are you talking about where we 'make the ship our home' or whatever?"

Kaido fell silent for half a minute, then slowly raised his hand and gave Bazel a thumbs-up, "Bazel, inviting you to join the Beasts Pirates was the best decision I've ever made in my life."

"It's a shame you're not using that brain of yours to be an official in the World Government. The renovation plan for Wano Country is hereby handed over to you, full authority."

"I'm not picky about living conditions, but if I have a choice, I'd prefer to live in a better environment."

Olga patted Bazel's leg and sighed, "You're definitely a genius."

"Bazel-kun~"

Toki stepped forward and gently hugged Bazel, her eyes filled with emotion.

"Thank you."

'Thank me?'

'Why?'

Countless question marks flew through Bazel's mind.

'Wait a second.'

'What did he do?'

'I just didn't want to live on that bare, gloomy Onigashima.'

'We will be the rulers there. Why would we live on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere when we could live in the Flower Capital or on Mt. Fuji with its beautiful cherry blossoms?'

'Shouldn't the strongest live in the best environment, consolidate power, and exile those who oppose them to remote areas?'

Anyway, Bazel couldn't understand why, in the original work, Kaido lived on Onigashima and gave the most beautiful place to Orochi.

But in this life, he was here, so he naturally had to make changes.

Forcible subjugation wasn't his style. Bazel preferred to use his brain to solve problems rather than his fists whenever possible.

Otherwise, what was the point of having eight brains? They'd just go to waste.

Anyway, the person who will take the blame has already been chosen.

Besides, he already had someone picked out to take the fall.

Once the timing was right, they could justifiably take over Wano Country.

As for Oden…

Right now, it was still 1492. He wouldn't return for another five years.

Five years was more than enough time for him to completely make that place his own.

By then, Oden might even have to come to the Beasts Pirates to ask for a job.

"Bazel-kun, I've decided!"

"Huh? Decided what?"

Pushing off the man's chest with her hands and taking half a step back, Toki's expression was resolute.

"I will do my absolute best to help you!!"

"That place is not only my home, but it will be your home from now on too!"

Before Bazel could respond, Kaido suddenly coughed heavily several times.

"If you want to get lovey-dovey, go find a bush to do it in tonight. There are other people here."

Only then did Toki realize the alternative meaning of her words. Her face flushed red, and she hid behind Bazel.

"Hey, hey, Kaido, that's going too far." Bazel said.

But before he could go have a 'chat' with Kaido, King stopped him.

"Since we've decided to go to that Wano Country, or whatever it's called, Kaido-san, Bazel, Hanafuda, we should probably make some plans for the future."

Hanafuda waved his hand, "Kaido-sama, although I've decided to join the Beast Pirates, I hope to have a certain degree of freedom."

"My hobby is collecting Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits. Rather than following you to garrison that Wano Country, I'd be better off collecting more Devil Fruits on the high seas."

"If I'm lucky enough to get my hands on a few more Ancient Zoan fruits, it would be a significant boost for the future Beast Pirates."

King didn't say anything. He just looked at Kaido, waiting for the captain's orders.

"Bazel, your brain works the best. What's your take on this?"

Faced with the ball Kaido tossed him, Bazel scratched his head:

"Judging by the current trend, letting Hanafuda operate freely is the best choice."

"The combat power of the three of us is enough to station ourselves in Wano Country. However, the issue of manpower is indeed crucial. Alright, here's an idea."

"Hanafuda, while you're collecting Devil Fruits, spread the fame of our Beasts Pirates' name as well."

"As long as our reputation is strong enough, powerful pirates will naturally seek us out to pledge their allegiance."

"As for us..."

Bazel didn't rush to continue. Instead, he stroked his chin and fell into deep thought.

"There are three immediate objectives."

"The first is to go to Wano Country. That goes without saying."

"The second is Pure Gold. We need to find that lantern fish that swallowed most of the Pure Gold as soon as possible."

"The construction of the Desire Capture Machine cannot be delayed. Whether it succeeds or not, it's a shortcut for us to reach the top."

Kaido and King both nodded in understanding.

"As for the third..."

"Big Bro Kaido, the Beast Pirates can manage without a pirate ship, but we must have one. It's a matter of face."

Bazel stared at Kaido.

"The third objective is the Beast Pirates' flagship. You've been to many places with the Rocks crew before. Do you have any connections in that area?"

"Let me think." Kaido fell into thought.

A moment later, Kaido licked his dry lips, a hint of madness gradually appearing in his eyes.

"Connections, no. But I know a good place where we can get a branch of the Treasure Tree Adam."

'Treasure Tree... Adam?'

King seemed to remember something, his expression changing slightly, "Kaido-san, you're not thinking of going to Elbaf to steal from those giants, are you?!"

"Wororororo..."

Kaido's laughter grew increasingly wild as he looked at King, "Why not? We're pirates. Since when have you seen pirates pay for anything?"

"Besides, Arber, do you have any Berry?"

The corner of King's mouth twitched, "Kaido-san, don't talk about me, you don't have any Berry in your pockets either, do you?"

"Exactly!"

Kaido hefted his kanabo onto his shoulder, his Conqueror's Haki suppressed but ready to burst forth.

"If pirates see something they want, they just take it!"

"As for shipwrights, just put a blade to their necks, and they'll naturally build our ship for us."

"Wait, Kaido."

Bazel stopped the excited Kaido, feeling a headache coming on.

"I get it. I'll figure something out. Making a trip to Elbaf is less efficient than just going straight to Wano Country."

Kaido and King exchanged a look, triumphant smiles on their faces.

This kind of brainy stuff wasn't really for them, so it's better to let Bazel handle the headaches.

His brain was fresh and worked well anyway.

"Then we'll split up." Hanafuda said at this time, "I'll continue collecting Ancient Zoan Devil Fruits and spread the name of the Beasts Pirates."

"You all focus on finding the Pure Gold and the materials for the Beasts Pirates' ship."

"Kaido-sama, Bazel, King, I'll find a way to get to Wano Country in a year. Let's meet there then."

Hanafuda was direct by nature. After saying his goodbyes, he left straight away.

Olga waved at the man's retreating back, "Have a safe journey~~"

Kaido didn't suspect him at all.

In his view, Hanafuda was a man he had acknowledged. He would absolutely not lie and run away.

"Bazel, King, we'll stay here at most 3 days. If those little people aren't willing to join after 3 days, we leave."

"No problem." Bazel agreed.

Meanwhile, deep underground on Green Bit, in the Tontatta Tribe's home.

"Rampo, you're saying those pirates are willing to let our Tontatta tribe coexist equally with humans?"

Gancho's aged face was full of disbelief.

The Tontatta tribe's origins date back nine hundred years. Their ancestors were once comrades of the Warrior of Liberation.

They participated in the great war against the rebel army.

But around the time of that great war, their ancestors fell into a trap set by the Donquixote Family.

They became slaves.

It wasn't until over a hundred years later, when the Donquixote Family, who had enslaved the Tontatta Tribe, collectively moved to Mary Geoise, that the little people gained their freedom.

"But don't you think this is too far-fetched? Why would humans want to coexist peacefully with us?"

"What if it's like the Donquixote Family nine hundred years ago, tricking us into becoming slaves again? What do we do then?"

"I thought so too at first."

Rampo recalled the black wings and flames behind King, feeling like he had heard of these characteristics somewhere before.

"But that big human didn't seem like he was lying. And there was one person among them who felt very familiar..."

"I heard them call him Arber. A handsome human with black wings, bronze skin, and snow-white hair."
