Chapter 224 - Chapter 224: Her Master is Flamme

Chapter 224: Her Master is Flamme

"Serie and Kurtz…" Frieren murmured the two names. "Could it be the elven saint Serie?"

"Most correct you are."

Serie didn't want to admit her identity, but when she saw Kurtz answer for her first, she closed her mouth again.

Every time she appeared before the world, she attracted a wave of adulation, even from the emotionally detached elves.

However, unlike the passionate gazes of other races, elves preferred silent observation. Especially when a circle of elves surrounded you without saying a word and just stared at you, that feeling made Serie even more uncomfortable.

To Serie's surprise, Frieren didn't react much when she heard her name. She simply nodded.

This reaction was very good. It suited Serie's taste perfectly.

She had even begun to ponder what kind of magic she should start teaching if Kurtz asked her to take Frieren as an apprentice.

However, her plan was destined to fail because Frieren's master had already been arranged by Kurtz.

"Kurtz…" Frieren turned her gaze to Kurtz again. "Could you be Kurtz, the Godslayer?"

"Oh?" Kurtz was somewhat surprised. This was the first time someone had heard his name and didn't think it was just someone with the same name, but the real person.

"Strange, why would you think that? That Kurtz is a human, he shouldn't have lived that long." Kurtz decided to probe the reason why Frieren thought that way.

"Because you possess magical power as immense as Serie's."

"Hmm…" Serie raised an eyebrow. "You can actually see that?"

"No." Frieren shook her head. "It's just a gut feeling."

"It seems to be some kind of innate magic, but she herself is unaware of it."

Having studied magic for over a thousand years, Serie immediately realized that Frieren must possess some kind of special magic that allowed her to sense the magical power of others, just like demons.

However, this magic was hidden, and even Frieren herself couldn't detect it, because she relied entirely on her subconscious intuition to observe.

"Interesting, quite a talent." Serie looked at Frieren before her, increasingly pleased. "Let her be my disciple." She spoke up, not even waiting for Kurtz to make the request.

"No, you've misunderstood. Her master is someone else," Kurtz quickly explained.

If Serie were actually to take Frieren as her apprentice, wouldn't she be driven crazy by Frieren in the future?

Although under his influence, Serie was no longer so obsessed with war and would work hard to save the world, just as he did.

However, Frieren and Flamme's understanding and attitude towards magic were destined to contrast with Serie's.

This was a future that even Kurtz couldn't change.

"Someone else? Who!?" Serie's eyes sharpened instantly, as if she wanted to compete with the other party.

"Of course it's Flamme! What did you think? Me?"

"Flamme?" Serie was a little confused. "Are you serious? That child is far from being a teacher."

Because of Kurtz's appearance, the timeline had accelerated somewhat. At present, Flamme was not as experienced and powerful as she had been when she met Frieren in the original timeline. She was just a barely decent magician.

However, Kurtz had no intention of breaking up the master-disciple relationship between Flamme and Frieren.

After all, it was much better for these two to be together than for Serie to be there.

"Let her learn at her own pace. It's something she'll have to go through sooner or later anyway."

"Hmph!" Serie stared at Kurtz for a while longer, and realizing that the man didn't seem to be joking, she could only snort helplessly and turn her head away.

Meanwhile, Frieren had overheard the entire conversation between the two, since Kurtz and Serie had no intention of hiding anything from her.

Now, upon hearing that they wanted to make Flamme her master, Frieren felt somewhat conflicted.

She was a self-taught mage, learning magic only through occasional encounters with other mages in the village and from some magic books. She had never received any formal magical instruction.

Now that she was suddenly being asked to be someone else's disciple, she inevitably felt a little uncomfortable.

But before she could refuse, Kurtz started questioning her again.

"By the way, Frieren, do you remember what happened before you came here?"

"Flamme and Ayla saved me," Frieren began, trying to recall the memories in her mind.

Although she had appeared to be unconscious, she still retained some awareness of the outside world. "I remember they seemed to activate a very complex magic circle, and then I was surrounded by many people, and then I didn't know anything after that."

Kurtz and Serie exchanged a glance. Those two were actually surrounded? Could it be that the magic power needed to activate the teleportation spell had been stolen by them?

The more they thought about it, the more likely it seemed.

In the past, in order to fight against the gods, Kurtz had created a magic that could intercept the power of faith, and a simplified version of this magic had been taught to Ayla by Serie.

"They used teleportation magic to bring you here," Serie explained succinctly. "No wonder the process seemed so difficult; judging from the magical traces, they were already surrounded."

"Are they in danger?" A hint of worry appeared on Frieren's small face. "Is it because of me?"

"The specifics are still unclear. Don't worry," Kurtz said, reassuring Frieren. "What you need to do now is tell us everything you know so we can decide how to help them."

He paused, then added, "Don't worry. Since they dared to do this, they must be confident they can get away with it."

This was partly true and partly comforting, but Kurtz did have a certain degree of confidence in his students and Serie's student, Ayla.

With their abilities, they could escape at any cost.

He was worried that the two would be too timid and surrender directly, which would be tantamount to handing their lives over to others.

Upon hearing this, the worry in Frieren's eyes dissipated, and she began to try to recall and recount: "My village was attacked by a demon general, led by a..."

She recounted in broken sentences the destruction of the village, her defeat and serious injury in battle against Rivale, and the appearance and killing of Rivale by Flamme and Ayla.

These were all things she had witnessed firsthand, so they were naturally crystal clear.

Her memory of what happened after that was a bit hazy.

Flamme must have carried her to a city where she received treatment. Although it didn't completely cure her, she felt much better, and even her consciousness became clearer.

"Later, I vaguely felt that I was placed in a damp place, surrounded by a powerful magical aura. Then I lost consciousness and woke up here."

After speaking, Frieren closed her eyes wearily, clearly having exhausted herself from recalling the events.

Kurtz and Serie listened quietly and had already gained a general understanding of the situation. They remained silent for a moment.

As expected, they had encountered that demon general!

But Frieren's injuries were far more severe than expected. The corrosive power was clearly the work of that Demon King.
