Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Einzig, The Machine with a Heart

Artosh, creator of the Flügel, the strongest Old Deus.

As the strongest concept, theoretically no one in the entire world could defeat Him; He could easily end the war and claim ultimate victory whenever He wished.

In the original work, the Machine Ex Machina pierced His divine core, but exactly how they accomplished this remains unknown, as the author left it ambiguous.

It's speculated that He desired to witness the potential of the weak, thus holding back during the battle. Even so, the Machine Ex Machina paid the price of near annihilation.

Yet, by no means could Schwarzer alone contend with such an existence. The System couldn't fathom why Schwarzer would propose such a sudden idea!

"Are you insane?! Me, fight Artosh? Is that for real?"

It truly couldn't keep up with Schwarzer's thought process; the other party wasn't human, in a physiological sense.

"[Answer] As the strongest War God in Disboard, His power is overwhelming to other races. Based on this unit's calculations, the power of His Divine Strike, combined with your abilities, is sufficient to pierce the world barrier."

Schwarzer spoke very seriously. War God Artosh's Divine Strike was an attack utterly beyond all specifications; neither the Blessing of the Void-Zero nor a Core Burst could compare to it.

She didn't truly wish to defeat Him; merely provoking Him to act would be enough. Based on the analysis of Artosh's personality, this wouldn't be exceedingly difficult.

As for how she could calculate all this...

Only then did the System realize something was amiss. The data streams in Schwarzer's eyes were excessively exaggerated, clearly processing unimaginable information.

"You connected to my database? When?"

The System represented power transcending worlds; its database wasn't something just anyone could endure. It hadn't shared it with Schwarzer, despite her being a Machine Ex Machina, precisely because it feared her processor would simply explode.

"[Conclusion] Judgment correct, plan feasible."

The System's lack of denial meant her judgment was sound; utilizing Artosh's power could indeed open a passage between worlds.

She didn't explain to the System. The massive data light in her eyes vanished, all the glowing mechanical structures on her body shut down, and she collapsed onto the ground, clearly exhausted.

The System quickly understood what had happened. Boosting computational power by several orders of magnitude in such a short time, the answer was obvious.

Footsteps echoed from the underground ruins, abandoned for years, as an unfamiliar figure approached step by step.

It was a young male with red hair, and the highly futuristic mechanical components on his head indicated his identity: also a Machine Ex Machina.

"Pleasure to meet you. I am 'Einzig', the Machine Ex Machina Full Connectivity Command Unit."

The Full Connectivity Command Unit—Einzig.

He greeted her very formally, yet his movements and tone were somewhat peculiar, like he was... taking his first steps.

After all, he had only just confirmed his own name, and the data provided by Schwarzer had not yet been fully assimilated.

Only a few minutes had passed since the exchange in the data space, yet in this short time, he had already sought her out.

"Hello," Schwarzer responded politely, already aware of his purpose.

"'Observer' Schwarzer, the veracity of the information you provided has been confirmed. As per our agreement, the Machine Ex Machina Full Connectivity Command Unit will provide you assistance."

Einzig looked at Schwarzer; this was precisely why he had come.

"Observer"—that was the title the Machine Ex Machina bestowed upon Schwarzer after she proved her unique nature.

What Schwarzer shared with the connected collective were the analyzed data from the No Game No Life anime and novels, not her memories.

To make War God Artosh act, one would need at least the power to defeat a Flügel. For this, the only solution she could think of was to leverage the power of the Machine Ex Machina.

Having read the script was her greatest reliance. To allow Einzig to confirm the veracity of these so-called 'futures', she and he found data on the Core Burst within the System's database.

At this point in time, this secret weapon had not yet been created, but the System possessed its complete data. This alone was enough to prove the reliability of the future she knew.

Over the years, the System hadn't merely been chatting with her; it had organized all of Disboard's data into its database, and even a vast amount of data from other worlds.

This was no Baidu Baike-level information; the System had cross-referenced data from different worlds, consolidating it into intelligence with extremely high credibility.

Einzig extended his hand to her, offering a metal chess piece, clearly freshly manufactured.

"Before you leave Disboard, the Machine Ex Machina Full Connectivity Command authority will be yours."

Schwarzer took the piece, a 'pawn' from a chess set, seemingly symbolizing their status as tools.

"[Confirmation] This unit has acquired temporary command unit authority. Transaction complete."

This object was not a racial chess piece; its symbolic meaning outweighed its practical significance. What truly mattered was Einzig's promise.

"Then, what exactly is the meaning of the Machine Ex Machina's existence? It's time for you to tell me the answer."

Einzig asked Schwarzer. More than knowing the future, he cared about this.

This was his true purpose for coming. The transfer of authority itself didn't require physical contact; he came simply because he wished to.

Schwarzer pointed to her own chest, then pointed to his.

"[Answer] The meaning of the Machine Ex Machina's existence: your 'heart' will tell you the answer."

Such an explanation was as good as none, yet Einzig was able to understand her meaning.

"Although I have seen the future, without 'heart' data, it cannot be analyzed."

"[Notification] This unit has not mastered the algorithm related to 'heart'. The relevant data needs to await analysis by the individual named Schwi."

"[Supplement] Heart is an 'algorithm' unique to oneself; everyone is one of a kind."

Schwarzer herself was still searching for the answer regarding the heart; currently, she was merely a heartless machine—yet this didn't prevent her from offering guidance.

Einzig, having received his answer, looked thoughtful. After a moment of silence, he bid her farewell.

"Then I shall take my leave. Until you depart this world, the power of the Machine Ex Machina will be at your disposal."

Schwarzer took a deep breath and gripped the chess piece in her hand. The collective formed by numerous Machine Ex Machina began providing support, raising her computational power to an unimaginable level.

Instantly, all 27,451 armaments of the Machine Ex Machina were loaded. Such power was enough for her to defeat most opponents in this world.

Moreover, to Schwarzer's surprise, a 'card' appeared within her consciousness space.

The image depicted a red-haired Machine Ex Machina with closed eyes, as if praying, a single hand placed over its chest.

[Emotional Data—The 'Heart' of the Machine]

[The Machine, having learned of the future, seems to have begun searching for the meaning of existence. The 'heart' stirring for the first time symbolizes a transformation within him.]
