Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Uchiha Shisui's Kotoamatsukami

Uchiha Kakuyama searched all over the Uchiha compound and finally found Uchiha Shisui in a secluded spot by the river.

As the strongest of the new generation of Uchiha, Uchiha Shisui not only lacked the arrogance and haughtiness of the Uchiha Clan, but was also very kind and gentle.

When Uchiha Kakuyama found him, Uchiha Shisui was sitting by the river, quietly gazing at the water.

"Shisui, you're here again. What are you doing?" Uchiha Kakuyama walked over and greeted him with a smile.

Hearing the voice, Uchiha Shisui shifted his gaze from the river. Seeing that it was Uchiha Kakuyama, he looked back at the river and replied,

"I just got back from a mission and am sitting here. What about you? Why are you here?"

"You're hiding here for peace and quiet again. I'm different; I have something to discuss, and I came here to find you," Uchiha Kakuyama said directly, without beating around the bush.

Uchiha Shisui heard the serious tone in Uchiha Kakuyama's voice and looked back at him, his usually calm expression also becoming serious.

"What is it? I've never seen you this serious before."

Thinking about the recent tension between the Uchiha Clan and the Village, Uchiha Shisui thought something else had happened, and his heart couldn't help but feel a pang of worry.

Seeing Uchiha Shisui's expression, Uchiha Kakuyama, his close friend since childhood, knew what he was worried about and reassured him,

"Don't worry, nothing has happened in the Clan recently. I have something personal to discuss with you."

Uchiha Shisui let out a sigh of relief and smiled:

"If you have something to say, just say it. Why so serious?"

Looking at Shisui's smiling face, Uchiha Kakuyama said nothing, directly activated his Chakra, revealing his Three-Tomoe Sharingan.

Seeing Kakuyama directly reveal his Sharingan, Shisui was a little puzzled, not knowing what he intended to do.

Uchiha Kakuyama's Sharingan's Three Tomoe spun faster and faster, their tails faintly outlining some patterns.

Uchiha Shisui was startled by this, as if his biggest secret had been exposed, and exclaimed,

"What's wrong with your Sharingan?"

Seeing Uchiha Shisui's reaction, Uchiha Kakuyama smiled contentedly, his eyes filled with the joy of a successful prank.

He didn't answer Shisui's question but slowly closed his Sharingan, his eyes smiling as he looked at Shisui, remaining silent.

Uchiha Shisui saw Kakuyama looking at him without speaking, understood his meaning, and said hoarsely,

"You guessed it?"

Uchiha Kakuyama shook his head and said, "I didn't guess it; I saw it."

Shisui heard this and shook his head in disbelief, "Impossible. I only awakened my Mangekyo Sharingan recently and have never revealed it outside."

Uchiha Kakuyama paused for a moment, then pointed to his left eye: "The Eye Technique of this Mangekyo of mine is called 'Time Rift.' Its ability allows me to see glimpses of the future, not much, but I happened to see a fragment of yours."

"It sounds a bit absurd. At first, I also thought it was an illusion, but judging by your expression, it must be true. Shisui, you truly are a genius of our Uchiha Clan; you even awakened your Mangekyo Sharingan before me."

After Uchiha Shisui heard what Kakuyama said, he thought about the Eye Technique of his own Mangekyo Sharingan. If he could possess an ability as outrageous as Kotoamatsukami, then Uchiha Kakuyama's Mangekyo Sharingan didn't seem so hard to accept.

In reality, Uchiha Kakuyama had no ability to see the future. He was merely using his knowledge of the plot to mislead Uchiha Shisui. His Mangekyo had only manifested prematurely with the help of his immense mental power and the system. It looked impressive but was essentially a blank Mangekyo, devoid of any abilities.

Although Uchiha Shisui was kind-hearted, he still possessed the basic qualities of a strong individual. He composed himself, sensed something was amiss, and looked at Uchiha Kakuyama, asking,

"From what I know of you, you wouldn't just come to confirm my Mangekyo, would you?"

Uchiha Kakuyama decided to drop a bombshell on Shisui, looking into his eyes and saying,

"I saw you die. The time isn't very certain, but it should be not far from now."

Uchiha Kakuyama saw Shisui's pupils sharply contract, and his face uncontrollably twitched. He continued,

"After you died, the Uchiha Clan was annihilated within a few years."

Upon hearing this, Uchiha Shisui could no longer sit still. He abruptly stood up and retorted,

"Impossible! Our Uchiha Clan is the largest clan in Konoha Village, having been here since Konoha's inception. Our Konoha Village is also the strongest ninja Village. How could we be annihilated just like that? Who would have the guts? Who would have the ability?"

Uchiha Kakuyama saw the agitated Uchiha Shisui but didn't try to calm him. Instead, he said with some profound meaning,

"People outside Konoha Village wouldn't have the ability, but what if it were people inside Konoha Village?"

After Uchiha Shisui heard Uchiha Kakuyama's words, he seemed to have connected some dots and fell silent. His lips trembled, and he asked in a hoarse voice,

"What else did you see?"

Uchiha Kakuyama paused, organizing his thoughts: "I didn't actually see much. Besides some ordinary daily scenes, there were only a handful of useful bits."

"Your Sharingan must be very precious. I saw you lying on the ground, your eyes gouged out. Standing beside you were the Third Hokage and Danzo Shimura, and your eyes were in Danzo Shimura's hand. There were many Anbu members nearby."

Uchiha Shisui initially didn't quite believe that he, having awakened the Mangekyo, would die so easily. However, when Uchiha Kakuyama mentioned that the Third Hokage was standing nearby when he died, he thought of his Mangekyo's abilities, his trust in the Third Hokage, and the sinister Danzo Shimura. Connecting the dots, Uchiha Shisui pretty much figured out what had happened.

"Given my trust in the Third Hokage, I would likely tell him about my awakened Mangekyo and the Eye Technique Kotoamatsukami in a while. Even if the Third Hokage couldn't bring himself to kill me and take my Sharingan, my Kotoamatsukami's ability is too terrifying. If the Third Hokage were to tell Danzo, Danzo would most likely advocate for killing me and taking my eyes, and the Third Hokage might very well tacitly agree."

"Only if it wasn't a direct confrontation, but a sneak attack, given my trust in the Third Hokage, the success rate would be very high."

Thinking this, Uchiha Shisui couldn't help but feel his heart slowly sinking, and the light in his eyes dimmed considerably.

He never imagined that even the Third Hokage couldn't tolerate his Kotoamatsukami.

Uchiha Shisui connected the cause and effect of his death and then asked Uchiha Kakuyama, "What else?"

Uchiha Kakuyama looked at Shisui's shaken expression and sighed softly. "I saw fragments of the Uchiha Clan's downfall. It wasn't just you. After your death, the tensions between the Uchiha and the village escalated. The clan was blamed for incidents they didn't cause, pushed into a corner. Eventually, someone from within the clan—someone we both know—carried out the massacre under orders. The Uchiha were wiped out, almost to the last person."

Shisui's face paled, his hands clenching into fists. "Who? Who would do that to our clan?"

Kakuyama hesitated, knowing the weight of his next words. He couldn't reveal too much without risking Shisui's disbelief or, worse, altering the future in unpredictable ways. "I can't say exactly who. The vision wasn't clear enough. But it was someone trusted, someone close to the clan, manipulated by the village's higher-ups."

Shisui's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. He was no fool; he could piece together the implications. The Third Hokage, Danzo, the Anbu—Konoha's leadership had always been wary of the Uchiha's power. His Kotoamatsukami, with its ability to rewrite a person's will undetected, would be a threat too great for them to ignore.

After a long silence, Shisui spoke, his voice low but resolute. "If what you say is true, then I can't let this happen. I won't let the clan fall, and I won't let my eyes be taken by Danzo."

Uchiha Kakuyama nodded, sensing an opportunity. "That's why I came to you, Shisui. I need your help. My Sharingan—it's different. The system I mentioned earlier, it's not just a Mangekyo. It allows me to copy and learn other Eye Techniques, including those of the Mangekyo Sharingan. If you let me copy your Kotoamatsukami, I can use it to protect the clan, to change the course of this future."

Shisui's eyes widened, a mix of shock and suspicion crossing his face. "Copy my Kotoamatsukami? That's… unheard of. Even among the Uchiha, no one has ever been able to copy a Mangekyo's unique abilities."

"I know it sounds impossible," Kakuyama admitted, "but my Sharingan is unique, even among our clan. The system enhances its copying ability beyond what a normal Sharingan can do. I don't need to take your eyes or harm you. I just need to observe your Kotoamatsukami in action, and the system will do the rest—copying and integrating it into my own Sharingan."

Shisui hesitated, his trust in Kakuyama warring with his natural caution. Kotoamatsukami was his greatest weapon, a secret he hadn't even shared with the Third Hokage yet. To reveal it to Kakuyama, even a childhood friend, was a massive risk.

Seeing Shisui's reluctance, Kakuyama pressed gently. "Shisui, I know what I'm asking is a lot. But think about it. If I can wield Kotoamatsukami, we could use it to influence the village's leadership, to make them see the Uchiha as allies, not threats. We could stop the massacre before it even begins. You've always wanted peace between the clan and the village. This could be the way."

Shisui stared at the river, his reflection rippling in the water. After what felt like an eternity, he turned to Kakuyama, his expression resolute. "If I agree to this, you must swear to use Kotoamatsukami only for the clan's survival and for peace. No personal gain, no betrayal."

Kakuyama met his gaze, his own eyes steady. "I swear it, Shisui. On the honor of the Uchiha Clan."

Shisui nodded slowly, then stood, his posture shifting to that of a ninja ready for action. "Then follow me. There's a place nearby where we won't be disturbed. I'll show you Kotoamatsukami—but only once. Be ready."

Uchiha Kakuyama's heart raced with anticipation. The first step toward changing the Uchiha Clan's fate was within reach. As he followed Shisui into the forest, his Three-Tomoe Sharingan gleamed, ready to absorb the power of the strongest Genjutsu in existence.
