Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Academy and Anbu

Hiruzen Sarutobi received the information from his ANBU operatives quickly: the culprit was indeed a young Uchiha, and Fugaku was personally bringing her in. The heavy door to the Hokage's office opened, and Fugaku entered, leading the small girl.

Fugaku immediately launched into a strained explanation, detailing the issue from the clan's perspective and urging the girl to apologize.

Uchiha Yoruichi bowed slightly, her apology clipped and emotionless. "I apologize for the damage to the Lord Second's monument, Hokage-sama."

Hiruzen's eyes, though kind, held a deep, assessing sharpness. He began his usual lecture, a gentle sermon on the Will of Fire—the philosophy of love and protection that bound Konoha.

This guy, Yoruichi thought, suppressing a sigh. If I hadn't known better, I might have actually believed his sincerity. She knew the history, the prejudice, and the subtle control he and the Elders exerted. The Will of Fire was a beautiful idea, but in practice, it often felt like a chain meant to bind her clan.

"Your actions are destructive, Yoruichi," Hiruzen concluded, his tone shifting from philosophical to practical. "Your punishment will be to personally oversee the repair and cleaning of the monument."

Fugaku, relieved that the punishment was not more severe, thanked the Hokage, and together, he and Yoruichi departed. As they walked away, Yoruichi knew her prank had successfully attracted attention—not that she particularly cared.

Meanwhile, back in the office, Hiruzen called the ANBU operative stationed nearby. "I want you to spy on Uchiha Yoruichi," he ordered, his voice low and firm. "Gather every detail about her behavior and abilities." The ANBU vanished.

Deep within the dark, subterranean chambers of the Root headquarters, Danzo Shimura received a similar report. The rogue Uzumaki family was safely settled in Kumo, and now a problematic Uchiha child was stirring trouble at home.

"Raven," Danzo commanded to a shadowy figure kneeling before him, "keep a close eye on the Uchiha kid. Gather every ounce of detail you can. Make absolutely sure the ANBU doesn't notice you."

As the Root agent, code-named Raven, dissolved into the darkness, Danzo muttered to himself, "Hiruzen, you've become far too soft." The escalation of monitoring was a grim sign of the escalating mistrust in Konoha.

Back in Kumogakure, a year had passed, carrying the tensions and rumors away on the wind. Ichigo's life had settled into a steady routine: the relentless physical training, the work at the Weapon Manufacturing plant, and the hours spent honing his Kenjutsu basics with Arata.

He, Yasu, Akira, and Saori were inseparable, often hanging out at the Uzumaki compound. Uzumaki Megumi was incredibly kind, treating Ichigo and Yasu as if they were her own, ensuring they were always well-fed and looked after. This small, makeshift family unit provided the stability Ichigo needed.

Despite the relative peace, Ichigo knew it was a deceptive calm. The shadow of the Third Great Ninja War loomed large on the horizon. He needed to be ready.

Today marked a significant milestone. Ichigo readied himself, dressed in a simple, dark training outfit with white braces that gave him a sharp, focused appearance. He looked at his reflection, a confident glint in his eyes, and walked to Amanai's room.

He knocked gently. "Come in," Amanai's familiar voice called.

Ichigo entered to find her seated at her desk, reviewing papers. She smiled warmly. "Ichigo. A year has passed, and today you join the Academy. From now on, you'll be allocated your own small space, but remember this," she added, her eyes serious, "if you ever feel lonely, you are always welcome here."

Ichigo smiled, the sincerity in her voice touching his heart. He thanked her and headed out, a renewed sense of purpose driving him toward the Academy.

Ichigo stopped in front of the Kumogakure Academy. It was a towering, imposing structure with multiple floors, the entrance currently swarming with excited children and their parents. He scanned the crowd, looking for familiar faces.

Suddenly, he heard a shout. "Seriously, you should have waited for us at the orphanage!"

Ichigo turned to see the group that had waited for him: Yasu, Akira, Saori, and Uzumaki Megumi. They waited for me, he thought, a warmth spreading through his chest.

"Thanks," he replied, giving them a genuine nod.

The four children—Ichigo, Yasu, Akira, and Saori—made their way through the bustling entrance and into the building. Megumi watched them go, her face serene now that her children were entering a safe environment. "Rise and shine, kids," she whispered to herself.

Inside the crowded classroom, Ichigo and Akira took the last bench, settling in just as the bell rang. Yasu and Saori took a bench in the middle, still close enough to feel like a group. As Ichigo looked around, scanning his classmates, his eyes locked onto two figures entering the room.

He immediately recognized them: a boy with a bored, weary expression and dark skin, and a blonde girl with a serious demeanor.

They were Darui and Samui, key figures from the future of Kumogakure. They took the last bench, right adjacent to Ichigo's. The timeline was closing in, and Ichigo was now right in the middle of it.

Ichigo looked at them and was about to spoke,Suddenly a Instructor barged in and thus class started.
