While the Hexagram Alliance was consolidating information and formulating operational plans, in the top office of Blackwater Security Company, Ohm sat at his desk, frowning deeply.
The ashtray beside him was already filled with the remnants of smoked cigars, a testament to the inner agitation gnawing at him.
Time rewinds to an hour earlier.
At that moment, in the same office, Ohm was entwined with a curvaceous and attractive secretary, discussing the mysteries of the human body.
By now, Ohm had fully taken over everything at Blackwater. The former top executive, Saiko, could only bow under Ohm's authority.
After all, Ohm's identity was unique—he was a special envoy sent directly from headquarters.
During his tenure at Blackwater, Ohm was the top executive, and Saiko would only regain authority after Ohm's departure.
On the desk, the seductive secretary was showing Ohm her long legs encased in black stockings.
Beneath the thin black fabric, her shapely legs displayed an unparalleled elasticity and shine.
Ohm's large hands rested upon them, caressing. To the secretary, his somewhat rough hands provided a different kind of stimulation—the sensation was both ticklish and pleasant.
A tingling warmth spread through her body. She couldn't help but part her red lips, breathing heavily, a flirtatious blush coloring her face.
Ohm's expert touch had softened her legs, almost melting them under his hands.
At that moment, the phone on his desk rang at the most inconvenient time.
Ohm, unable to spare a hand, pressed the button beside the phone—a function to call back in five minutes.
He couldn't answer immediately because he was carefully examining the texture of her stockings.
Stockings were peculiar things. When intact, they conveyed one kind of beauty; when torn, they revealed another, equally enticing aesthetic—and, oddly enough, came with a buff that increased "attack speed."
After a while, the secretary gracefully pushed open the office door and stepped out. She needed to change her clothes; after all, her "artifact" had been damaged.
Ohm lit a post-coital cigar and pressed the button beside the phone, signaling that he was ready to receive a report.
Soon, the desk phone remained silent, but Saiko pushed open the door, looking anxious.
As soon as he entered, Saiko hurriedly began reporting, frowning as he looked at Ohm and spoke gravely:
"Sir, the technical department just reported."
"Team A1, along with that S-level operative from headquarters, has lost contact."
"And not long after, their chips indicated they were damaged."
Hearing this, Ohm was incredulous. He stood abruptly and shouted at Saiko:
"What?!"
"Team A1 and an S-level ability user… and they didn't complete the mission?"
"Lost contact, and their chips are destroyed. Are you telling me they're already dead?"
The cigar in Ohm's hand was viciously stubbed out in the ashtray. He stared at Saiko, whose face was full of worry, and roared in a frenzy, venting his anger.
In truth, when he heard Saiko's report, Ohm already knew the worst had happened. Being sent from headquarters, he understood fully what lost contact combined with destroyed chips implied.
His outburst was not due to ignorance—it was because he couldn't bring himself to believe such a situation had occurred.
He couldn't imagine the questions and punishments he would face once headquarters learned of the disaster.
A mission uncompleted, and so many personnel lost… he had no idea how he would justify this to headquarters.
After the roar, Ohm fell silent. He lit another cigar, lowered his head, and exhaled smoke while lost in thought.
Saiko stood beside the desk, equally troubled, unsure of what to do.
Team A1 was Blackwater's top-tier force. Losing contact with them, along with damaged chips, meant they were most likely dead.
Without Team A1, Blackwater had lost nearly half its strength. There were still many B-level and C-level agents, but the difference between them and A-level operatives was significant.
While Saiko calculated the company's losses, Ohm pondered how to report back to headquarters, thinking of ways to minimize his personal risk.
An hour passed as both men brooded in silence. Saiko's legs were beginning to go numb.
The ashtray by Ohm's side was overflowing with cigar butts, and the office was thick with choking smoke.
He drew deeply on his cigar, then extinguished it in the ashtray.
After this period of thought, he had a rough plan forming in his mind.
Ohm looked up at the silent Saiko and said hoarsely:
"This situation isn't easy to resolve. With losses this severe, I have to give headquarters a proper explanation."
"Summarize all the data, including the intelligence from the Hexagram Alliance. I'll fly back to headquarters tomorrow to report."
Saiko looked up as Ohm's gaze met his.
"Understood. I'll compile everything immediately," Saiko replied hastily, snapping out of his thoughts.
"The consequences of this… the special envoy is probably going to be punished upon returning to headquarters," Saiko thought to himself.
In a way, losing one A-level team was something Blackwater could bear.
After instructing Saiko, Ohm waved him off, signaling he could leave.
Saiko, recognizing the cue, exited the office to compile the necessary data.
Ohm exhaled, leaned back into the soft chair, one hand resting on the desk, the other massaging his temples.
"This Saiko really is a bit dull… no wonder headquarters relegated him to Blackwater," Ohm mused.
His plan was simple: he would shift all blame onto Saiko. He couldn't go to headquarters himself, so why not?
Ohm decided he would proactively report back tomorrow and pin everything on Saiko.
Perhaps Saiko provided inaccurate intelligence or failed to investigate the opponent's strength.
Perhaps he disobeyed orders, secretly sending the team on missions, exposing their positions, and causing the operation to fail.
In short, all this loss was Saiko's fault.
With his contingency plan in place, Ohm felt a little relief.
He looked out at the dark night, then picked up the phone on his desk to call a competent secretary.
Exhausted, he needed to relax.
