One and a Half Years Later...
I'm lying on the ground in the depths of the forest, my eyes fixed on the sky above. Today is the day I start training with the Kurta clan. A wolf cub is resting on top of me.
I've always been good with animals; over this time, Alisa, Kurapika, and Pairo have become my closest friends.
The people in the clan don't pay much attention to me anymore. That's fine. When Kurapika started rarely bringing me food, I began hunting alone in the forest.
I tried eating some herbs during that time, but damn, they were poisonous! Thankfully, I only had stomach issues.
Snakes have become my least favorite species.
They try to sneak up and bite me while I'm resting. So, I grab them by their heads, cook them, and eat them. Seems fair to me.
I get along well with the other creatures in the forest.
Some magical beasts even bring me food.
My Nen has developed a lot during this time. I can use Ren flawlessly for 10 hours straight. Learning advanced techniques was tough; I copied what I saw in the manga and anime.
For Shu, I dug a massive tunnel through a mountain. With fine-tuning, I can sense everything up to 200 meters away using En.
Gyo is a simple matter. All you need to do is focus your Nen into your eyes.
I'm used to Ken and Ko, but I'm not a master of them since I don't have a teacher. I learned everything about Nen on my own.
My Ryo was terrible at first, but I got the hang of it. The only thing I lack is combat experience. I can say I've developed my own martial arts style.
My training ranges from climbing a mountain barehanded with a boulder tied to me to enduring tons of water under a waterfall. I've pretty much achieved what I wanted. I trained my Nen categories as Biscuit showed in the anime.
I haven't created my Hatsu yet, but I have a prototype in mind. It won't be easy.
I'm grateful to Mother Nature. And to the God who sent me to this world... My body is always in peak condition.
The exercises I've done have made me far stronger than you'd expect from a 7-year-old. I can now control all my muscles as I please. Like the Zoldyck family extends their nails, I can do it too. It's awesome.
While thinking about this, the wolf on me started licking my face. Oh my God, this wolf is so cute! I named him Hakuro.
I sat up in a cross-legged position and tickled Hakuro's belly.
He makes sounds like laughter.
But then, I noticed movement in the bushes to my left. When I turned my eyes, a pure white wolf emerged. This is Hakuro's mother.
She approaches and rubs her head against my shoulder. I place my hand on her head.
"Hey, Whitey, are you here for Hakuro?" I said. Whitey nodded as if saying yes. The Hunter x Hunter world is fascinating; most animals here are intelligent.
I placed Hakuro next to Whitey with my hand. "Go on, Hakuro, go to your mom, be good," I said, chuckling. These beasts are more honest than humans. If they don't like you, they'll eat you. That simple.
Hakuro whines, as if he doesn't want to go. Of course, I petted his head. "Come on, Hakuro, we'll play more later," I said.
Hakuro and his mother slowly walked away. But Whitey came back through the bushes and gave me a fish.
"Oh, Whitey, thank you!" I took the fish, used my claw-like hand to cut off its head, and removed its organs and bones. I looked at the birds watching from a distance.
They're a bit large, like eagles. I tossed the fish to the nearest eagle. It spread its wings, caught the fish with its talons, and flew off.
Nature is so beautiful! I try to preserve the ecosystem as much as I can. I even spare some of the snakes that attack me.
In this world, snakes are ferocious, but they can be tamed. I know a snake that looks like a Black Mamba.
When I first met it, I was looking for rocks so heavy I could barely lift them. When I lifted one, it attacked me, but I dodged. I found a rat nearby and gave it to the snake. It ate happily, then stuck out its tongue at me and left.
So, it let me take the rock. A fair trade.
As I was about to get up, I encountered a surprising sight. Is that a tiger? But it's huge, at least four times my size! Even though I'm 7, I'm 120 cm tall.
"Damn it, why did I run into this?" I raised my hands. This usually means, "My hands are empty, I don't want to fight," to animals.
"Hey, buddy, if possible, let's not fight. Go find some forest goats," I said.
The tiger roared. This wasn't a sign of agreement—it was coming to eat me. I immediately used Ten and infused it with my killing intent.
The tiger turned cat-like, but instead of backing off, it charged at me. As it leaped, I rolled to the side. I strengthened my hand with Nen and struck its side, but it barely penetrated.
"Oh my God, I think I'm facing the king of the forest!" The tiger swiped at my face with its paw.
I ducked and kicked it. It flew into a tree on my left, but it quickly regained its stance. It started circling me slowly, and I did the same, my eyes locked on it.
Before I could do anything, I heard another roar.
Something huge slammed into the tiger at incredible speed.
It's Barney! I became friends with this giant bear after giving him honey.
He probably caught my scent and came when he heard the tiger's roar. The tiger tumbled to the ground. Barney sank his teeth into its neck and shook it.
Looking at Barney, I said, "Barney, leave it to me! This isn't a threat to me, you know."
Barney shook the tiger a bit more, then tossed it in front of me. The tiger was writhing, barely alive. I tore a piece of my clothing and bandaged its wound.
Using Nen, I cleaned the wound and fixed everything. The tiger lay on the ground, on the verge of passing out.
"Shh, tiger, I spared your life today. I'm Kael, don't forget—you owe me," I said, patting its belly lightly.
It growled, but I kept playing with its fur.
This tiger isn't a problem for me. The real issue is Barney. That guy loves wrestling with me. I taught him to wrestle for fun, but I didn't know he'd love it this much!
Barney turned his head and looked at a nearby beehive, drooling. I sighed, went to the tree, and used Emission to strike the branch with the hive.
Barney ran over and started eating the entire hive slowly, savoring it. His mouth and nose were covered in honey.
I jumped onto his back and hugged him gently. "Thanks, Barney, I have to go. See you later," I said.
This bear is a great friend. As long as you don't mess with him, he won't attack. But I'm starting to suspect... Is Barney my father's killer? They said my father was killed by a bear.
I slowly left the forest and reached the clan's area.
My clothes were torn and covered in mud. I went home, took a shower, and changed. I've rarely met the clan leader so far. That guy always looks at me strangely. He must have figured out I use Nen.
After changing, the clan leader was standing in front of me. A tall man with white hair and a beard. "Kael, we need to talk," he said.
I nodded. People around us were staring, curious. We went to the clan leader's house. It was quite plain. He opened the door to what looked like an office. He sat on a chair, and I sat across from him. I realized my house might be the worst in the clan. It's far from the clan but close to a water source.
"Kael, you need to explain something," he said. He looked angry.
I looked at him curiously, a bad feeling rising in me. "Yes, Chief. What do you want to know?"
His voice was furious: "How did you receive our God's blessing?"
God's blessing? Is this guy talking about Nen? Is the Kurta clan this ignorant? I dropped Zetsu and used Ten. "Are you talking about this, Chief?"
He nodded. "Yes. How are you using it? You're just a kid!"
I frowned. No one here knows the chief's name; they just call him "Chief."
"One day I woke up and realized I could use it. Do you have a problem with that?" This guy is interrogating me.
I'm usually paranoid, but since the clan hasn't been discovered yet, I'm relaxed. The chief slammed his hand on the table.
"Yes! Do you know how shocked I was when I noticed you doing this while you've been in the clan since you were 5?"
I looked at him. Is he worried or suspicious? I can't tell. "Yeah, but why should that concern me?"
The man stood up, rolling up his sleeves as if to lecture me. "Ungrateful brat! If it weren't for us, you wouldn't have survived. You'd have ended up like your sister!"
I shot to my feet. My aura surged, reflecting my emotions. My voice trembled: "Old man, did you say sister? Did I hear that wrong?"
He laughed maniacally. "Hahaha! Yes, the clan pities your fate. Everyone knows your story. Your mother loved someone else, someone outside the clan. She had a child with him. Your father was in love with your mother. He killed that man and threw your sister in the dump."
My eyes turned blood red. My Nen exploded, my Ren shaking the entire room. My hand turned into a claw. "Old man, was my sister's name Sarasa?"
The chief was shocked. "Who told you that name? Only I know it!"
Damn it! God is playing with me. My Nen was shaking the house.
With my hand in claw form, I lunged at the chief, but something happened.
I couldn't move! The chief laughed, "Hahaha, why do you think I talked to you this long, brat? You're in my domain, so I activated my ability!"
I couldn't speak or move. This guy's Nen ability probably controls anyone in his domain who has ill intent toward him. Or maybe it's condition to activates when someone wants to kill him.
You learn a lot in nature; calming yourself is one of those things. Slowly, the emotion in my eyes faded. I tried moving, and I could twitch slightly.
A gun materialized in my hand, and with all my strength, I shot at the chief's shoulder. The Nen I infused in the shot pierced his shoulder.
I aimed for his heart, but when he got injured, I could move again.
Suddenly, the door was kicked open. Four adults came in, their Nen flaring up. I raised my Nen too. My capacity was greater than theirs.
Was it a mistake not to create my Hatsu?
The chief fell, clutching his shoulder. "Kid, you're dead!"
The other adults' auras shifted. I couldn't stay here any longer. Looking at the chief's face, I said, "From now on, I have no ties with the Kurta clan. If you don't back off, I'll do whatever it takes to kill you all!" My eyes were ice-cold.
Some of them trembled.
(he thinks,he's him)
I spat in the chief's face. I stood in front of the four adults. A dark aura swirled around me. I was on the verge of losing it. "Get out of my way, or I'll crush you!"
They made way. I tore the Kurta clan symbol off my clothes. I was in the middle of the clan. Some held swords, others guns, and some were waiting for an opportunity.
My Nen drew the attention of most adults. When I tore the symbol, I felt their auras fluctuate. I was left in just a white shirt and pants. I went to my house, grabbing only my father's ID card.
No matter how much I hide it, I'll need this card for the outside world.
Even though the Kurta clan is isolated, they issue ID cards for kids so they won't have issues if they go to the city when they grow up.
It took me a minute to gather all my things.
Then I ran to my secret hideout at full speed, using Zetsu. When no one was around, an eagle landed on my shoulder. It was the one I fed today. I petted its head and kept walking.
Three hours later, I saw Barney. I must be in his territory. Seeing him, I bowed my head. "Barney, I'm sorry, I'm leaving," I said.
He patted my head with his paw, like petting me.
I usually love animal fur, and Barney is the best friend you could ask for. He makes you feel loved to the fullest. Tears streamed down my eyes. The eagle on my shoulder was already gone.
"Barney, how about one last wrestle?" With tears on my face, I got into position.
Barney growled, sounding sad too. He stood on his hind legs. As he came at me, I was going to kick his leg, but he jumped on me.
I dodged to the side. While in Zetsu, as he fell, I jumped on his neck and tried to choke him. But he shook his head, too strong, so I had to let go. I was holding back; I didn't want to hurt Barney.
He knows.
When we first met, I hit his head and knocked him out in one blow.
To be honest, I think Barney weighs about 10 tons.
But even so, I sometimes lift him and run around. Barney's usually lazy, so he's happy in those moments.
As I landed, he swung his left paw. I caught it with my left arm. Then he swung his right paw, all aimed at my head. I caught that too.
Barney pushed me with all his strength, but I didn't budge. I tripped his leg, and he fell.
That was his defeat. In our wrestling rules, whoever's back hits the ground first loses. Then I jumped on him and hugged him. "Goodbye, Barney," I said.
Barney made sad noises. I got up and dashed forward with all my speed. If I stayed with Barney any longer, I wouldn't be able to leave.
According to my ID, I was born in 1980. If I recall correctly, Chrollo was 25 in 2000.
It's 1987 now, so Sarasa shouldn't be dead yet. I have to find her; she's the only thing left for me in this life.
I always suspected that damn clan.
Their strength probably comes from Hatsu.
If I hadn't created a simple weapon with Conjurer and strengthened it with Enhancement like I did against the clan chief, I'd have had no chance of escaping.
One Day Later
I reached the edge of the forest and saw a city in the distance.
The smell of smoke led me here. Since I lived in nature, all five of my senses are at their peak. Even Gon might not have spent as much time in the wild as I have.
I spent two years mostly in the forest, only occasionally going home to play with Kurapika, Pairo, and Alisa. Lately, Alisa hadn't been coming outside.
That girl was hard to understand. (mc's memories will appear in flashbacks later.)
I look at my clothes—they're a bit worn.
No big deal; people will see me as a poor kid. I approached the city slowly, hoping no one would notice. I must have run about 700 km from the clan's area to here.
I did it in Zetsu; if I'd used Ren, I'd have gotten here faster, but I won't waste my Nen for that.
As I got closer to the city, still in Zetsu, I made sure no one noticed me. I stole money from a man whose wallet was sticking out of his back pocket. I needed it.
After putting the money in my pocket, I tossed the wallet on the ground.
The guy had 50,000 jenny.
No one around me is paying attention, and I don't feel any eyes on me. I entered a nearby restaurant, but as soon as I did, someone shouted—probably the owner: "Get out, kid, we don't have food for you!" I sighed and released my killing intent, directed only at him, though a few others in the restaurant felt it. "Where's the airport?"
The man was trembling. He realized this kid wasn't ordinary. He felt like I could kill him. He ran over to me, then stepped outside and pulled out his phone. "Hey, Jim, can you come here? A friend needs to go somewhere."
After talking on the phone for a bit, he hung up. "Kid, wait here. Let me treat you to a meal. The taxi's on its way."
Hmm, why does it feel like he's offering me candy? I shook my head. "No need, it won't take long, right?" The man turned back to the restaurant without looking back.
Thirty Minutes Later...
That guy actually called a taxi. "Hey, kid, where are your parents?" said Jim.
I'm in his car now; he's taking me to the nearest airport.
"They're dead," I said. Jim went quiet, putting his hand on his forehead. "Sorry, kid, I shouldn't have asked. So, where do you want to go, little man?" He tried to joke.
I chuckled a bit. This guy isn't a Nen user, so there's no issue. "I want to go to Heavens Arena." Jim's eyes widened. He didn't expect a kid like me to mention Heavens Arena.
He scratched his head. "I can take you there, but do you have money?" His voice sounded odd, but he seems like a decent guy.
I pulled out 50,000 jenny and showed it to the taxi driver. "Is this enough, Jim?"
His smile widened. "Yeah, that's enough, kid. It'll take us a day and a half to get there. We're in the Yorbian Continent, and it's about 1,300 km away."
Then he laughed. "By the way, call me Jim ni-san"
I nodded. "Alright, Jim-nii," I said and handed him the money. It was more than enough, but it doesn't matter.
Jim floored the gas and started driving at full speed. "Hold on tight, kid, we've got a long road ahead!"
I leaned back, watching the scenery through the car window. It's not as good as the forest I lived in. "Jim-nii, can I ask a question?"
Jim looked tired; he'd been driving for six hours. "Hmm, go ahead, kid."
"Do you know Meteor City?" I said, trying to sound innocent.
Jim's face turned serious. "Yeah, that place is full of filth, but it's still within the Yorbian Continent's borders. I've never been there, though. Where'd you hear about it, kid?"
I made my face look sad. "Before my dad died, he said he'd throw me there." I tried to act as upset as possible, but that bastard really threw Sarasa in the dump.
It must have been thousands of kilometers away, considering the Phantom Troupe was formed to find Sarasa's killer.
I've already given a name to the God who reincarnated me: BOB (Bored Omnipotent Being).
Hahaha, I hope that jerk likes the name.
After all this, Jim looked at the road, driving slower, lost in thought. "You've had a tough life, kid."
I nodded. "Yeah, Jim-nii."
Time Skip
I'm at the entrance of Heavens Arena, in the car with Jim. I slowly opened the door. "Thanks, Jim. Take care."
As I was about to close the door, he slipped a piece of paper into my hand. "This is my number. Call me if you need anything. Jim-nii's got your back."
Damn it, this guy cares about me more than my clan did. "Thanks, Jim-nii," I said and closed the door. It's early morning now. Despite being sleep-deprived, Jim brought me here with all his strength. I respect that guy.
I entered Heavens Arena and got in line for participants. Everyone around me is older, but that's normal since I'm just over 7 years old.
People aren't thinking highly of me; I can see them giving me weird looks.
It's my turn. A tired-looking man asked for my ID card, probably to check if I'm registered.
Standard procedures. I filled out a form, including how many years I've trained in martial arts. I wrote 2 years.
It'd be absurd for a 7-year-old to claim 18 years of training.
He gave me a tag: No. 1453.
An announcement came: "No. 1313 and No. 1453, please come to Ring E3."
I walked toward Ring E3. When I found it, my opponent was ready. He looks like Rocky, somehow.
Muscular, short, clean-shaven, almost like an Italian.
I looked at the referee. "Do your best. You have 30 minutes. Based on your performance, you can go to higher floors."
I stood in front of the guy. He's much taller than me, probably around 175 cm.
He's only wearing shorts—is that legal?
"Hey, kid, sorry, but you're up against me," he said. I sense sportsmanship here. I'm sure he's not a Nen user.
I waved my hand dismissively. "No problem. What's your name? I'm Kael."
He smiled, not underestimating me, which is good behavior. "Rocky..., Rocky Balboa."
Looks like Rocky's career ends here.
"Begin!" the referee said, and Rocky started bouncing, approaching me with footwork. He threw a jab, but I tilted my head to dodge.
Then he aimed a left punch at my liver, but before it landed, I pushed him with my shoulder.
Oops, I think I used too much strength because Rocky's now unconscious against the wall, his body practically imprinted in it.
I looked at the referee, who raised his hands. "The match is over! No. 1453 wins!"
He gave me a ticket for the 50th floor.
I nodded, went to a nearby machine to claim my prize money, bought a soda, and headed to the elevator.
A blue-haired woman was waiting there. She extended her hand. "Ticket, please."
I handed her the ticket. She looked at it, pressed a button in the elevator, and we went up.
When we reached the 50th floor, the elevator stopped, and the woman made way for me.
Once there, I completed the procedures and waited for my match.
Two Hours Later
I'm in the ring, shocked, because standing in front of me is Milluki!
What's going on? We're sizing each other up.
He reminds me of Levi. I guess competing in Heavens Arena is a tradition for the Zoldycks.
It's probably a perfect training ground for them.
But my only fear is pissing off this young master and ending up on Zeno or Silva's blacklist.
I'm sure one of their servants is watching us.
I glanced at the referee. "Ladies and gentlemen, today we have two prodigies of the arena! On one side, Milluki, who's climbed the floors one by one undefeated, and on the other, Kael, who reached the 50th floor in a single match!!!"
The crowd cheered. "Milluki, I bet all my money on you!"
"Come on, Kael, you can do it!" I turned to look at the guy who said that. That jerk thinks I'm a shounen anime protagonist.
Milluki looked surprised. After defeating every adult he faced, now they want him to fight someone his age!
"Hey, how old are you?" Milluki asked.
I narrowed my eyes. I can tell at a glance he's not using Nen, but when I looked at the crowd, there's a Nen user standing out like a lighthouse. He's wearing servant clothes, with pink hair and a few wrinkles on his face.
"I'm 7," I said, looking at Milluki.
"Seriously? I'm 6," he said, then raised his hands. "What a pity, I have to beat someone almost my age."
This guy's mocking me. The referee looked at both of us. I nodded, and he raised his hand. "Begin!" he said, blowing the whistle.
If this guy's as strong as Levi Ackerman, he'd better be, or I'm going to beat him badly.
He appeared in front of me in an instant. He's fast, but not fast enough to escape my eyes. He turned his hand into a claw and aimed for my head, but I left an afterimage behind.
I got behind Milluki and lightly struck the back of his neck.
His eyes darkened, and he staggered. Just as he was about to fall, he stood back up.
"Critical hit, 2 points to Kael," the referee said.
Milluki started being more cautious. He used Rhythm Echo.
It's a good move, but he's not fully mastered it. I can tell from his movements and scent.
Is that all? It looks pretty simple.
An afterimage appeared in front of me. That's not him. I turned to my left and looked into his eyes.
He backed off, knowing I'd hit him if he kept coming. "How did you figure it out? You shouldn't have!"
A smile spread across my face. "Want to know how I did it?" I said.
Milluki looked at me, a bit scared. I might have just caused PTSD in a kid.
"Name your price," he said. Hmm, he thinks he can buy me with money.
I raised my finger and shook it side to side in a "no" gesture. "You'll owe me a favor," I said.
There was hesitation on his face. "I'm sorry we couldn't come to an agreement," he said.
There was disappointment in his voice, but I won't let that slide. While he was grappling with his thoughts, I appeared behind him again and struck his neck. He passed out.
I caught him before he fell and laid him on the ground. I might have hit too hard—maybe way too hard—but I believe he'll be fine!
The referee started shouting, "Ladies and gentlemen, the match between Milluki and Kael ends here! Kael knocked out his opponent in two moves!"
Some booed, while others cheered. "Kael, you're my shining star!"
Then a few women and a cameraman approached. As I was about to leave, they stopped me. "Mr. Kael, what do you think about today's match?"
This woman started an interview without asking. Fine, I'll play along. "The opponent on the first floor wasn't bad. He could've won against someone else. But the guy I fought now is a good fighter, though his movements lack fluidity and he gives himself away too easily."
The woman looked surprised.
Most fighters here would badmouth their opponents. "Hahaha, Mr. Kael, why didn't you end the match in one move? It looked like you could've," she said, her voice excited but clearly fake.
"That's enough questions," I said, covering the camera with my hand. The referee gave me a ticket for the 60th floor and a slip to claim my prize money, which goes to my ID card.
I earned 50,000 jenny on this floor. I went to the nearest reception and rented a room, which cost me 25,000 jenny.
My room is on the 68th floor. I went there and crashed on the bed.
It was a really exhausting day.
(long chapter,i didnt talk so much about kurta clan just basic but i plan to let readers see his past in flashbacks, dont forget to send power stones)
