Chapter 451 - Playing With Daemon

"Woo... Woo... Woo..."

A sharp alarm sounded, reaching the ears of Shun and Ada.

The lights along both sides of the passage flashed red wildly, following the rhythm of the alarm.

Ada's fingers, wrapped around Shun's arm, suddenly tightened. The sweet smile on her face instantly froze, as if doused by ice water. Her pupils contracted slightly, a trace of panic flashing quickly in her eyes, and her throat unconsciously bobbed.

The first thought in her heart: It's Daemon!

Throughout the entire base, only her younger brother, who was single-mindedly devoted to protecting her, would dare to impulsively break into the base and defy Shun's orders.

Almost simultaneously with her stopping, Shun also slowly halted. The lazy and composed aura around him hadn't diminished in the slightest. His brow merely furrowed imperceptibly before smoothing out again.

Ada turned around, looking up at Shun, who was a head taller than her. Her eyes, originally filled with admiration and dependence, were now filled with intense pleading and anxiety.

She carefully released his arm, her long eyelashes trembling slightly.

She took a deep breath, as if gathering all her courage and said, "Shun-sama ... I-I'm sorry. It must be my brother Daemon. He... he must have been worried about me to impulsively break into the base like this. Please don't be angry with him. I promise I will talk to him properly later and make him apologize to you."

As she spoke, she secretly raised her eyelids and quickly glanced at Shun's expression.

Seeing his calm face, devoid of any anger, her hanging heart slightly eased, but the anxiety within her still surged like a tide.

Shun lowered his gaze, his eyes resting on her anxious appearance, actively pleading for her brother.

He slowly raised his hand and gently placed it on Ada's head, his tone flat. "It's fine. Since you pleaded for him, I won't be angry with him."

His hands tucked into the pockets of his trench coat and he looked indifferently toward the entrance of the passage, his gaze penetrating layers of obstruction to see the figure rushing toward them.

"Since he wants to find you so badly, we will wait for him here and grant his wish."

Ada froze in place.

A few seconds later, the anxiety in her eyes was replaced by profound gratitude.

A brilliant smile bloomed on her face, and she nodded vigorously. "Thank you, Shun-sama. You are truly wonderful."

In her view, this was entirely because Shun cared about her, which was why he was so lenient in forgiving Daemon. Her admiration for Shun deepened further. She stood obediently beside him, also looking toward the passage entrance, though her eyes held a hint of worry for her brother.

'Brother, please don't act impulsively again.'

Silence returned to the passage, with only the distant alarm faintly echoing, like a death knell.

This silence did not last long, as a series of hurried and heavy footsteps approached from afar.

Tap... Tap...

Soon, the figure of a young boy appeared at the passage entrance.

"Sister!"

Daemon spotted Ada standing next to Shun immediately, his voice filled with urgency and worry.

Ignoring the need to catch his breath, he started running toward the two of them.

Seeing Daemon's appearance, Ada's heart felt tightly gripped by an invisible hand. She quickly stepped forward, stretching out her hands to stop him, and shouted anxiously, "Daemon! Go back! This really has nothing to do with you! Shun-sama and I are just... just going to handle a small matter!"

She choked halfway through her sentence. She had no idea where Shun was taking her, so she could only vaguely cover up, her tone filled with panic.

"Go back?"

Daemon abruptly stopped, his chest heaving violently, his heavy gasps distinctly audible in the passage.

He looked as if he had heard a ridiculous joke. His anger intensified, accompanied by a deep sense of disappointment.

"Sister, you're still defending him? Haven't you seen his true colors yet? He's not a good person at all, he wants to seize your Shinjutsu. I won't stand by and watch you fall into his trap. I must save you."

After speaking, he gave Ada no chance to argue. He stomped his feet hard against the ground, and with a "dong," the metal floor seemed to tremble. The Chakra around him instantly exploded, forming a faint current of air that blew the stray hairs on his forehead back.

Immediately afterward, his figure shot toward Shun like a powerful arrow, carrying a fierce gust of wind.

He knew clearly that his strength was far inferior to Shun's, but for his sister, he had to give everything, even if it meant fighting a losing battle.

"No!"

Seeing this, Ada's lips lost their color, and she instinctively wanted to rush forward to stop him. But before she could take a step, Shun gently raised his hand and blocked her behind him.

His palm rested lightly on her shoulder, yet it held an irresistible force, pinning her firmly in place, preventing her from moving forward.

Ada's eyes turned red with anxiety, and she could only watch helplessly as her brother launched his attack against Shun.

"It's fine. He is still young, so a little impulsiveness is normal."

Facing Daemon's all-out attack, Shun remained expressionless, his gaze as indifferent as if watching a moth flying toward a flame.

He didn't even intend to dodge, merely raising his right hand slowly, carrying a mysterious and powerful aura.

Just as Daemon's fist was less than half a foot from his chest, and the strong wind was already fluttering his coat, a distorted Space-Time Gate opened before him.

A powerful suction force suddenly erupted from the Space-Time Gate.

The expression on Daemon's face suddenly froze. Before he could react, his charging body was firmly locked by this suction force, and he flew uncontrollably toward the Space-Time Gate.

"No!"

He roared, trying to mobilize his Chakra to resist, but found the suction force was unimaginably strong and utterly useless to fight.

Ada was also caught by this sudden suction force, and her body staggered forward uncontrollably a few steps.

She cried out, reaching out and grabbing Shun's hand, and was ultimately sucked into that darkness.

The Space-Time Gate immediately closed with a "buzz," and dead silence returned to the passage.

The next second, the three appeared on a desolate battlefield.

The ground beneath their feet was cracked earth, covered in craters of varying depths.

Looking at the situation before her, Ada's body couldn't help but tremble slightly.

Shun felt her trembling and gently patted the back of her hand, as if to dispel the fear in her heart.

He spoke as if discussing a trivial matter, his voice showing no emotion, "Ada, don't panic. Since Daemon wants to fight so much, I'll play with him for a bit, just to pass the time."

Daemon staggered and regained his footing. The fierce wind lifted the edges of his coat and messed up his hair.

Shun's indifferent attitude seemed to mock his efforts, fueling the anger in his heart. He took a deep breath and charged toward Shun again. This time, his speed was faster than before, leaving blurred afterimages in the swirling dust.

Since childhood, he had diligently trained Taijutsu. His speed and strength were considered top-tier among his peers. Now, unleashing his full power, he attacked with alternating fists, knees, and elbows. His moves were fierce and ruthless, each one aimed at Shun's vital points, showing no mercy.

Bang... Bang... Bang...

A series of muffled collision sounds echoed on the battlefield, like the beating of drums.

Shun remained standing in place, neither dodging nor avoiding, merely relying on his extreme reaction speed to effortlessly block every one of Daemon's attacks. His movements seemed slow, yet he always managed to precisely intercept the trajectory of Daemon's attacks, effortlessly neutralizing Daemon's force with a slight turn of his wrist.

Daemon's fist landing on his arm felt like hitting hard steel.

Bang!

The impact caused intense pain in his fist, making his finger bones feel like they might split, yet Shun didn't budge or even frown.

The anxiety in Daemon's heart grew wildly. He clearly felt the gap in their strength, which was like an insurmountable chasm.

His attacks, in Shun's view, were laughably insignificant, like a mere tickle.

If this continued, forget about saving his sister, he wouldn't even be able to harm a single one of Shun's fingers.

In his desperation, Daemon mobilized the Shinjutsu within him: Reflection.

This was his greatest trump card, and an extremely special Shinjutsu.

Any enemy harboring murderous intent toward him would have that intent converted into a tangible attack, which would be completely reflected back onto the enemy themselves. The stronger the murderous intent, the greater the power of the Reflection.

Daemon's eyes narrowed, and his attack rhythm suddenly sped up, fists raining down upon Shun. He refused to believe that Shun harbored no murderous intent toward him.

However, to his shock, Shun remained expressionless, his aura incredibly calm, completely unaffected by Reflection.

"How is that possible?"

A deep chill rose in Daemon's heart. He had never encountered anyone immune to his Reflection.

What was going on? Did Shun not harbor even a trace of murderous intent toward him? Or was his Shinjutsu simply ineffective against Shun?

Shun seemed to notice his trick, and a smile formed on his lips. "Why would an adult take a child seriously? Your Shinjutsu is interesting, but unfortunately, it's useless against me."

He saw through the essence of Daemon's Shinjutsu. While seemingly strange, it had no effect on him.

Regarding Daemon, he only intended to toy with him, harboring no murderous intent whatsoever.

With that, he finally stopped passively blocking, exerting force with his right hand and grabbing Daemon's wrist the moment his fist swung forward again.

A massive force suddenly came from his wrist and Daemon felt as if his wrist had been clamped tightly by an iron vise.
