Chapter 304 - The Demon Dies Like a Lamp Being Extinguished

The platinum spear, composed purely of divine energy, instantly left his hand, tore through the air, and pierced directly through Solitaire, who was bound to the chair.

Solitaire stared intently at Flamme, her pupils reflecting his expressionless face.

She seemed to want to say something, her lips moving slightly, but the energy contained within the Holy Spear had already erupted within her.

"Ahhh!!!" A short, sharp scream escaped her throat, then stopped abruptly.

A dazzling platinum-gold light emanated from her pierced chest, as if a small furnace had been ignited inside. Divine magic swept over every corner of her body at an astonishing speed.

Her body began to dissipate, leaving no remains or blood, gradually. Only a thick black mist remained in place, which was forcibly purified in the holy light and eventually turned into a few wisps of insignificant black smoke, dissipating into the air.

The whole process was swift. In just a few breaths, the cowardly and afraid-of-death Solitaire vanished completely.

Even the chair that bound her was destroyed by this energy, leaving only a twisted and deformed base and ripples of energy in the air that had not yet entirely subsided. Even after the holy spear pierced and annihilated its target, its momentum did not diminish, and it was driven firmly into the stone wall inscribed with reinforced runes.

Boom!!!

A deep, yet extremely penetrating, bang exploded in the interrogation room.

Where the stone wall was struck, a huge, charred crater appeared instantly, with radially cracked edges, and countless pieces of rock fell. The entire room shook violently, and the magic lamps on the walls swayed incessantly.

The loud noise and magical fluctuations undoubtedly reached outside the interrogation room, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that they had even alerted others.

Flamme stood there, slightly out of breath.

She poured a great deal of magic into this light gun, expending a considerable amount of it, all to ensure that Solitaire could be killed entirely.

However, she still managed to do it. She personally eliminated the biggest hidden danger that could have revealed her secrets. However, looking at the empty chair base and the shocking hole in the wall, Flamme felt no relief whatsoever.

A vague unease quietly arose.

She didn't just kill one demon. It seems she also stifled more information. For example, could she get more information about the demons' movements, or even about Kurtz, from her?

But now, it's all too late. The demon dies as if a lamp has been extinguished. Flamme shook her head, trying to dispel these distracting thoughts.

Now is not the time for hesitation or regret. She had to address the situation immediately, then head to the northern battlefield to find Carlo.

She walked up to the twisted base, scrutinized it, and confirmed there were no traces of Solitaire left, indicating the Holy Spear's purification effect was thorough.

Then, she turned her gaze to the huge hole in the wall. This is too much of a commotion. A reasonable explanation is needed.

She thought quickly and once again gathered magic power in her hands, this time a relatively gentle earth elemental spell.

Flamme sifted through the rubble and dust on the ground, carefully repairing the holes in the wall while simulating traces of impact to make the scene look like the result of fierce resistance.

Just as she finished the rough repairs to the wall and hadn't had a chance to check for any omissions, bang!

The stone door to the interrogation room was suddenly pushed open from the outside by a tremendous force.

Ayla and Frieren rushed in with grave expressions. They were clearly alerted by the huge explosion.

"Flamme! What happened?!" Ayla asked urgently, her eyes quickly scanning the room.

The room was empty. There was no sign of the great demon. Even the chair was reduced to a base, and there was a small, cracked pit in the wall, along with residual, abnormal energy in the air.

Frieren didn't speak, but just looked at Flamme, as if to make sure she was alright.

Forcing herself to remain calm, Flamme took a deep breath and feigned anger, saying, "That demon... she suddenly attacked me, using some secret technique to break free of the restraints. I had no choice but to use holy magic to suppress her, but I didn't expect it to be so powerful that it killed her and caused considerable damage."

Ayla frowned as she looked at the mess on the scene.

She walked to the base of the chair, sensing the powerful, holy magical energy lingering on it, then looked at the apparent signs of holy magic on the wall.

From what they saw at the scene, Flamme's explanation made sense.

After all, the magical abilities of demons are incredibly diverse, so it's not surprising that this great demon named Solitaire possesses some special means of breaking free from restrictions.

"It's a pity, we haven't found out her real purpose yet." Ayla sighed. She never believed that Solitaire had infiltrated the Magic Association to learn human magic.

Unfortunately, the other party has now been killed by Flamme, so there is no possibility of interrogating her again.

"You know the effects of holy magic on demons," Flamme said, trying to keep her voice steady. "Especially attacks specifically designed for demons."

Frieren listened quietly, her gaze sweeping across the room again before finally settling on Flamme's face.

She asked softly, "Teacher, are you alright? The magical fluctuations just now were extreme." She was still a little unaccustomed to calling Flamme "Teacher."

"I'm fine." Flamme shook her head, avoiding Frieren's gaze. "I was just a little surprised that she was able to break free of her restraints."

She had to end the conversation as soon as possible to completely dispel the doubts of the two people in front of her.

"Ayla, Frieren, I need you to handle the aftermath here," Flamme said urgently. "I must leave for the north immediately!"

"Now?" Ayla was taken aback. "So soon? Is there a reason?"

"We can't wait any longer!" Flamme said firmly, with an undeniable urgency. "The appearance of this demon gives me a bad feeling. Since we haven't been able to get their true purpose out of them, we might as well go directly to the northern battlefield to investigate."

She managed to make a plausible reason.

Ayla and Frieren exchanged a glance. Although they felt that Flamme's reaction was a bit too hasty and strange, they could understand it considering the demons' conspiracy to infiltrate the association.

"Then wait a moment, I'll join you."

"Sister Ayla, you should stay at the association. The daily work here still needs your attention. Frieren, you should stay here too."

"Okay, then be careful." Ayla nodded.

"Thank you," Flamme said, no more, not even daring to look at the empty chair base again, and almost fled the interrogation room.

Watching Flamme's hurried departure, Ayla muttered to herself, "The Holy Spear, the most powerful magic of holy power, truly, leaving no room for error."

Upon hearing this, Frieren looked thoughtfully at the twisted chair base, a hint of doubt flashing in her eyes, but ultimately said nothing.

In any case, as long as Flamme is alright, that's all that matters.
