Unknown POV
I stepped back from the scabbard "hey it's you the man from before," came the voice of the boy.
Ah it seems the boy had regained enough consciousness to wake up in our shared mindscape I thought turning to face the boy who could possibly aid me in finding out my identity and purpose "...hello there child," I greeted.
The boy nods, looking around the place in wonder "so...who are you?" the boy asks.
I shrugged "I don't know my memories are lost to me at the current moment I cannot remember my past or identity," I replied taking a seat next to the sheath.
The boy follows, taking a seat beside me "so you're like me then huh? I can't remember anything except for my first name. I don't even know how I got here...is this the afterlife? Did you take my soul Mister Shinigami?" he inquired.
I shook my head "I do not know what this Shinigami is that you keep referring to child but as to where we are it's simple we're in our shared mindscape," I explained in a soft monotone voice.
He tilted his head in confusion "ah what's a mindscape?" he asked again.
"To dumb it down for you were basically inside your head. Now normally a person's mind isn't supposed to have two different worlds but since I am with you now our minds are shared together hence this hill represents you while mine is that endless land of gray," I explained pointing at my side of our shared mindscape.
The boy nodded with a bit of understanding "but uh...why are you in my head?" I raised a brow.
"Surely you remember calling out to me wishing to live did you not? By creating a spiritual contract with me I gave you just enough energy to move your body in exchange you become connected to me, my Aibou as your kind would say. Hence why I am here or rather I should say our mind now," I replied.
He flinched a bit, looking like he remembered "right I remember that now...thank you," he said after a while.
I scoffed "don't thank me I did it for my own personal benefit," I mumbled.
The boy didn't hear me though "my name is Shirou by the way," he introduced awkwardly.
"I would introduce myself but as I don't have a name you can simply just address me by whatever would make you feel comfortable," I replied monotonously.
Shirou's face scrunched up a bit at that "how about I call you...Mugetsu?" he proposed.
"Why that name if I may ask?" I asked wondering why he chose such a particular name like that.
Shirou shrugged "don't know I guess it's because when we met all I could see were burning flames and the endless dark sky with no light in sight hence Mugetsu which means moonless sky," he said.
I hummed in thought "...I suppose it's not such a bad name after all very well you may address me as Mugetsu," I replied with a tone of approval.
The boy smiles until he notices his body beginning to fade away "huh what's happening?" he questioned with a tone of nervousness "calm yourself Shirou you're just waking back up in the real world that's all," I reassured.
He looked down feeling sad "b-but I don't want to go back yet I want to keep talking with you," he stuttered.
I sigh at this "do not worry child when you wake up, I'll be there beside you in my astral form. You'll see me but no one else can...although it's not like anyone else could do so before," I mutter at the end.
A couple of seconds later and the boy had finally disappeared back to the real world.
I close my eyes beginning the process of astralization.
My body disappears and I find myself in a room of pure white "Mugetsu there you are!" Shirou called out and I turned around to find the boy behind me.
He was currently laying on a pure white colored bed with multiple kinds of machines beside him.
I can only assume it has something to do with medical aid "told you I would appear beside you. There was no need for you to shout out my name like that," I replied leaning against the wall.
Shirou nodded and opened his mouth to speak only to be interrupted by the door opening revealing a man in a white coat "ah it seems you finally woke up today kid," the man said with clear relief in his eyes.
The doctor as the man introduced himself to be began to ask several questions all of which Shirou answered. When asked if he remembered what happened last night or if he had any relatives the boy responded with a head shake of denial "I-I can't remember anything before the fire the only thing I can recall is my first name," he replied.
The doctor sighed jotting a few pieces of notes on his pad "alright I'll be back in a few minutes but for now just wait here there's somebody I need to go speak with regarding your condition," he said opening the door.
Shirou nodded as the doctor left, he then glanced at me but I remained silent "so...?" he trailed off awkwardly "so what?" I asked wondering why he trailed off "well you never really told me what you were if not the Shinigami," he said.
I contemplated on how to answer his question when not even I was aware of what exactly I was I shake my head and finally replied "I guess you could say I am a wondering spirit of sorts," was the best explanation I could give.
"Spirit? You mean like a ghost," he says I chuckle at the analogy "in your terms then yes I suppose I am like a ghost," I reply making Shirou hum with a thoughtful look on his face "...it must have been terribly lonely to have been by yourself for so long Mugetsu," he remarked as I turn my gaze out to the window taking in the foggy view of the morning "no...it wasn't lonely simply just dull," I replied my eyes becoming slightly more lost than usual.
My attention is taken away when the door to the room opens once more this time both the doctor and a man wearing pure black clothing with a haggard like face walked in.
The doctor quickly introduces the man as the one who had saved the boy and brought him here to the hospital.
The boy looks at the man with recognition his honey-colored eyes igniting like fire. The doctor leaves which meant it was just us three well really two since the man couldn't see me.
The man asks Shirou if he would like to go to the orphanage or be adopted by him, I waited wondering which offer the boy will choose and after a period of silence he raised his finger pointing at the man who smiles "I am glad then...oh one more thing I forgot to mention I am a magus," he revealed much to Shirou's confused awe.
The man then left presumably to go sign the release papers.
Now the question becomes should I mention the man has been cursed and only has a few years of life to live?
-end of chapter two-
Alright the chapter is done let me know your thoughts, I guess.
The overall relationship between Mugetsu and Shirou is going to be similar to Yami Yugi and Yugi from Yugioh.
Which means that Mugestu and Shirou can also switch with one another while sharing the same body.
