Chapter 196 - Chapter 196: That's Enough for Today

Chapter 196: That's Enough for Today

At the center of the storm, a figure had appeared at some unknown point.

It turned out that Kurtz had taken advantage of the raging energy to charge forward directly, once again brandishing Orger and fiercely striking the magical barrier.

Even the Demon King had not expected Kurtz to be so daring.

Her barrier was originally strong enough to withstand that man's attack, but as Kurtz exerted his strength, it shattered directly.

The moment Orger cleaved through the golden barrier, Kurtz did not hesitate in the slightest. His entire body, like an arrow released from a bowstring, directly lunged in front of the Demon King.

The surrounding demons, seeing this scene, simultaneously let out a cry of alarm.

They had never imagined that this God Slayer would be so insane.

Even as the turbulent magical currents, which had almost shattered space itself, had yet to subside, he dared to advance instead of retreat, pushing through the powerful shockwave to launch such a rapid close-quarters assault.

Isn't he known as the oldest human mage? Why does his fighting style resemble that of a mindless warrior!?

Facing Kurtz's attack and seeing Orger so close, the Demon King was shocked; she had not anticipated that Kurtz's offensive would be so straightforward and decisive.

However, her battle instincts still made her react. Instead of dodging or casting a more potent defensive magic, she raised her slender right arm, her wrist meeting the tip of Orger's blade.

Pfft!

A dull thud of flesh being pierced came.

When the energy turbulence finally ended, it revealed a scene that made the hearts of all Seven Sages of Destruction and demons stop.

The Holy Sword Orger in Kurtz's hand, the weapon that had once slain gods, had clearly pierced through the Demon King's right wrist.

The sword tip emerged from the other side of her wrist, and dark golden blood slowly trickled down the blade, reflecting an eerie luster under the dim sunlight.

The scene was full of powerful visual impact. The silver blade, piercing through a slender, fair wrist, presented a strange beauty.

However, on the Demon King's beautiful face, there was not a trace of pain. She even tilted her head slightly, looking at her pierced wrist, and a hint of playfulness appeared in her eyes.

"Truly decisive," she said slowly, her voice steady with a touch of praise. "Seizing every chance, not even hesitating to risk danger to achieve a one-hit kill—truly fitting of you."

However, unlike her calm demeanor, a storm was raging in Kurtz's heart.

He had imbued this sword strike with magic, but the moment it pierced into the opponent's wrist, he felt as if he had stabbed into an unimaginably dense, viscous object; the blade, after piercing the wrist, could not move another inch.

What startled him even more was the extremely strange sensation transmitted from Orger's blade.

The dark golden blood within the opponent's body seemed to possess life and terrifying assimilative power; as soon as it touched the blade, the sacred power contained within Orger emitted a faint wail.

The brilliant light flowing on the blade visibly dimmed, as if being polluted by some powerful force.

Through his connection with Orger, he could clearly feel that the strange power contained within the blood was trying to spread along the blade, like a living thing, eroding Orger's essence, intending to merge it, to become part of the opponent's power.

"Not good!"

Without hesitation, his internal magic instantly erupted, forcefully pouring into Orger's blade, making it burst forth with dazzling light again to dispel that strange aura.

At the same time, he exerted force abruptly, forcefully pulling Orger out of the Demon King's wrist.

The moment the blade left the body, it brought out a string of dark golden blood beads, like molten metal liquid.

But the wound did not gush blood; instead, under everyone's horrified gaze, the dark golden patterns beneath the skin began to squirm, and the wound healed at a visible speed.

In an instant, it returned to its original state, leaving only a shallow white mark.

This self-healing ability had already surpassed the scope of ordinary creatures, closer to a kind of life-level reconstruction.

Kurtz's figure retreated several steps, instantly putting dozens of meters between himself and the Demon King.

He looked at the Demon King's intact wrist, and the solemnity in his heart climbed to its peak.

This New Demon King, after fusing with the Goddess's fragment, had become a life-form that completely exceeded common sense.

"Did you see, God Slayer?" The Demon King raised her recently pierced wrist and lightly moved it. "This is the true Perfect Creation."

She then looked at Orger in Kurtz's hand and praised, "As expected of a sword that can slay gods, Orger can actually contend with my power, even if briefly."

Orger hummed lowly in Kurtz's hand, its tip pointing at the Demon King, radiating strong hostility.

Kurtz did not answer; he slowly adjusted his breathing, preparing to strike again—this time, he would not hold back, this attack would mobilize all his power..

However, just as Kurtz was mobilizing the magic within Orger's blade—

"Enough."

The Demon King suddenly spoke, her voice not loud, but clearly reaching the ears of everyone present.

She looked at Kurtz, her eyes carrying a strange feeling.

""Kurtz, and... Serie."" Her gaze swept over the two. "Let's stop here, for today."

As soon as these words were uttered, not only did Kurtz frown, but even Serie, who was preparing to strike with Kurtz, showed an incredulous expression.

Having fought to this point, with Kurtz about to use his true ultimate move, the opponent actually said she wanted to stop the fight!?

"What are you kidding about?" Serie's voice carried a hint of uncontrollable anger.

The Demon King ignored Serie's anger; her gaze remained on Kurtz, as if Serie's thoughts were not important.

"I know what you are looking for, Kurtz." The Demon King's voice carried a strange resonance. "The formula for the composition of life—you have pursued it for a thousand years, yet you have always lingered outside the door, unable to advance an inch."

'She actually knew this!? How?'

Kurtz tightened his grip on Orger, his eyes flickering, considering whether to go all out and make this Demon King disappear completely.

An enemy who not only knew him but also understood him so well was truly terrifying.

The Demon King naturally noticed Kurtz's small gesture and then spoke to reassure him: "Kurtz, you have already obtained the key to cross this great door. Isn't continuing to fight me to the death meaningless?"

"I think it's very meaningful. After all, no one wants someone in this world to covet them, right?"

"Heh!" The Demon King chuckled, shaking her head. "Schlacht's achievement, to you, is a key to immortality, but to me..." The Demon King's lips curved into a meaningful arc. "It's useless."

"Our paths, though they intersect, have completely different destinations."

She raised her hand, pointing at Kurtz, then at Serie, and finally at the devastated Demon King's City council hall.

"Today, you destroyed this place, killed Schlacht; are you still not satisfied?"

"I think it's still not enough," Serie said coldly.

She was infuriated with this posturing Demon King and really, really wanted to hit her face with a few Light Spears to shatter that stupid smirk on her face.
