Kakashi had always kept it as a trump card, a technique to turn the tide of battle.
However, he realized he had overlooked one thing: he was still too weak. He shouldn't have actively intervened in a battle of this intensity.
He should have acted like a true ninja, waiting in the shadows for an opportunity, then using Kamui to land a decisive blow.
That was exactly what he did after Uchiha Itachi activated his Susanoo. But when he saw that his opponent's target was Sasuke and that he was about to succeed, he could no longer stand by.
"KAKASHI-SENSEI!!!"
It was Sasuke's voice calling out to him. Kakashi dimly registered it, but a wound like this was far beyond what he could endure. Ninjas were indeed too fragile.
Kakashi opened his mouth, but blood surged from his throat, making it impossible to speak.
'I see. So this is what Rin felt back then?'
The warmth was draining from his body. Kakashi's limbs felt icy and devoid of strength. In the end, he was just too weak.
It all happened too fast for anyone to react. Uchiha Itachi's genjutsu had been active from the very beginning, achieving an effect akin to Kyoka Suigetsu; a haze of truth and illusion that prevented anyone from truly harming him.
Kakashi's attempt to hide was perfectly clear in his eyes, but there had been no need to deal with him before. Now, things were different.
He watched Sasuke's journey from the despair of Tsukuyomi to the hope of being rescued by Kakashi, and finally to the now-dim eyes that saw Kakashi die right in front of him, drenching him in blood.
"Kakashi-sensei!" The Tailed Beast Mode Naruto realized the Susanoo he was fighting had vanished. He had been trapped in a genjutsu at some point, fighting nothing but air.
Gojo Satoru noticed Kakashi's condition. He grabbed Okkotsu Yuta by the collar, preparing to teleport over. If he could just get Yuta to use Reverse Cursed Technique, there was still a chance.
But the moment he saw Kakashi, it meant he also saw Uchiha Itachi standing right beside him!
"I can't allow that. After going to the trouble of thinning their numbers, how could I let you save him?"
It was Tsukuyomi again!
Gojo Satoru grit his teeth and drove his Senjutsu Chakra, more than half of his face turning to stone. He had to break the Tsukuyomi in the shortest time possible.
Unlike before, however, the figure of Geto Suguru appeared before him, blocking his way.
For a moment, Gojo Satoru found himself back in the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, with Geto Suguru leading a massive number of Cursed Spirits in an assault against him.
Though they posed no threat to him now, the sheer number of Cursed Spirits would delay him significantly. At this rate, he wouldn't make it!
The power of Reverse Cursed Technique regenerated his petrified body. The half-petrified face was pushed off by new flesh, shattering on the ground.
"Domain Expansion: Unlimited Void."
The Limitless technique expanded, dragging everything nearby into his domain. It was followed by an ultra-fast Hollow Purple that required almost no windup, annihilating the Cursed Spirits and Geto Suguru in a flash of light.
The Tsukuyomi, enhanced by Uchiha Itachi, was finally broken, but it had already cost him more than ten seconds.
Gojo Satoru stood in place, his expression grim. He knew he was too late.
Kakashi's corpse fell heavily to the ground, lifeless.
"How could this happen..."
Naruto arrived too late. Seeing Kakashi's body, a crazed aura erupted from him. However, the Nine-Tails' power had already been unsealed; his fury only amounted to more fury.
A pitch-black Tailed Beast Bomb gathered in his mouth. Right now, Naruto had only one thought: kill Uchiha Itachi.
"It's pointless. My only target here is Uchiha Sasuke. Hand him over to me, and I will leave immediately."
Uchiha Itachi showed no fear in the face of the attack. Instead, he began to provoke them, knowing that the more he said this, the less likely they would be to abandon Sasuke.
Sasuke, his face covered in blood, stared at Kakashi's body as if he'd been struck dumb. He made no move, but his eyes were pulsing violently.
'He still hasn't awakened his eyes, even after this? It seems I must continue…'
The Uchiha clan's reputation for enduring pressure was truly well-earned. That even this wasn't enough to awaken his Mangekyo almost made Itachi break character and demand to know why.
The Susanoo reappeared, its orange-red shield blocking the Tailed Beast Bomb Naruto fired. They were once again locked in battle.
"Kakashi-sensei is dead! And it was all your doing!"
"There's no way I'm handing Sasuke over to you! I'm going to avenge Kakashi-sensei with my own hands!"
The Tailed Beast Mode Naruto roared, venting his rage. Every single punch was thrown with his full strength, yet Uchiha Itachi matched him without giving an inch.
The power of the Curse Mark activated, strengthening Uchiha Itachi's body. He was able to exert such power only by relying on the massive reserves of Chakra and Cursed Energy within the mark.
Uchiha Itachi calculated who should be taken off the board next to better stimulate his foolish little brother.
After some thought, he focused his attention on Naruto, confirming him as the next target. Naruto, enveloped in the Tailed Beast's Chakra, felt goosebumps inexplicably crawl over his entire body.

A sharp pain shot through his right eye. Uchiha Obito felt a sudden, inexplicable chill, as if something terrible was about to happen.
In a daze, he saw through his Kamui connection that Kakashi and Uchiha Itachi were having a few 'heart-to-heart' words.
'Is he dead?'
Obito felt a strange sensation in his chest. He was supposed to despise Kakashi, so why was he feeling this way?
It must be because he didn't get to kill him with his own hands! Obito convinced himself once again, subconsciously wanting to intervene.
However, he didn't know any medical ninjutsu. Even if he brought him back with Kamui, what would be the point?
"[Persuasion]If you want to save him, then just save him. Indecisiveness is not a virtue."
"[Supplement]You can deceive others, but don't deceive yourself. You don't want to see Kakashi die, do you?"
Schwarzer had appeared behind Uchiha Obito at some point. Her words forced Obito to examine his own heart. He really... didn't want Kakashi to die.
"There's no need. It's too late. We'll just wait until the Culling Game is over."
In the time Obito hesitated, Kakashi had already died, which in a way made the decision for him. But the fact that everyone would be revived after the Culling Game was over brought him a sense of relief.
"Letting him exit the stage like this would be far too boring. Why not... use this?"
Schwarzer raised a hand in front of Uchiha Obito. In it was a pair of eyes he knew very well—the Rinnegan!
