Chapter 46 - Chapter 42 : Sons of Uchiha

(Short Extra Chapter)

Year 29

The Uchiha compound was quiet that evening, cloaked in the soft hum of cicadas and the distant rustle of wind through pine. Lanterns flickered along the stone paths, casting warm light against the lacquered walls of ancestral homes. It was a night of anticipation. As if planned by fate, both Asami, Eisuke's wife, and Komei, Kagami's wife entered labor on same day and time.

The air was thick with summer heat, but the wind carried a strange coolness, as if the world itself were holding its breath. In the distance, thunder murmured low across the hills. The elders sat in their homes, sipping tea, speaking little. The younger shinobi trained in silence, sensing something sacred in the air. Even the children, usually loud and restless, played quietly under the watchful eyes of their mothers.

Uchiha Kagami's Residence.

Inside a modest but well-kept house near the eastern edge of the compound, Uchiha Kagami sat beside his wife, Komei, her hand clenched tightly around his.

She was in labor.

The midwife moved with practiced calm, checking her pulse, adjusting the damp cloth on her forehead. Kagami's expression was unreadable – his eyes were sharp, posture rigid, but his hand never left hers.

Outside, the wind shifted.

Kagami glanced toward the window.

"A storm is coming," he murmured.

Komei smiled weakly.

"Then let him be born with thunder."

---

The hours passed slowly. Komei's breathing grew heavier, her body trembling with effort. Kagami remained silent, his mind drifting between memories of battle and dreams of peace. He had seen much of bloodshed. Many brothers and friends lost. And now, he would become a father.

He thought of his own father, Uchiha Sosuke, the clan head. Of the weight of the name Kagami – mirror. A reflection of the clan's ideals, but also its burdens. He had always been the quiet one, the observer, the tactician. Now, he would be the guide.

Finally, a cry pierced the silence.

The midwife lifted the newborn, wrapped in a soft cloth, his skin flushed and his eyes tightly shut.

"A boy," she said. "Healthy and strong."

Kagami stood, his hand trembling slightly as he reached for the child.

He looked down at his son.

"Akira 明 (light)," he said softly. "You will carry the light of our name."

Komei smiled, exhausted but radiant.

Kagami sat beside her, cradling Akira in his arms. The child stirred, his tiny fingers curling around Kagami's thumb.

Outside, thunder rolled across the sky

Uchiha Eisuke's Residence

One the western side of the compound, in a larger home surrounded by plum trees, Uchiha Eisuke paced the hallway. His usual calm and stoic demeanor was nowhere to be seen.

His wife, Asami, was in labor with twins.

Two cries had already echoed through the house.

The midwives moved quickly, wrapping the newborns in soft blankets, checking their vitals, whispering to each other with quiet awe.

Eisuke entered the room, his face pale but composed.

Asami lay back, her hair damp with sweat, her eyes half-closed.

"They're here," she whispered.

Eisuke approached the cribs.

Two boys.

One with a tuft of dark hair and quiet gaze.

The other already squirming, fists clenched, mouth open in protest.

"They're opposites," Esiuke said softly.

The elder midwife chuckled.

"Balance. That's how twins often come."

Eisuke knelt beside Asami.

We'll name them Tategaku and Hakugaku."

Asami nodded.

"Tategaku… for strength. Hakugaku.. for clarity."

Eisuke looked at his sons.

'You will walk different paths. But you will walk together.'

Outside, the plum blossoms stirred in the wind

*(Three holy mountains of Japan are Mount Fuji (富士山 : Rich Status mountain), Mount Haku (白山: white mountain), and Mount Tate (立山 : standing mountain). Since Fugaku's name originates from Mount Fuji, I named their twin brothers with other two mountains.)

By morning, word had spread.

Three sons born to sons of Uchiha Sosuke, the clan head.

The elders gathered in the central hall of Uchiha Gourmet, seated in silence as the names were spoken aloud. The hall was filled with scent of incense and the quiet clatter of tea cups.

"Uchiha Akira," said the scribe. "Son of Kagami and Komei."

"Uchiha Tategaku and Uchiha Hakugaku," he continued. "Twin sons of Eisuke and Asami."

Uchiha Sosuke nodded solemnly, satisfaction etched into his weathered face.

"These children will inherit our legacy. May they grow with wisdom, strength, and loyalty."

Eisuke stood, carrying both sons, one in each arm.

Kagami followed, holding Akira in his arms.

The elders bowed.

The fire crackled as the celebration gave way to a banquet. Dishes were served with grilled river fish, lotus root, sweet rice cakes. The clan's finest sake was poured, and laughter echoes through the hall.

Outside, the lanterns swayed gently in the wind.

Inside, the clan rejoiced.

And the future of the Uchiha shifted, quietly, beneath the stars.
