Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Weird Storm

Legends have it that every destiny begins with a fated tragedy. Sounds true, isn't it? Have you heard one the begins with a trick? Look at this one right here....

A family of three was on a ship,in the middle of the ocean returning from a vacation in New Zealand. They were heading home in San Diego,USA, on a sleek white mini cruise ship known as Flora-T61.

A tall dark brown man dressed in a black suit descended the stairs from the ship's bridge. He was a well known entrepreneur in all over United States,Mr Harrison.

He stood in front of a woman in her mid-forties—Sara—holding a sixteen-year-old boy, Mike, and smiled.

"Everything alright, Harry?" Sara asked calmly.

" Yeah. We'll be home soon." He answered pocketing his hands.

"But can't this ship move a bit faster?" Mike asked impatiently. "I have a bad feeling about this voyage."

" Fear not, son. You will be fine." Mr Harrison answered ruffling Mike's hair.

Suddenly, thunder clapped so loudly and rolled across the sky. Lightning flashed forth from the now darkened sky that sent chills down their spines.

"Oh no! A turbulent storm is approaching," Sara said with a hint of fear in her voice.

"Get down to the cabin. I need to instruct the crew about something." Mr. Harrison said heading back to the bridge.

Sara nodded and proceeded to a door leading to the cabin below the deck. But her son didn't move a muscle. He stood on the deck staring at the ferocious waves racing towards their ship.

A weird feeling that gave him goosebumps coursed through his veins. Strange? No. It was familiar. It occurred to him severally whenever he had an intense stare of the ocean.

He felt as if the ocean was calling him. Something...Something unnatural was pulling him to the water. He took a few steps to the edge of the deck and felt the railings with his hands.

' This feeling. I can't shake my mind out of it. So strong to resist. I should be down in the cabin with mum. What am I even doing here?'

Just then, thunder rumbled once again and lightning flashed.

Mike caught the sight of an enormous wave rising. It reached an approximate height of ten metres and took the shape of a bloodthirsty cobra ready to attack.

Mike stared at it mouth agape not knowing what to do. Little did he know that the strange wave was actually impairing his thoughts. He found himself raising his right leg over the railings ready to jump into the water.

" What's happening to me?" He voiced out lifting his left leg over the railings.

" Hey son. What do you think you are doing?" Mr Harrison shouted from a distance rushing to him. Mike came to his senses and withdrew back to the safe side of the deck.

" Have you lost mind son?"

" I don't know what's happening to me?" Mike replied shocked by his own previous actions.

The cabin door opened and Sara came out. She caught sight of the giant waves and panic sliced through her body and soul.

" Harry," she called out as her vision blurred.

" Saraaa," Mr Harrison called rushing to hold her before her body slumped onto the deck.

Mike took a few steps back towards the fore arch of the ship. The gigantic cobra-like waves swooped and hit that part of the ship sending Mike off the ship into the ocean,as the couple rolled into the underground cabin.

Flora-T61 was tossed up in the sky and came down half sinking. She was now drenched. Really wet, both in out.

Mr Harrison came out of the cabin and found water on the deck was a knee deep. Mike was nowhere to be seen. The crew was confused and in disarray.

" Sir,we have lossed all the engines. I'm afraid we can't make it to San Diego Port like this." Said the Captain.

"Activate the distresss signal then grab a lifeboat and save yourselves." Mr Harrison said looking at the raging waves.

" What about you Sir?"

" I need to save my son first."

Mike's body submerged into the waves and started sinking. He remembered he had some skills in swimming. He pushed himself up several times before coming to the surface.

Their Flora-T61 was nowhere to be seen. He wondered what could have happened to his parents and the crew.It then dawned to him he was now alone in the ocean.

The strange feeling renewed itself and he felt weak. Before his vision blurred,he caught a glimpse of a girl swimming towards him. She had a something bluish in her place of legs. Something similar to a fish tail. But he couldn't make out further details.

'Save me.'

Darkness crept in.
