Chapter 190: Serie's Curiosity
"Heh…" Kurtz let out a slow sigh, his gaze sweeping over the castle that was both familiar and strange. "It has some semblance of the Demon King's City from a thousand years ago. It seems Schlacht not only dug up a treasure but also learned the architectural style quite well."
Serie, on the other hand, had a flicker of disgust in her eyes: "It looks a bit sickening."
But then she looked at Kurtz, her tone carrying a hint of eager curiosity: "Since we've found their lair, how about we deal with them like we did with the first Demon King's City back then? I remember you said you summoned the Divine Kingdom and used centuries of accumulated faith power to erase it from the map, right completely? Can we replicate that again?"
Serie was very curious.
Although she hadn't experienced it personally, based on Kurtz's description, the scene of the entire Skywing Clan's accumulated faith power transforming into a light of judgment, instantly engulfing the Demon King's City, had always made her curious.
That was truly a power worthy of the name "Funeral." She regretted not going along with them back then; just listening to Kurtz and Kraft recount it had made her incredibly envious.
Now, a thousand years later, appearing again above the Demon King's City, it was the perfect opportunity to replicate it.
Upon hearing this, Kurtz slowly shook his head, his gaze still fixed on the Demon King's City below. "It's different, Serie."
He shook his head and began to recall: "The Divine Kingdom is not a tool that can be summoned at will; it is a complete nation. That strike a thousand years ago was based on a special foundation."
Kurtz explained: "The Skywing Clan itself had accumulated centuries of immense, unimaginable faith power, which not only provided the power source for the teleportation array but also supported the casting of the magic."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over the New Demon King's City below. "But what about now? The Skywing Clan has long since departed with the Life Goddess. In this world, there is no second nation that can gather such vast and pure faith power to be wielded. Moreover, given the current state of the Divine Kingdom, another summoning would likely cause it to disintegrate completely. Let's not, and leave Olivia a place to settle."
"Then what magic did you use back then?"
"A magic similar to Pseudo-God Strike, only it used faith power instead of magic power to drive it."
"Speaking of faith power, isn't El Light down there? How about we try it?"
Clearly, the Elf Miss hadn't given up. It seemed she really wanted to witness the sight of that faithful light devouring everything.
To this, Kurtz merely patted her head, "Alright! You go snatch El Light in front of all the Demons, and then I'll tell them in front of them that I'm about to unleash a big move, and they need not to hide and interfere with me."
"Hmm, that really won't work then." Serie slapped away Kurtz's presumptuous paw. She grudgingly tolerated one pat, but this audacious fellow dared to pat her several times; it was truly infuriating.
However, after hearing Kurtz's joke, the hint of curiosity in Serie's eyes extinguished, replaced by a touch of understanding. The scene from back then truly couldn't be replicated.
"So, what do you say? Should we force our way in?"
"Isn't that a bit too bold?" Kurtz hesitated.
"What? Are you scared?" Serie looked at him provocatively.
"Hey!!, don't use reverse psychology on me, but just in case, I'll set up a teleportation array."
Kurtz drew Orger, preparing to use its power to build a teleportation array. Serie, seeing this, seemed to remember something suddenly and asked: "By the way, can't we just use Orger to give them a full release?"
The scene of Kurtz using a fully released Orger to crush the Skywing Clan head-on was still vivid in her mind. A power that could even defeat the world's most potent offensive magic, let alone breaking through the barrier of the Demon King's City, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say it could directly level the entire Demon King's City.
"We can, but don't you want to do it yourself?" Kurtz smiled at Serie, but his eyes hid his own plan. Mainly, he was worried that if Orger's full release couldn't kill the New Demon King and instead forced him into a second phase, things would get a bit troublesome.
After all, according to Grausum, the New Demon King had fused with fragments of the former Fertility Goddess's power, thus gaining mighty strength. Kurtz couldn't even imagine how powerful someone would have to be for Demons to proclaim him their Demon King willingly.
Moreover, this situation was different from the original story. At least the Demon King that Himmel faced in the canon back then was definitely not as strong as this current one.
Kurtz wasn't sure how much his arrival had changed in the world line; the elves, who should have dwindled to just a few villages, were still thriving normally and, as a bonus, were the most powerful kingdom on the continent.
There was nothing wrong with expecting that even the Demon King's power must have changed, and with his past adventure, this demon would probably be much stronger than in the canon timeline.
Kurtz suddenly wondered if he could still pull out that Hero's Sword now. Kurtz didn't know and didn't bother to try; he already had enough swords to play a game of mahjong. For him now, the most important thing was to capture Schlacht alive and extract the information he wanted from him.
Under this premise, he naturally didn't want just to blast them with a light cannon; if one shot reduced the opponent to dust, he would suffer a significant loss.
"Hmm, indeed, a long-awaited chance to get some action isn't bad." Serie stretched her petite body, completely forgetting her recent rampage on the battlefield.
"Don't rush, wait until I finish constructing the teleportation array."
Just as Kurtz and Serie hovered high above, discussing how to deal with the New Demon King's City, the atmosphere in the deepest hall of the castle below was equally tense.
This was the council hall of the New Demon King's City.
In the center of the hall, a vast black throne hung empty; it seemed the New Demon King had not appeared here.
Below the throne was a large round table, surrounded by several chairs.
On three of these chairs sat three figures, each emanating a distinctly different, yet all heart-stopping, aura.
These three were the current Seven Sages of Destruction: Böse the Immortal, Macht of El Dorado, and Finn the Dead.
Slightly below these three Seven Sages of Destruction sat a slightly burly Demon. He was the Demon General Rivale, commanding the Demon King's City's most elite legion, and also the strongest warrior among the Demons.
A little further away from them, on a stone platform near the edge of the hall, Schlacht stood with his back to everyone, his full attention on El Light in front of him.
Complex magic arrays surrounded the sword, clearly indicating he was attempting to break the restrictions Kurtz had left behind.
