Chapter 214: News about Godfall Land
Kurtz pulled Serie along, quickly leaving the magic grimoire area filled with historical charm.
Karlo's unwilling gaze behind him was also blocked by layers of bookshelves.
"That formula just now—" Serie spoke softly, and to prevent anyone else from hearing, only Kurtz could hear her this time.
"Mm," Kurtz nodded slightly. "It is indeed my work."
"It should be one of the discarded formulas I casually recorded while creating magic during my travels back then."
"Is it highly complete? What type of magic is it?"
"Can't tell." Kurtz shook his head. "It should be a very complex magic, less than one percent complete, making it impossible to identify."
"So low in completeness?" Serie was a little surprised.
Given Kurtz's profound talent in magic, theoretically, he only needed to see a relatively complete magic formula to understand the entire magic.
"Mm, after all, it's just a discarded draft. I didn't expect it to have been passed down and found by that young man."
Kurtz's tone carried a hint of helplessness. "That thirst for knowledge and spirit of restoration are truly commendable, but unfortunately, he probably won't succeed."
"He doesn't look like he'll give up," Serie said indifferently, recalling the almost fanatical obsession in Karlo's eyes.
"Everyone has their own path," Kurtz sighed softly. "We can't choose for others. I hope that Akafu can keep an eye on him and prevent him from going astray." He tightened his grip on Serie's hand. "Let's go, there's nothing we need here for now."
Kurtz and Serie passed through the initial layers of the outer bookshelves, once again standing in the soft sunlight streaming through the glass windows on the first floor.
The atmosphere here remained the same, and the subtle heaviness brought by the fervent scholar gradually dissipated after they left.
"Where to next?" Serie asked after they walked out of the magic library.
Kurtz took a deep breath of fresh air and smiled. "Let's just wander around. Since we've come to this magic city, how can we not explore? I heard that magic materials from all over the continent are gathered here."
Serie had no objection to this.
In fact, she had limited interest in human creations, but exploring with Kurtz and observing his interest in these things was a joy in itself.
Moreover, they might also discover some rare magic materials that were not available in the Elf Forest.
The two merged into the bustling crowd and arrived at an area similar to a marketplace.
It was composed of countless large and small stalls and temporary shops, and what they sold were not ordinary goods, but various magic items and corresponding magic materials.
Kurtz stopped in front of a stall selling basic magic books, listening with interest as the stall owner boasted to a young magic apprentice about how his improved lighting spell was labor-saving and efficient.
Serie's attention was drawn to several strange, star-emitting flowers at a nearby stall.
"Miss, you have a good eye!" The old stall owner grinned, enthusiastically introducing, "These are Starlight Flowers."
"They only bloom at the roots of trees near specific magic nodes after absorbing enough starlight. They are the best material for making high-grade magic recovery potions, and they are not easy to collect, as their blooming period is very short."
Serie nodded. She occasionally learned some plant knowledge in addition to studying magic and knew that what the stall owner said was true.
But she was clearly more concerned about other aspects. "Is it bitter?"
The stall owner clearly didn't expect Serie to ask such a question, and after a moment of being stunned, she replied, "It shouldn't be bitter. The magic recovery potion made from it will have a hint of sweetness."
"Then I don't want it."
A magic recovery potion that wasn't bitter wasn't an authentic potion.
Serie firmly believed this.
Seeing Serie about to turn and leave, the stall owner quickly spoke. "Please wait! Please wait! If you want it to be bitter, you can add some Star Grass during the making process. The magic recovery potion will then become incredibly bitter!"
"Good! I'll take it! And pack me a portion of this Star Grass too!"
Serie spoke without hesitation, her decisive manner leaving the stall owner dumbfounded.
Humans had spent thousands of years constantly optimizing the formula for magic recovery potions, making them as easy to drink as honeyed water.
This was the first time she had encountered a customer who actively requested it to be incredibly bitter.
But the stall owner immediately packed it quickly and handed it to her.
Serie didn't ask for the price immediately, after all, her wallet was still on the other side. It wouldn't be too late to pay after that human finished browsing.
Just then, her gaze inadvertently swept over an inconspicuous wooden box in the corner of the stall.
Inside the box were casually piled some black fragments that looked like ordinary stones, completely out of place with the other items on the stall.
However, Serie sensed something was off.
She calmly picked up a fragment. It was cool to the touch, very hard in texture, but had little weight.
Inside the fragment, in a place imperceptible to ordinary people, there seemed to be a very faint but familiar feeling remaining.
"What is this?" she asked the stall owner.
The stall owner glanced at it and waved her hand. "Oh, these! They are just Worthless trinkets. They are broken stones that a few adventurers picked up from the outskirts of the Godfall Land in the west."
"They said that the black mist there had recently dissipated a bit, and these small black stones fell out from inside. I found them curious, so I collected a few as a souvenir."
"Miss, do you want them? Then I'll give this to you." The stall owner pointed to the black stone in Serie's hand, looking unconcerned.
If it weren't for those young people's persistent persuasion, she wouldn't have taken these things.
Serie rubbed the stone in her hand, her brows tightly furrowed.
The black mist of the Godfall Land had begun to dissipate? She subconsciously looked at Kurtz.
Kurtz also noticed the movement here. He walked over, his gaze falling on the black fragment in Serie's hand.
His expression seemed to remain largely unchanged, but Serie could feel that the aura around him instantly solidified for a moment.
Kurtz extended his hand, and Serie handed him the fragment.
Kurtz's fingertips lightly traced the edge of the fragment.
Without injecting magic, merely by perceiving the familiar power, he touched the remnants of divine power within the fragment.
Although it was so faint as to be negligible, its nature was of the same origin as the power of that Demon King.
"It Came out of the Godfall Land?" Kurtz asked.
"Mm, it seems the black mist there has already begun to dissipate," Serie explained from the side.
"I heard it's already light enough to see inside. Those adventurers even plan to go in and explore once the black mist completely dissipates," the stall owner interjected.
Kurtz and Serie exchanged glances, both seeing the solemnity in each other's eyes.
From a temporal perspective, the black mist of the Godfall Land shouldn't have dissipated so quickly.
Could it be?
Kurtz suddenly guessed a possibility.
