"We aren't...
We weren't meant to be...equal."
The voice echoed in my head as darkness consumed me.
I was dying...
And yet, somehow I felt alive.
I couldn't hear neither touch nor see anything. But I could feel myself, a wave of consciousness floating somewhere.
'Am I going to heaven? Is that it?' A thought entered me. Then I wondered what was the voice that I heard before everything went black.
My guardian angel?
If yes, I really hoped they were around me. The silence and this endless floating was making me uncomfortable.
So you are the last soul?
Out of the blue, a voice resounded in the empty space. Or that's what it should have been.
But to me, it sounded like an echo of something ancient...something primal.
For a moment, I felt.
My soul or whatever the form I was in was stretched out by the divine voice.
But surprisingly I didn't feel pain.
Rather a wave of ecstacy coursed through me, as if I was drowning in sweet music.
Ahh right...you can't speak. Neither can you tolerate a divine presence for long.
A pause.
Your death wasn't accidental. It was ordered. Ordered by me.
I should have felt shock. That was the natural reaction.
But...that voice. A melody so smooth it unraveled my soul with its sweetness.
Ignoring my dilemma, the voice continued.
But fret not, I don't hold any malice towards you. Rather I am in need of allies. But nobody I have chosen till date has ever crossed the ranks of a higher order. And now...this is my final gamble.
What was the voice saying? Allies? Final gamble?
The biggest question however was...Me?
Did she mistake me for someone else? I mean the possibility wasn't out of the box even if she happened to be a goddess.
Wait...I don't even know that. Was she even a goddess?
The voice returned back. However this time, she sounded... desperate?
I know you are confused. I wish I could have said more words to you. But the last of my divinity is about to dissipate. I hope you become strong enough to be help me.
I shall be forever grateful to you. In fact, I shall make any wish of your come true. This...I promise.
Maybe all of this was a simple hallucination. A last form of dreamscape my mind must have weaved for me to pass onto my afterlife. Peacefully.
I mean there is no other way to explain the absurdity I heard. No way would a goddess, a perfect being of the universe...no way would they be pleading to me.
Save her?
SAVE A GODDESS??! What lunacy is that?!
But before I could tear my own soul in disbelief, she interrupted me again.
I shall be sending you to another world now. The last sparks of my power shall accompany you there. That's the best I could do...forgive me.
Suddenly my sense of touch returned. I felt my soul thump violently like the rapid beatings of a heart.
Accompanied with it, a wave of energy converged on me from all sides. It threaded it's way through the thin fibres of my soul.
It felt...foreign. This energy pulsated in me, matching the rhythm of my own violent soul.
The goddess spoke. But this time it felt as if her voice had come from within me.
I hope we can meet again one day. Farewell, young soul.
Saying that, she abruptly disappeared. Her voice lost in the nothingness surrounding me.
Something chimmed, like the notifications on a smartphone. I looked around or that's what I imagined doing myself as I tried to sense the source of the sound.
At that moment, another sound rang out. This time it was the creaking noise that follows when doors are genarally opened.
A sudden white dot at a distance took me by surprise. As I looked at it, I suddenly halted.
I can see.
My senses were returning back.
The white dot that started as a tiny, minute particle started getting bigger. It expanded slowly, rising from a dot to a small circle.
I tried looking around myself. But all I saw was darkness. Even the white light couldn't pierce it.
My soul wasn't visible to me as well. Or was it the darkness that was my soul?
Everything was happening too fast for me to properly process my emotions. First, my death.
Then, the goddess.
And now, by the looks of it I was about to get reincarnated.
ShalI I become a child again? A small infant like in those novels?
As I looked on, the small circle turned into a large circle that was approaching me.
No..I was approaching the circle. Not the vice-versa.
[~Ding~]
The same chimming sound again.
For a moment everything paused.
A screen suddenly appeared in the nothingness.

What was even written on it? I can't see a single thing on the screen which was illuminated with the white light of the circle I was approaching.
It lasted for only a moment. Then the screen broke down with a sharp crackle just like a brittle glass breaking into thousands of shards.
Each of the screen's debris hurled towards me.
I closed my eyes on reflex. Only to be reminded that I had none.
With no choice, I braced for the obvious pain. But none came.
The shards simply passed into me and I felt them settling deep into my soul.
I could only watch it all. Maybe this was the last power of the Goddess. The one she had promised me.
Suddenly, the white circle of light increased again.
And within seconds, it consumed everything of me and my surrounding darkness.
The light was torturing as I was unable to shut down my vision. Only insane people and curious children would like to try opening their eyelids in front of a intensive flashlight.
The white light gushed against me as I felt my consciousness entering a pinpoint.
I lost my consciousness as I prepared for my next world...unwillingly.
