Zayden and Aylin looked at each other.
This changed everything.
The entire strategy could shift based on this information.
"You said he has been losing memory for over a year," Aylin said slowly. "Does that mean he might not remember certain people or events from his past?"
Alexander was quiet for a moment. "Yes. He forgets things in cycles. Usually about a year at a time, though sometimes longer. Names, faces, significant events—they all become blurred and uncertain for him."
Aylin felt something cold settle in her chest. "Does that mean he might not remember my parents? Might not remember Marcus and Sibel Alston?"
Silence on the other end of the line.
Then: "I honestly do not know. It is possible. His memory of events from decades ago is particularly fragmented. He might remember them. He might not. He might remember their names but not their faces. Or their faces but not why they mattered."
Aylin felt like the ground was shifting beneath her.
