Chapter 2 - A KISS IN THE RAIN

The storm came suddenly, drumming on rooftops and chasing people off the streets. Maya clutched her flimsy umbrella as it flipped inside out, useless against the downpour. She laughed despite herself, drenched from head to toe, when a familiar figure appeared through the curtain of rain.

"Here," Daniel said, rushing to her side. He slipped off his jacket and held it above her head, though it barely shielded them both. Their shoulders brushed as they huddled close, warmth sparking even in the cold rain.

"You'll get sick," Maya protested, shivering but smiling.

Daniel shook his head, droplets clinging to his lashes. "I'd rather catch a fever than watch you drown out here alone."

For a moment, they just stared at each other. The rain softened around them, as if the world itself held its breath. Daniel's hand lingered at her cheek, brushing away a strand of soaked hair. His touch was hesitant, searching, but the look in his eyes told her everything she had longed to hear but never dared to ask.

"Maya," he whispered, voice almost lost to the storm, "I think I've loved you far longer than I realized."

Her lips parted, heart hammering. "Then don't just say it," she murmured, her voice trembling as much as her hands, "show me."

And he did.

Daniel leaned in, closing the distance. Their kiss was soft at first, then deepened, a fire blooming between them even as rain poured down their faces. The storm raged, but in their embrace it felt like sunlight breaking through clouds. The city vanished, the cold disappeared—there was only the taste of him, the warmth of him, and the unspoken promise sealed in that single kiss.

When they finally pulled apart, breathless and laughing, Maya's heart felt lighter than it ever had. The rain no longer mattered. In that moment, she knew that love—unexpected, imperfect, and beautifully real—had found her in the storm.
