Chapter 7 - Quest take-on (3)

{Bonus box}

It was the reward I got for completing the quests. Now, I sat on the edge of the bed in my apartment, trying to process everything. A full day had passed since I cleared the gate, a gate that would have claimed my life if not for my staff. Man, it's quite embarrasing to only be alive because of a weapon now that I think about it.

I shifted my gaze to the box resting on the table. It was plain. Wooden with a small red ribbon hanging from it. You could easily have mistaken it for an antique or a small toy. However, my chest pounded with anticipation. I felt excited and wary. What if I opened it and it was some type of nasty prank the system gave me? What if I open it and it wasn't even useful for me to use?

"Eh, no bother thinking about it."

There was the sound of a click as I opened the lid, white glow emitting from the runes bound to the side of the box. The light filled the apartment as I peaked inside.

Oh my, what's this?

"… Are you saying that an unknown organisation had suddenly came out of nowhere and threatened us?"

"..That's right, boss.."

"Have you at least figured out who they were?" The man asked, turning over his chair. This man was one of the strongest S-ranks currently in Korea, leading a guild called Overkill. Suho kim.

"Not yet, all we have gathered so far was that they seem to be keen on gathering {Skaldren bones}, other than that, nothing much was known about their goal, let alone their identity." The woman responded, pushing her glasses up her nose. "Although we do suspect that they were the cause of one of the gate's malfunctioning from last time."

Suho's eyes widened with curiosity. "Oh ho? Is that so?" He mused, tapping his finger on the table. His guild mates had been too busy clearing a gate that was on the verge of breaking out that they couldn't rush over to the malfunctioned gate. By the time they had arrived, someone had already cleared the gate.

"About that organisation. Do make sure to set up a full inspection on them." He got up from his seat, throwing his jacket around his shoulders. "I'll be going out for a bit."

"Where to, boss? You currently have a full schedule." The woman smiled, showing him the schedule paper she had in hand. "As you can see here, you still have a meeting with the Thunder's Guildmaster to discuss important matters about the association. And that meeting is in an hour, so what's so important that you're going out instead?"

"…" Suho sighed, knowing he had lost to his own secretary. He sat down again, "Alright, secretary Eun, no need to smile that devishly. Will he be coming over here soon?"

Secretary Eun nodded, "That's right. So while you're waiting for him, should I-"

ding!

Both people glanced over at the elevator. 'There shouldn't be anyone coming this early though?' Suho thought, looking over at his secretary. The person in question glanced at the paper in her hand, her eyes moving left to right as she read the today's to-do list. She looked at her boss and shook her head.

Suho's face immediately darkened. 'Who could be coming at this time?'

The elevator opened, revealing a tall, middle-aged man in his 30s. Red eyes turned to Suho and the man immediately rushed over. Suho's eyes widened.

"Yoojin? What are you doing here? I thought the meeting was in a hour?" The S-rank asked, glancing at his ally. Yoojin, the guildmaster of the Thunder Guild. He was the only S-rank that Suho could trust, considering the distrust between the S-ranks in Korea.

The last time he tried to have a conversation with an S-rank from overseas, a huge battle had erupted between him and the other guy, destroying nearby buildings and causing a huge explosion that had nearly killed innocent bystanders. Because of it, Secretary Eun was tasked to stay by his side whenever he was in a meeting.

Although…

The man looked tired, did he rush over here?

Secretary Eun looked at Yoojin closely, looking at his messy attire and his wild white hair. His shirt was wrinkled and his tie wasn't even done properly. 'It looks like he just rolled out of bed…' She thought.

"Excuse me, Sir Yoojin, what happened?" She pointed out his entire body.

"Aha..there seemed to be a bit of a tussle at my pla-"

"Cut to the point, Yoojin, you look like you're about to keel over even though you're an S-rank."

"haaa.. aren't you the impatient type, Suho?" He smirked, crossing his arms. Suho only glared.

"Okay, okay.. cough, some unknown organisation had penetrated our headquarters security, don't ask how cause we don't know either, and our team had a full-blow battle. Because of that, our building was absolutely destroyed. We only managed to save some of our most important valuables."

"Actually, you might end up seeing it at the news actually."

"…" Suho blinked rapidly, trying to process what he just heard. His mouth fell slightly open in shock.

"Excuse me?"

"Crazy, right? So I was actually going to ask for a favour if my guild mates can stay over at your HQ for some time while I figure something out, is that okay?" Yoojin asked, glancing at the other man who was sitting on the chair looking quite baffled.

The man just nodded dazely. "Of course you can." He coughed into his hand before looking serious again. "Stay as long as you like."

"Yes, thank you. We'll make sure to keep ourselves home. By the way, our base is expected to be rebuilt completely in a few months."

"…"

"I'll see you soon."

Yoojin turned and left from where he came from.

Silence washed over the office. Secretary Eun shuffled awkwardly on the spot. "Well, Boss… I'll go and help the Thunder Guild settle in… I'll make sure to inform our hunters too.."

She took the time to quickly walk over to the exit and disappeared into the hallways.

Suho sighed, "This crazy organisation..how on earth did they manage to take down such a place? Korea will be in an uproar now.. I only hope it settles quickly."

'Anyways, why does it feel like I'm forgetting something? Oh, damn! Weren't we supposed to talk about matters regarding the association?'

| Thunder Guild Headquaters had fallen after a fierce battle between its members and an unknown organisation. Because of that, civilians have become worried for Korea's safety.|

|"I tell you now, Korea is done!" The bystander who was there at the scene was currently being interviewed by a reporter.

"Those random cloaked people were pushing the guild back! If the second strongest Guild had managed to be defeated, that means the people were strong!" The man continued. He looked frightened, as if life had flashed between his eyes. He looked at the TV directly, "If you live in korea, I suggest going somewhere else! This place is doomed for, i'm telling you-"

zap

|Now the question remains, what will become of South Korea?"|

I stared at the TV, completely dumbfounded. Hold on, wasn't this event supposed to roll by later? Why did it crash into my schedule like some uninvited guest?

I turned the TV off, before shuffling to my egg settled neatly on my table. That's right, an egg! Not the kind of egg you can eat though.

Thanks to my appraiser skill, I found out that apparently this was a spirit egg that was said to have come from a legendary beast. This egg was my 'reward' for completing the quest.

At first, I actually thought that the system was trolling me, I even filed a formal complaint. I worked my butt off in order to get this prize and all I got was some breakfast, seriously?

Because of that, I was furious about it. Work hard, get the reward box, and bam egg. Who wouldn't be?

I nearly died to those monsters! But then I started wondering about what could be inside. A dragon? Perhaps even a phoenix? Maybe something that can cook me food. That thought started to calm me down…slightly.

Sadly, I still wasn't able to figure out how I could open the damn thing so I decided to just leave it inside my sub-space and pretend it didn't exist.

"Anyways, I recognise those clowns.. weren't they the organisation that was responsible for the SS-rank in the future? I've heard rumours that their leader was actually overpowered.. doesn't that mean we're totally screwed then?"

Then I shrugged, 'Eh, not my problem. Those people can handle it themselves.' With the wisdom of a man who knew how to mind their own business, I threw myself into the bed and knocked myself out into a deep dream.

|Important notice! If you are in Daegu, please evacuate immediately! I repeat, if you are in Daegu, please evacuate! A gate break has occurred, it is said to be an A-rank. Please leave your belongings and evacuate!|
