Chapter 5 - Chapter 4 The Bravery Soul

Hmmm… sounds good! I wouldn't say no to your ideas," Phoenix said, grinning mischievously. "You're giving me an idea of how to trap you in my life, young lady!"

Princess narrowed her eyes. "I was kidding, you know. I hate the thought of being trapped in someone's life—it makes me feel like a prisoner. I'm not like the other girls you used to have fun with. I'm different."

Phoenix's smile softened. "Yeah… you're very different from them. I've never even seen you wear a dress. But it doesn't matter—you're still a goddess in my eyes. You never try to look beautiful for anyone, but even without effort, you're still prettier than anyone else."

He tilted his head, curious. "But what I don't understand is… why are you here? In my grandfather's house?"

He pointed a finger at her forehead. "This isn't good for a girl like you. You trespassed on my grandpa's property. Sometimes, you need to use your head for your own safety. What if this place didn't belong to my family? How could I protect you then?"

Phoenix sighed heavily, running his hands down his face in frustration.

Princess's voice cracked as she finally spoke, her guard lowering. "I don't have a place to hide when I feel so low. I don't have friends I can call when I need them. I don't have… anything, you know? But I would never steal from your grandpa's place. I just needed somewhere—anywhere—to hide, even for a little while."

Her cheeks burned with embarrassment. Being caught trespassing was one thing—but being caught by Phoenix made her feel even more exposed.

Phoenix studied her for a moment, then finally nodded. "Alright. I'll give you three days to stay here. No more than that. My grandpa's coming home soon, and I don't want him to find you here—it'll only give him the wrong impression about you. If you want to keep coming here, we'll tell him that we visit together from time to time. But no more sneaking in, okay? No more intruder stuff."

Princess's eyes lit up. Relief washed over her as she managed a smile. "Thank you, bro. That means a lot to me," she said, trying to cover her happiness with a grin.

"Suit yourself. Be comfortable," Phoenix replied. "But if you're staying here, then I'll stay too—so when Grandpa comes back, he'll know you're with me."

After hearing Phoenix's words, Princess felt ashamed of herself.

"I'm sorry… I think I should go," she whispered, her voice trembling. "It's better if I stay in a hotel tonight. You're right—this is the most stupid thing I've ever done in my whole life. If your grandpa or your parents find out we stayed under the same roof, what will they think of me? I should just… leave."

She grabbed her overnight bag, ready to walk out.

Phoenix let out a sharp laugh, though his eyes burned with anger. "Are you serious? You're worried about what people might think if they knew we were here together all night? That's nothing compared to what could have happened to you. Did you even stop to think about that?"

His voice grew colder. "What if the owner of this house wasn't my grandpa? What if he was a rapist? Do you think you'd even still be alive right now? Even if people searched for you, they'd never find you—because they'd have already buried you after killing you. How's that? Sound great, huh?"

The sharpness of his words struck Princess like a blade. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling down her cheeks.

"You're right… I was so stupid," she admitted, choking back sobs. "And now… now it finally sinks in. Everything you just said is true."

Her chest ached, but somewhere deep inside, she felt something unfamiliar—something she had never felt toward anyone before.

Because the truth was, this boy—though he was her age—thought and spoke like a man far older. He was harsh, but it wasn't cruelty. It was care. Real care. The kind of care she had never known, the kind that made her heart ache in a way she couldn't understand.

The moment Phoenix heard Princess crying, his chest tightened. He felt devastated.

Panic surged through him. He had no idea how to stop her tears.

Oh God… what have I done?

Without thinking, he pulled Princess into his arms and held her tight.

"Shhhh… stop crying, lady," he whispered against her hair. "I didn't mean to hurt you. I swear, I didn't."

His voice cracked with urgency. "I'm just… afraid, that's all. I was worried about you, and I didn't know how else to say it."

He clenched his jaw, frustrated with himself. "Damn it… I've never felt this way before. I've never been afraid for any girl in my life—not until you. You act like you don't care at all, but I do. I can't help it."

He pulled back slightly, just enough to look into her teary eyes.

"Just understand this—I can't leave you here alone. Do whatever you want, think whatever you want about me, but I'm not letting you face this by yourself. Not anymore."

His arms tightened around her as if he feared she might vanish.

"You'll just have to bear with me in your life… because I won't let you go."
