Chapter 2 - Her Death

Inside the room, Laim wrapped his hand around a blonde lady, hugging her close to his chest, with a duvet on top of their body.

Aurora froze, her breath turned shaky. Her world came crashing down, Liam was cheating on her. Her legs turned weak and she held onto the wall, her nails scraping its paint.

"I can finally show you proudly to the world. It will just be the three of us, me, you, and our child." He ran his hand through her hair.

Aurora's entire body shook, Liam had a child. This revelation was too much to bear; tears slid down her cheeks, and she wanted to run away, but her feet refused to move.

She didn't know what to do in this situation. Aurora decided to call the one person who would always have her back, Jenny. She would know what to do.

The lady shuffled closer to Liam, pressing her body against his, while drawing a circle on his chest, she said, "It took you over three years to get rid of her. Do you know how painful it is to watch you refer to that fat ass pig as your wife?"

That voice? Aurora's fingers on her screen paused, her head spinning as the realisation dawned on her.

"If I didn't get pregnant with your child, you wouldn't take the steps to kick her out of your life."

Jenny!

Whatever was left of her world was shattered, her throat burned from the unexplained pain that hijacked her.

She drew in slow breaths, her heart thudding in her ear, and her legs felt wobbly. She peeped into the room, her eyes blurred with tears. She never imagined a day when her husband would have a woman in their bed, and that woman was her best friend.

Her chest tightened as she slid down the wall and sat on the floor. Why? Why would the two most important people in her life betray her in this way?

"We both know you didn't love her. I still can't understand why you insisted on marrying her." Jenny added.

Still with a heavy heart, Aurora pushed herself up from the floor. Her vision is blurry and she could still hear them whispering to each other. She balled her fist, anger mixing with the ache in her heart.

Without thinking, Aurora pushed the door open and stepped into the room. "You monsters, how can you do this to me?" Her voice cracked as she yelled, and a vein appeared on her forehead.

A black line stained her face, her makeup was crumbling.

Liam and Jenny didn't flinch or make any attempt to pull away from each other, Jenny turned her head lazily towards Aurora. "She finally arrived. I was beginning to get tired of waiting for her."

They had it all planned, they wanted her to see them together in bed because the impact would be more devastating. Aurora's lips trembled and she clutched her hand by her side.

"How long has this been going on? Since when did these games begin?" Aurora's voice shook, staring at them with disgust.

"Let's see, how long has this been?" Liam tilted his head and pretended to count his fingers, "since before we got married," he said, his voice was cold and distant.

"You are supposed to be my best friend." Jenny was her other half. "You were supposed to always have my back."

"I did, watched it and made sure it's perfect as I stabbed you from behind." Her voice dripped with a thrill, like this was just another fun event to pass the time.

But for Aurora, this betrayal was too heavy, she steadied herself by holding the edge of a dresser. There was a bottle lying close to the bed and empty glasses on the glass table in the middle of the room.

She shifted her gaze to Liam, "and you are my husband," her breath was heavy.

"No darling, I'm sure you've seen the news since you are here looking all …" his lips pulled to the side as he stared at her face, "messy." He looked pointedly at Aurora, his voice sharp as he spoke. "We are divorced. Take your things and leave."

"I never signed any divorce papers," Aurora claimed curling her fist at her side.

"You did. You sent them over earlier today." He peeled away from Jenny and stood up, he had nothing but his briefs on.

Jenny sat straight, holding the duvet to her chest. She smirked as she stared at Aurora, "Here are the papers." Liam tossed the paper to Aurora. "See for yourself."

Her signature sat at the bottom of the paper, proof of her agreement to their divorce. He tricked her into signing the divorce papers, she finally understood why he called her repeatedly to sign and send the papers over.

She had been so busy editing and finishing Jenny's manuscript that she didn't get to read it. She trusted Laim and never even imagined that it was a divorce paper.

"I knew she wasn't going to read them." Jenny sneered. "Liam and I have been together before your wedding. He loves me, and I do too. I couldn't tell you because I needed you to conclude my series. Now that it's done, there is no need for you."

She placed one hand on her stomach, rubbing it in circles, "Plus I'm already pregnant with Liam's child."

Aurora's leg gave up, and she fell to the ground. "Why would you do this? I've sacrificed so much for you. I wrote your books, stayed up all night, killed my dream just so you could have the spotlight and be happy, and this is how you repay me?"

"And for that I allowed you to stay in Liam's life till now. But your time is up now. We don't need you anymore." She was only a tool for her; now that her use was over, she could be discarded.

Each word felt like a needle pricking Aurora's heart.

Liam smiled as he stared at Jenny, his eyes softening, "Jenny is better, people fall out of love when they find someone better. Why should I keep a barren woman at home when I can get a child? I've moved on; you should, too. Let's not see each other again, take your things and get out." Aurora's stomach turned violently.

A cocktail of emotions hit Aurora; she stared at the floor, wondering how her life could end in one night. "Don't let the door hit you behind," Jenny added.

Aurora lifted her head, anger settling in the pit of her stomach. She can't let them get away with this, especially Jenny, she had given up her career to build hers.

She sprang to her feet and lunged towards her, fueled by the pain from betrayal. She grabbed a handful of her hair and yanked it roughly.

Jenny, who had not expected this, let out a loud painful shriek, reaching to grab Aurora's hair.

"You snake, rotten back stabber, I'll make sure you pay," Aurora screamed.

"Mad woman, let go of her," Liam rushed towards them, pulled Aurora off Jenny and pushed her roughly to the side. Aurora lost balance and fell backwards, crashing into the glass table.

Crack.

"Are you okay?" Liam asked Jenny, ignoring the crashing sound.

Pain ripped through Aurora's head. Her head had slammed directly into the sharp corner of the glass table, and blood oozed from her head. 'Help me,' Aurora tried to say but her lips didn't move.

"Is… is she dead?" Jenny asked, her voice drenched in dread.

Liam and Jenny's voices were distant as a blurry vision of them hovering over Aurora's face, "I think she is." Liam answered. "Oh no, what do we do?" She asked, looking over at the girl in her pool of blood, with shreds of glass scattered on the floor.

Pain spread through Aurora's head, her words caught in her throat, her eyes fluttered, and warm tears rolled down her cheeks.

"We make sure no one finds out about this." Liam's chest heaved up and down. Aurora tried to move her body, she wanted to stand and fight back, but moving felt like a chore.

"First, we have to make sure she is dead." Jenny stood over Aurora, her lips curled to the side, her expression calculating. She looked around, spotting a bottle, she picked it and rammed it on Aurora's head, emptying the contents.

Aurora's ear rang, it felt as though her skull was separated from her brain.

Liquid dripped from the sides of Aurora's face as she lay motionless on the floor. "We should have gotten rid of her sooner," Jenny said, staring at Aurora like trash on the floor. Liam nodded in support.

With a heavy heart, Aurora slowly closed her eyes and surrendered to the darkness that covered her.
