Chapter 76 - Chapter 76 Root's Fall

The moment Kakashi's Sharingan lit up, the atmosphere in the underground passage became instantly oppressive.

The last trace of pretense faded from Danzo's eye, leaving only pure coldness.

"It seems I indeed underestimated you, Kakashi." His hoarse voice held an unreadable mix of approval and threat, "No matter. Since you wish to walk into the darkness yourself, I will grant your wish."

He offered no further words, merely tapping his cane lightly on the ground and giving a cold glance to his side.

"Fuu."

"Yes."

Fuu didn't hesitate. He stepped forward, his hands forming hand seals. His figure instantly blurred as he launched an attack towards Kakashi.

Kakashi's eyes sharpened instantly. The Sharingan spun rapidly as he gripped White Fang and met the charge.

White Fang and kunai collided in the dark passage, sparks flying densely.

Fuu's taijutsu was clean and efficient, each move aimed at vital points.

But Kakashi's movements were even more ferocious. Years of experience at the Anbu had made him intimately familiar with this style of combat.

Every block was perfectly timed.

Fuu seemed to realize pure Taijutsu wouldn't win this. As they passed each other in a blur, he suddenly turned, his hands forming a strange hand seal.

Mind Body Switch Technique!

However, the moment his Chakra began to gather, Kakashi left an afterimage behind and instantly appeared at Fuu's side.

Chirp, chirp!!!

A screech, like a thousand birds crying out in unison, suddenly tore through the entire underground passage!

Blue-white lightning gathered in his palm, illuminating his profile with a pale light.

Facing this S-Rank Ninjutsu condensed with extreme Lightning Release Chakra, Fuu's pupils contracted violently. He wanted to dodge, but his body's speed couldn't keep up with his reflexes.

He could only watch as that ball of lightning grew larger and larger in his vision.

Just as the lightning was about to pierce his heart…

A barrier composed of countless tiny black dots, emitting an ominous purple aura, soundlessly materialized in front of him.

The Raikiri slammed fiercely into the strange barrier, but there was no expected violent explosion.

The blue-white lightning was rapidly eroded and disintegrated amidst a sizzling sound, ultimately turning into nothingness.

Torune stood before Fuu, his eyes, hidden behind goggles, looking calmly at Kakashi.

"Don't ignore me."

Kakashi abruptly pulled back, looking down at his right hand.

The moment it contacted the venomous insect barrier, an excruciating numbness shot up his arm.

If he hadn't immediately used Lightning Release Chakra to forcibly stimulate his body internally, his entire arm might have been crippled.

"Enough of this boring probing." Danzo's cold voice rang out again, full of impatience.

"Both of you, together."

He leaned on his cane, a cold killing intent flashing in his single eye, "Dispose of him."

Danzo sneered inwardly, 'Hmph, Hatake Kakashi.'

'This son of the White Fang, Hiruzen's lapdog... knows too many secrets.'

'Since he delivered himself today, taking advantage of the village's chaos is the perfect opportunity to completely erase this unstable element.'

"Yes, Danzo-sama."

Torune and Fuu responded simultaneously, advancing on Kakashi from left and right.

The battle situation instantly became two against one.

Facing the two, Kakashi's breathing grew heavy.

Fuu continuously threw kunai attached with explosive tags from all sides, sealing off Kakashi's movement options, trying to create an opening for Torune.

Torune's attacks were simple charges forward. His taijutsu wasn't flashy, but every move was lethal.

Seeing those hands wrapped in purple Chakra, Kakashi didn't even dare let his clothes touch them.

Moreover, he had to spare attention to observe Danzo, who remained unmoving in the rear.

Kakashi used a kunai to parry another thrust from Fuu, using the force to lean back and avoid a chop from Torune coming from the side.

In this brief transition between offense and defense, he left a nearly irreparable opening.

A flash of killing intent appeared in Torune's eyes. His other hand already became a blur, aiming straight for Kakashi's heart!

And it was at this very moment…

The pitch-black darkness behind the battling figures, deep and bottomless, lit up without any warning.

No sound. Only three bolts of black and white lightning, condensed to an extreme.

Like meteors tearing through the night sky, they struck suddenly!

The lightning was so pure. Black and white, two completely opposite colors, were eerily intertwined, emitting an aura that could annihilate all things. The air itself was torn apart in its wake.

"What?!"

Fuu, who is focused on pinning down Kakashi, was a Sensor-type Shinobi. He detected this sudden Chakra fluctuation.

He abruptly turned his head. His always expressionless face revealed a look of utter horror.

His senses told him the target of this lightning was the supreme existence in his heart!

There was no time to think. No time to judge.

All action, at this moment, was pure instinct.

"Danzo-sama!"

Fuu let out a hoarse roar, abandoning all suppression of Kakashi.

He left an afterimage where he stood, moving at his fastest speed, and without hesitation turned his back to shield Danzo.

Squelch…!

A sickening sound of flesh being pierced rang out.

The first Chidori Sharp Spear accurately pierced through Fuu's back, exiting through his chest, instantly shredding the heart that beat for Danzo.

Then, the lightning, its momentum undiminished, brutally pierced through Danzo's aged body.

The other two lightning spears nailed through Torune's left shoulder and right thigh, pinning him to the wall behind him.

Black and white electric arcs frantically flickered at the wounds of the several men.

Fuu's body stiffened violently. He looked down in disbelief at the bowl-sized hole in his chest.

And at the lord who had been pierced before him.

His mouth opened, wanting to say something, but what gushed out was only blood mixed with fragments of internal organs.

Finally, the light in his eyes completely faded. His body slid down slowly, collapsing on top of Danzo.

As for Torune, who was nailed to the wall, blood was trickling down the surface, pooling into a small puddle on the cold ground.

The entire underground fell into dead silence, broken only by Torune's ragged breathing from the extreme pain.

He clutched his right arm, which had also been pierced by a lightning spear, looking at the sudden turn of events before him with disbelief and fear.

He instinctively tried to activate the venomous insects within his body to counterattack.

But it was too late.

A chakra short blade, crackling with lightning, soundlessly pierced through his heart.

It was Kakashi.

With that, Danzo's two most elite guards were completely annihilated.

From the darkness behind them, footsteps sounded, slowly approaching.

A young boy with two swords at his waist stepped onto the blood-soaked ground. Each step seemed to fall on the beat of death's drum.

An indescribable oppressive feeling emanated from him.

His face showed no expression as he walked, like the Shinigami returned from hell to reap the final sins of this place.

Finally, he stopped before the old man who was still clinging to his last breaths.

Danzo's body convulsed violently. The hole in his chest gushed with blood, his life force draining away rapidly.

He raised his head with difficulty. His cloudy single eye struggled to focus, finally seeing clearly the figure who had delivered the fatal blow.

That young yet cold and severe face... those eyes devoid of any emotion...

He certainly recognized him.

The only Uchiha left in Konoha.

"You... evil... Uchiha brat..."

Danzo's voice was as hoarse as a broken bellows. Speaking these words seemed to drain the last of his strength.

His eyes were filled with resentment and hatred.

'My ambition was still unfulfilled, I hadn't yet ascended to that position... How could I... how could I die...'

'Die at the hands of an Uchiha!'

This last thought flashed through his mind before the light in his eyes completely dimmed.

His head tilted to the side as he breathed his last.

"Sasuke..."

Kakashi's voice was dry. He looked at the terrifyingly calm young boy before him, momentarily at a loss for words.

He had anticipated a brutal fight to the death. He had anticipated possibly risking his life here.

But he had never imagined the outcome would be so... clean and efficient.

Sasuke didn't respond to him.

He gave Danzo's corpse a cold glance, turned, and prepared to leave.

Right at that moment, a sudden change occurred!
