Chapter 5 - papa klaus 5

I took a short trip around the globe—work-related, or so I told everyone. I left the children with Jenna and set off.

I don't plan to be gone long, but I need to seal my deal with Qetsiyah as soon as possible.

I have to grow stronger. I can't just storm straight to Silas's island—not yet. And it's not just my physical powers that are far greater than they were in the show. My psychic abilities are on an entirely different level too—which means Silas must have evolved even further.

One of the vampires I keep posted to watch over my children told me there was an immensely powerful being in Los Angeles—someone who runs a bar, and goes by the name Lucifer.

The most interesting part? The building where that bar stands is mine. Or rather, it was leverage the original Klaus held over a witch—she handed it over to keep him from killing her. Though, to be fair, he started it—sending vampires to attack that very coven in the first place.

My old self was a deeply unpleasant creature with a fragile ego. Left me quite the inheritance—enemies. So many enemies.

If my instincts are right… if I play my cards well, I might just bring the Devil over to my side. I have something he wants. And he can help me.

I could fly there in an instant—but why waste precious energy when I can travel in comfort?

Hours later…

I arrived in Los Angeles, waited for night to fall, then headed to the club. I made sure to mask my power—enough to feel formidable, but far from what I truly am.

I stepped inside: loud music, the scent of drugs, blood, and sin sharpened every instinct I had.

Glancing around, I noticed a group of werewolves watching me. Well—that's a good sign. If wolves are drinking here, the Devil clearly plays host to all three factions.

I ignored them and turned my attention to the bar. A stunning woman stood behind it—and I could feel her power. Well above average. Nothing close to mine, but stronger than most of the vampires I've posted around town. Comparing her to vampires… she'd likely be six or seven hundred years old.

"Gonna keep staring, or are you going to order?" she asked, meeting my gaze with a challenge. "And for the record—eating the patrons is strictly forbidden here."

"I wouldn't dare attack someone so powerful," I replied with an amused smile. "Nor someone so beautiful. If I weren't already spoken for…"

"I don't mind sharing," she leaned forward over the bar, putting herself on display. "And you're easy on the eyes yourself."

"My wife might," I winked. "So—where might I find…"

Time began to slow. And I hadn't even reached for my powers. Damn it.

I looked over and saw him: a tall, broad-shouldered man standing near a table. So it's that Lucifer—the one from the series, not that petulant "Daddy Issues" creature from Supernatural.

"Lucifer, your return to Hell has been decreed," the figure I took to be an angel said, standing behind his chair. "I do not know who freed you from your cage… but you must go back."

Right. Found him.

"Yes, yes," Lucifer sighed. "Back in the cage, Lilith, Azazel and their friends break me out, I fight Michael, apocalypse starts… no thank you. I like things just as they are."

Before the angel could reply, I walked over as if I owned the place.

"Evening, gentlemen," I said, smiling. "Think we could get time moving again? I was rather enjoying my conversation with the lovely lady behind the bar."

The angel stared at me, eyes wide.

"How can you—" He looked completely bewildered.

"You are the Devil, aren't you?" I said, meeting Lucifer's gaze. "I'd like to make a deal."

"Oh? What sort of deal?" He gestured to the empty chair. "But first—who are you?"

I sat down, ignoring the angel's glare.

"I am an Original Vampire," I said politely. "Klaus Mikaelson."

"You are not the Alpha Vampire," the angel cut in.

"Brother—an Alpha Vampire would never linger where his powers are dampened," Lucifer said to him, then turned back to me. "Yours is the most human of vampire bloodlines, isn't it? I've met your kind before."

"There are others?" I asked, curious. He mentioned an Alpha Vampire—one I'd never heard of.

"Not sure exactly what they are," Lucifer replied. "Grotesque things. Some soulless, some with jaws like sharks. Far weaker than your kind, though."

"Makes sense," I nodded. "But that's beside the point."

I slid a document across the table.

"What's this?" He eyed it.

"The deed to this building," I said. "Unless you'd prefer to be dragged back to Hell as your brother insists… I can sign it over to you."

I glanced at the angel.

"Now this is more like it," Lucifer said, picking up the paper. "What do you want in return?"

"Help me kill someone named Silas," I said.
