Chapter 216: Flamme's Battle
This power was enough to raze the entire village to the ground. The elves present were filled with shame and desperately cast defensive spells, but a sense of despair still overwhelmed them.
The village's most powerful mage had been defeated, and those present were mostly ordinary elves and minors, who were no match for this demon's attack.
Just as the devastating attack was about to be unleashed—BOOM!!
A thick, blazing white beam of light descended from the sky without warning, striking Balzac with perfect accuracy.
Although Balzac sensed the attack immediately, he was still thrown back by the violent shockwave. He crashed through several thick trees before finally coming to a stop.
Then, a figure appeared on the battlefield.
It was Ayla.
The attack just now was naturally unleashed by her. After knocking Balzac away, she immediately turned her attention to the demons attacking ordinary elves.
Her movements were swift, each beam of light hitting the demons with precision, turning the tide of the battle in just a few seconds.
"Don't panic!" Ayla's clear, cold voice rang out across the chaotic battlefield like a stabilizing force, instantly calming the elves' morale before it collapsed entirely.
Under her leadership, the surviving elven warriors began to launch an organized counterattack and cover the villagers' retreat.
"Damn it! What are those scouts up to?!" Balzac struggled to his feet, his armor covered in charred marks, though the damage was superficial.
He stared intently at Ayla, his eyes filled with undisguised murderous intent. "You think you can stop me all by yourself?"
Although he didn't know where this elven mage had come from, Balzac didn't care. As long as this elf was killed here, Macht's plan could still proceed. He roared and stomped his foot hard against the ground, charging toward Ayla.
Balzac was not only a magician but also a warrior skilled in melee combat. When facing someone like Ayla, who appeared to be a dedicated mage, he didn't hesitate to close the distance. Once near, he would have a hundred ways to kill this seemingly weak elf.
However, just as he was about to rush in front of Ayla, a figure stepped in front of him faster.
Flamme!
She had landed sometime earlier and now stood directly in Ayla and Balzac's path.
Holding her wand, her face no longer bore its usual timidity; instead, an unprecedented solemnity had settled over her features. Her magical aura began to manifest, swirling around her like a vortex.
"Your opponent is me." Flamme's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable force.
Because of Flamme's sudden appearance, Balzac's charge stalled abruptly, his massive body stopping just a few steps in front of her.
He sized up the human who had suddenly appeared before him. After recognizing the magical aura surrounding her, he burst into deafening laughter: "Hahahaha! A human mage? You think you can stop me? Get out of my way!"
He drew the greatsword from his waist and slashed down at Flamme without mercy. He was determined to cut this reckless human ant in front of him, along with the elf behind her, in two.
When Ayla saw this, she instinctively moved to help.
Although she knew that Flamme was someone valued by Mr. Kurtz and Teacher Serie, the power of the demon general before her was extraordinary, and she worried that Flamme alone would not be able to defeat him.
But before she could step forward, Flamme's voice cut through the moment.
"Sister Ayla, please go and deal with the other demons. Leave this to me!" Flamme's voice was slightly hurried, yet unusually firm.
Without even turning around, she released a defensive spell in the blink of an eye, blocking Balzac's powerful attack. Ayla's movements came to an abrupt halt. She saw Flamme block the strike and felt the pure magic surging around her.
She instantly understood Flamme's intention; she wanted to face Balzac alone and prove herself.
"Be careful," Ayla said quietly.
After giving her instructions, she turned and rushed toward the demons ravaging the other side of the village. She chose to believe in this human child, recognized by Teacher Serie.
"You're asking for death!" Balzac's rage intensified when he saw that Flamme had not only blocked his attack but also allowed his companion to escape. He increased the force of his downward strike.
Click!
The shield released by Flamme was instantly covered with spiderweb-like cracks and shattered completely in the next second. The greatsword slashed down directly at her.
However, just as that terrifying blade was about to touch Flamme's body, she moved.
Flamme unleashed her magic once more. She waved her wand, channeling her magic, and the aura surrounding her erupted with blinding light.
"Gravity stagnation."
Buzz!
An invisible, magical aura emanated from Flamme.
Balzac's attack came to an abrupt halt not far from her. Not only his attack, but his entire massive body, along with the greatsword in his hand, was pressed directly to the ground by an invisible force, rendering him unable to move.
Gravity magic.
This was a powerful spell that Flamme initially mastered and later refined under Kurtz's guidance.
Although the gravity magic she could release with her current abilities had a limited range, short duration, and consumed enormous amounts of magic power, it was enough to turn the tide of battle at crucial moments.
Balzac lay sprawled on the ground like a defeated beast, his eyes revealing disbelief and horror for the first time.
He felt as if a huge mountain was pressing down on him. He couldn't move no matter how hard he tried. Under this pressure, even the circulation of magic power within his body became extremely difficult.
How could this human possibly possess such powerful magic?!
Flamme's face paled for a moment.
Forcibly suppressing someone of Balzac's caliber, even for just a few seconds, consumed an extremely terrifying amount of her magic power.
But she did not waste this precious opportunity.
Just before the gravity effect disappeared, Flamme waved her wand once more. This time, it was no longer a defense, but an all-out attack.
The frost and the sun's spear appeared simultaneously, not just two, but dozens.
Flamme unleashed two completely different pure elemental magics at once. Under her skillful control, they formed a torrent of blue and white elemental energy that slammed fiercely into Balzac's chest in an almost fusion manner.
Rumble!!!
An explosion even more violent than the previous beam of light erupted across the battlefield.
