Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: The Sword of Humanity - Elsword

Chapter 58: Human Rights Sword - Elsword

A month passed in the blink of an eye.

After receiving Duller's notification, Kurtz and his party rushed to the magic workshop. The familiar scent of hot metal and magical residue greeted them as they entered the cluttered space.

Duller held a longsword in both hands, entirely silver-white, with an invisible magical aura flowing along the blade. Residual magic from the embedded crystals allowed this Holy Sword to possess power the moment it was forged. Even in the dim workshop light, it gleamed with inner radiance.

He solemnly handed the sword to Kurtz. "In my hundred years of forging, this Holy Sword is my finest work!"

The eternal ore and high-purity magic crystals alone were immeasurable in value. Duller suspected that even the Dwarf Kingdom's treasury held few weapons that could compare. His weathered hands trembled slightly as he released his grip on the masterpiece.

Mainly because there aren't many forging masters like him left!

Kurtz took the Holy Sword, unaware of Duller's self-praise. "Does it have a name?"

"Not yet. How about Mr. Kurtz gives it one!"

Kurtz glanced at Serie, about to speak, but considering her terrible naming ability, he immediately closed his mouth. The memory of her previous suggestions still made him wince.

Serie didn't care much and said directly, "Just call it the Eternal Holy Sword! After all, it's based on eternal ore."

"Didn't you say there's no such thing as eternity in the world?" Kurtz teased.

Serie turned her head away. "You must have remembered it wrong." The tips of her ears turned slightly pink.

Ignoring the elf's embarrassment, Kurtz gently stroked the sword's body, feeling the magic flow within it. "Let's call it the Human Rights Sword, Elsword!"

This was the result of all his companions' joint efforts. The weight of their shared experiences seemed to settle into the blade itself.

Everyone contributed to killing that giant dragon. Somo discovered the crucial eternal ore and magic crystals. If it weren't for his preferring an axe, Kurtz might have given this Holy Sword to him instead.

"The Human Rights Sword, Elsword?" Norn murmured softly.

Anyone could see that Kurtz was naming this Holy Sword after his talk of establishing a human kingdom. The symbolism wasn't lost on any of them.

Did he want this Holy Sword passed down forever? No wonder it was based on eternal ore.

"Not a very good name." Serie was still being stubborn. She felt that Kurtz's naming skill was just as bad as her own, though she'd never admit the comparison.

"Oh, right, Mr. Duller, did you add the materials I asked you to find earlier?" Kurtz suddenly turned around.

"Of course! Although I don't know your intention, I happened to have similar ores here and added them as well."

"What did you add?" Serie asked curiously, her earlier pout forgotten.

"A special ore. Similar to how only those who are acknowledged can lift this Holy Sword?"

"Really?" Serie was surprised. "I've never heard of such an ore." For someone who had lived as long as she had, encountering unknown magical materials was genuinely intriguing.

"Of course not! Because I was making it up!" Kurtz burst into laughter. "Actually, I just added ore that increases its weight. Only by pouring magic into it will the weight decrease."

Discovering Kurtz was teasing her, Serie's face turned red with anger. Her hands clenched into tiny fists.

If there weren't so many people around, she would definitely give this ungrateful human a few Light Arrows. No, not Light Arrows, Light Spears! Only then could she vent her anger!

Eric leaned over eagerly, eyeing the Holy Sword. "Can I touch it?"

"Here." Kurtz generously handed it over.

Eric almost dropped it immediately. Just as Kurtz said, this Holy Sword was astonishingly heavy. His arms strained under the unexpected weight, muscles already aching.

"You need to infuse magic to reduce its weight," Kurtz reminded him kindly.

Eric quickly followed suit. He felt the magic in his body rapidly decreasing as the Holy Sword's weight lessened correspondingly. The drain was alarming, like water rushing through a broken dam.

"Forget it, I'll give it back!"

Eric realised that in just moments, a tenth of his magic was gone. Sweat beaded on his forehead from the combination of physical strain and magical depletion.

This thing absorbed magic too quickly. He seriously suspected Kurtz didn't intend to use this Holy Sword for combat at all.

But Eric didn't know that Kurtz had a backup plan, a way for Dwarf Somo to lift this sword as well easily.

"Let me see."

Serie took the Holy Sword from Kurtz's hand. Her petite body holding this two-handed longsword looked strange, like a child playing with an adult's weapon.

"Be careful!"

Before Kurtz's words finished, Serie had already steadied it, and the Holy Sword suddenly burst into dazzling blue light in her hand. The radiance was so intense that everyone had to shield their eyes.

In terms of magic reserves, the current Serie was equivalent to 2.5 Kurtz, and also comparable to 10 Erics.

She wasn't at all worried about the Holy Sword's magic-devouring effect.

"Not bad! How about we test its power?"

Serie returned the Holy Sword to Kurtz, who nodded slightly. The anticipation in the air was palpable.

Outside Dwarf Town, Kurtz had wanted to find a random place to test the sword's power, but Duller insisted the Holy Sword's power was terrifying and had to be tested somewhere uninhabited.

His expression had grown unusually serious when discussing the weapon's potential.

So the group travelled farther from town.

Kurtz raised the Holy Sword high, its tip pointing at the distant ground. As magic was infused, the light on the sword's body grew brighter and brighter, finally becoming as brilliant as moonlight. The air itself seemed to hum with contained energy.

"Infuse magic and then release it? But it seems mixed with traces of magic..." Serie muttered, staring at Kurtz's every move.

Her analytical mind was already dissecting the magical principles at work.

Everyone was confused about why Kurtz would do this, but Serie saw a hint of his intention. Kurtz wanted to use this Holy Sword to project magic in a torrent. It was a good idea.

"Slash!"

With the charge complete, brilliant blue sword light split the earth. Everything on the ground turned to dust the moment it contacted the sword light. The very air seemed to tear along the blade's path.

A chasm cut into the ground, whose end could not be seen. A rough estimate showed it exceeded a hundred meters!

The light and dust receded. The scene fell silent. Even the ever-present sound of wind through the canyon stopped, as if nature itself was holding its breath.

Eric's eyes trembled. "This power is too terrifying!"

Serie nodded in satisfaction. "Not bad."

Then she pointed to a small mountain on the other side. "Try to see if you can split that mountain!"

Kurtz gave a wry smile. "I don't have that much magic now."

The massive energy expenditure had left him feeling drained, like a bucket with a hole in the bottom.

The dazzling light gradually dimmed, but the sword's body still glowed faintly.

Duller excitedly stroked his beard. "It's perfect! Only I can create such a perfect Holy Sword! Can any other Dwarves do it? HA-HA-HA-HA" His pride was infectious, even making the usually stoic Somo crack a smile.

"Pfft!"

Hearing such a familiar statement, Kurtz subconsciously laughed, but fortunately, Duller was still immersed in his masterpiece and didn't notice.

"But your idea is interesting. Is it newly researched magic?" Serie came to Kurtz's side. Her earlier irritation had been replaced by genuine professional interest.

"It's not really magic, just re-releasing the magic stored inside."

"What's the storage limit?"

"A lot!"

Kurtz didn't explicitly state the limit, but since he said so, Serie had a bold idea. Her eyes gleamed with the dangerous curiosity that usually preceded her more ambitious magical experiments.

She looked at Kurtz, and he happened to be looking at her too.

As their gazes met, they immediately understood each other's thoughts. The unspoken connection they had built during their travels conveyed a lot.

A knowing smile, unique to the two of them, bloomed at this moment.
