Chapter 133 - New Abilities

"Congratulations, Host. You have obtained new abilities."

"Acquired Super Defense! Super Strength! Your defensive capabilities have been greatly enhanced, and your strength significantly increased."

"Acquired Psychic Shock ability! This increases the Host's mental fortitude and allows you to project your mind outward to form psychic attacks."

"Acquired Flame Manipulation ability! Since Venom is naturally weak against fire, you may choose to forgo this extraction. Choosing to forgo it grants a substantial boost to fire resistance."

"Acquired Sonic Attack ability! Since Venom is naturally weak against noise, you may choose to forgo this extraction. Choosing to forgo it grants a substantial boost to sonic resistance."

Hearing the system's voice in his mind, Meng Ran felt a wave of satisfaction.

Amused in his own way, he thought to himself, "This monster and Blackwater really are generous. Every time, they hand me new abilities."

"I hope they continue giving me even more in the future. Never stop."

Pulling his thoughts back, Meng Ran immediately chose to forgo extracting the Flame Manipulation and Sonic Attack abilities.

He intended to use these two abilities to further enhance Venom's resistance to fire and sonic attacks.

Sure enough, the crisp voice echoed in his mind again once he made the choice.

"Flame Manipulation ability forgone. Venom's fire resistance has increased dramatically."

"Venom's fire resistance is now maxed out. Vulnerability to fire has been completely removed."

"Sonic Attack ability forgone. Venom's sonic resistance has increased dramatically."

With this extraction, Venom had effectively eliminated one of its weaknesses.

Now, its vulnerability to fire was completely gone; only the sonic resistance remained imperfect.

After completing the ability extraction, Meng Ran opened his eyes.

The three people lying side by side on the ground were completely lifeless.

A few seconds after Meng Ran had Venom infiltrate their brains, the chips inside had activated their self-destruct mechanisms, turning their brains into mush.

Meng Ran then took out some corpse-dissolving fluid and poured it over their bodies.

With a sizzling sound, the three corpses quickly dissolved into a light smoke that drifted away on the wind.

After extracting the abilities and disposing of the bodies, Meng Ran returned with the group to the Hexagram Alliance's base.

All six members were seated in the conference room, preparing for the upcoming meeting.

This meeting was primarily to discuss Blackwater and the Monster.

First, Liu Xiu would brief them on his prior encounters, as well as what he knew about Blackwater and the Monster.

Liu Xiu first scanned the room, then slightly lowered his head, seemingly pondering how best to begin.

After a moment, he raised his head and began to speak solemnly about his story.

"I used to have a happy family. I had a very powerful father and a mother even stronger than him."

"They were both S-Class superhumans working for the Monster Corporation."

"My father was a psychic; he possessed incredible mental power."

"My mother's ability was Gravity Manipulation. Her power was so strong that she was called the Queen of Gravity by the company."

"Normally, it's rare for a generation of such superhumans to have children, but they unexpectedly had me."

"It was because of my existence that they decided to escape the company."

"At the age of ten, I awakened certain abilities—enhanced physical attributes and a strong self-healing factor."

"Because I awakened my abilities and was a special second-generation superhuman, I did not need the Cradle to incubate powers. As a result, the Monster Corporation demanded I have a chip implanted and undergo further research."

"Implanting this chip meant my life and death were entirely controlled by the Monster Corporation."

"I would only be able to follow their instructions for missions, with no freedom to choose for myself."

At this point, Liu Xiu began explaining to the group how superhumans are created—a story his father had told him in his childhood.

"All superhumans are nurtured and incubated by the Monster Corporation's Cradle system."

"The Cradle is a large machine composed of many precise instruments. It emits a strange beam of light."

"Anyone wishing to become a superhuman first drinks a special potion, then enters the Cradle. After being exposed to the Cradle's light, there is a chance they will awaken as a superhuman."

"The Monster Corporation carries out two batches of incubations every year."

"The probability of becoming a superhuman depends on physical constitution and talent—both extremely important factors."

"And most importantly, becoming a superhuman also depends on luck."

"Luck?" The group exchanged puzzled looks.

Liu Xiu nodded and continued, "Yes, luck. My father once told me the first superhumans appeared during World War II."

"At that time, the chance of becoming a superhuman was about 20%, meaning most would die in the Cradle, and only a small fraction would succeed."

"Over time, the process improved. Before I lost my memory, the highest success rate reached 65%, with a stable average of around 60%."

"Because of their uniqueness, superhumans generally do not have children. That's why I am so special."

Hearing the success rates, the group was shocked—20% at the start was incredibly low.

"What about the classification of superhumans?" Meng Ran asked, curious after Liu Xiu's explanation.

Liu Xiu continued, "Superhumans are ranked based on tests conducted after they emerge from the Cradle."

"The classification mainly considers the effectiveness and power of their abilities."

"Generally, most fall into C or B grade. C is slightly stronger than normal humans, often considered defective."

"B grade is the most common among superhumans, typically possessing their own unique abilities."

"A and S grades are rare. A-grade superhumans exist in small numbers—less than ten per batch."

"S-grade superhumans are extremely rare. Their emergence largely depends on luck. Usually, only one appears per several batches."

"However, with good fortune, two might appear in a batch. My father and mother were two S-grades from the same batch."

"Because S-grade superhumans are so exceptional, the Monster Corporation provides them with abundant resources to cultivate their abilities."
