Chapter 2 - The Beginning(Two)

[Narrator]:"Guys, we're back. When we left off, our characters were heading to the top floor. They are currently in the elevator. Any moment now, they will be there—oh, the elevator doors are opening."

"Wow it's a big room. You're really trying commander, how'd you do it?" Raymond said as he looked at the white room in awe of it's size.

"Sorry, how'd I do what?"Layla asked wondering what Raymond meant.

"You know, going and coming down every day from the top floor to ground. I was getting bored by the time we got to the fifth floor."

[Narrator]: "Well it's simple mister she is Best girl."

Layla raised her eyebrows in realization of what he was talking about and smiled before answering. "If it's about that, i also had issues at first but you will get used to it eventually."

"Alright let's get started." Johnathan said to them

Three out of them sat except Johnathan, he was the one who was gonna explain things to Raymond.

Johnathan picked up a tablet from the table."Welcome once again, Raymond. Ultra City, as you may know, usually has a low crime rate. But recently, there's been a surge of robberies—and the bigger concern is the sudden rise of superhumans.

"The Rise of superhumans?!" Raymond exclaimed. "There haven't been reports that superhumans have been rampaging the city."

"Yeah, there haven't, bu—" Timothy and Johnathan said at the same time.

"You want to speak." Johnathan signalled to Timothy to talk.

Seated on his chair, arms crossed Timothy spoke. "I was also surprised when I got the info about them, I started patrols just to keep the few that won't cause too many problems in check."

Raymond nodded in affirmation. "So we just have to go catch and lock up the ones who wanna make chaos."

Timothy replied. "Not just that, when I said few superhumans. I have only encountered just three."

"What!. Raymond exclaimed, just three. He turned to Layla who then silently answered with a nod.

"There's more. The reason we don't know who or where the superhumans are is because people now have a way to hide their powers from the Association's eyes," Timothy said to Raymond.

He went further, saying, "We all know people awaken their abilities in different ways. Some awaken through an adrenaline rush, some through emotional struggle, and some are curbed and refined through training. But now, in this age and era, people are smarter. So we were sent the percentage of people with powers."

Timothy pointed to Johnathan, who tapped his tablet, and a holographic image appeared showing a pie chart.

Johnathan continued the explanation. "As you can see on the chart..." He moved closer to the image and zoomed it in for the eyes to see clearly.

"The percentage of superhumans, as shown here, is three percent. So the percentage is our major concern, what we have planned is, when we get them we make them comply to the Hero Association rules which is you either sign up to be under surveillance for the rest of your life or you join the Hero association and be anything they offer you. The job of you two is to stop and capture the rebellious ones and I'm pretty sure there will be more rebels than compliance."

Raymond smirked, saying, "Your explanation feels like I'm receiving lectures from Hero Academy again."

"It must feel boring, right? Even I hate talking this much, but who else is gonna do it if not me?" Johnathan replied as he turned off the image that was displaying.

Raymond got up from his seat and walked towards the glassy windows, looking through them and having a clear view of the city.

"A city of thirty-one million people. From what I was shown, it means that at least nine hundred thousand people are gifted. That's quite the number, but I can take it. With Timothy also here, who knows the ins and outs of the city, it will be rough, but I will get stronger. Who knows, something big might happen." After speaking to himself, Raymond turned back and exhaled before speaking.

"Can't wait for the first mission. It will be nice to work with everyone."

"Wish to see the best of you, Raymond," Layla said.

"Okay, if that's all, Raymond, you should head to the sixtieth floor and drop your belongings," Johnathan told him.

Timothy got up from his seat and said to Raymond, "Hey, since you don't have anything to do, why don't you and I have a one v one?"

"Okay, I will get ready then," Raymond replied.

Timothy walked to the elevator, saying, "I will be at the training hall on the twenty-fifth floor."

The doors of the elevator opened, and he went down.

Layla chuckled. "He wants to see what the Hero Academy graduate has to offer. He's a nice guy; you will get along pretty well."

Raymond responded, "I'm not bothered. Even I wanted to call for a brawl."

[Narrator]: "They 'bout to throw hands. Wish we could see it, but most of it's gonna be off-screen. Don't worry, folks—we'll come back for a bit of it. For now, let's move to our next location."

6:12 p.m., Moztech Company

[Narrator]: "Guys, this is Moztech—a company prosperous with great minds. It's one of the world's top scientific institutions, if not the top. Its biggest products are in nanotechnology, and the mind behind it all is Mr. Steven Stones, the father of one of our MCs. So, guys, enjoy the rest."

Outside the facility was a parked Roy Reiss. Standing a few meters away from it was Larry Stones.

"Hello, Dad," Larry spoke into the phone. "Just got here not long ago, and I was told you aren't in the city."

A relaxed voice answered. "Yes, son. I left a couple of hours ago—currently on the plane. Did you get what I told them to give you?"

"Yes… but why are you giving it to me, Dad?" Larry asked, his face pale.

"You helped build the suit. No one knows it better," his father replied.

"But we had an agreement about today," Larry said.

"I know," his father responded. "You, of all people, know I'm busy."

The call ended. Larry slipped his phone away and walked back to the car.

Inside, Ivy Madsen, Larry's PA, waited. Her braided black-and-silver hair glinted under the city lights.

"You don't look excited."

"It's complicated, Ivy. Let's just go," Larry muttered.

"Where to now?" she asked.

"I don't know… just away from here."

Ivy signaled to the driver, and the vehicle pulled away.
