Chapter 3 - Job briefing

"The Pandavar clan? Let see... If my memories served correctly, they're a minor legacy clan that served under the great clan of Song."

June then went silent for a few moments as he stared down at the table in front of him. He was trying to remember any other information he had on the Pandavar clan. Due to them being a relatively smaller legacy clan, there isn't much information known about them. Eventually June raised his head up and replied to the contractor in a calm and collected tone:

"Those guys... also gotten into some shady business recently."

Those words left the older man quite surprised, as his eyes widen upon hearing June reply. The contractor then smiled and reached out under the table to open a drawer, in his hand was a document that June haven't seen before, which was surprising as June considered himself to be an informed individual.

"It seemed that you are more informed than I thought, Corsair. But yes, their recent 'endeavours' is quite horrendous. Here's a detailed document on what they did, well at least that's what our informant has gotten so far."

Corsair shifted his body and leaned forward out of curiosity.

"They've done something so vile that it gotten the attention of the entire Black-market? Let me see..."

June reached over the table to grab the document from the contractor hands and began to skim through the pages. The content that was listed on that document was worse than what June had initially thought. He knows that they have gotten into some shady business recently, thanks to a few external sources, but this was just something else entirely.

Human trafficking. Child trafficking. Animal abuse and even, live human experiments.

Those were just a few things the Pandavar clan did upon dozens of other crimes they've committed. Just by reading a few pages of the document caused June stomach to twist.

'That explained why the promised credit rewarded for completing this assignment is so high.'

Eventually, after reading through the entire document, June placed down the paper that the contractor had given him.

"Holy spell, it's worse than I thought."

The Contractor then raises his hand to his mouth and coughed.

"Indeed. What is detailed within those pages, are not for the faint of heart, Corsair."

The man then picked up his flask yet again to take a sip, as June watched him in silent.

"The Pandavar clan... had crossed the line with one of the more, 'important' people of the Black market. Which is why we've decided to send out private invitation to our elite operatives, such as you, today."

That explained a lot of the lingering questions that June still had left about the assignment. Firstly, when he first received the invitation for this assignment, there was little to no information on what the job would be about, just the name of the location and how much credit was offered. That was probably done on purpose, as if they sent out the contract offers the normal way, it would have been caught on immediately by the Pandavar clan. A lesser clan or not, a legacy clan is a legacy clan.

Secondly, was how there isn't any other operatives around when June entered the diner. Initially he had thought the reason why there isn't any operatives around is due to the risk of another fight happening. But now, after learning more about the context of the assignment from the older gentleman, it was clear that there was another reason as well. Because if several elite operatives show up to one location, then it would surely get the attention of the Pandavar clan who was already involved with the Black-market to begin with.

So, by giving each operatives their own individual invitations with a specific time designated for each executive; greatly reduced the risk of information getting leaked to the Pandavar clan.

The old man then gave out a friendly smile yet again as he walked over to the kitchen and return with a glass of water in hand.

"Take your time Corsair, the content are shocking even for me. And I have been involved with the Black market for longer than you've been alive. Here, take a drink if you need to."

June quickly responded to the contractor in a calm manner.

"So basically, you need people to get rid of this clan, correct?"

The old man continued to smile as he leaned back on his chair.

"Yes, that's the gist of it."

The old man proceeded to grab another piece of paper from the drawer yet again.

"If you're willing to take up this assassinations job, then please sign this contract."

June then went silent for a few moments while contemplating on this new contract that had been presented in front of him. Eventually he sighed and take a sip of water from the glass that the contractor just had given him, a few moments ago.

"Can you give me a few more piece of information?"

The old man subsequently leaned back again, while staring at the ceiling as he pondered over June request. After a while, the old contractor opened his mouth again, still keeping that signature friendly smile of his.

"Last time we've spotted them out in the woods, was near the storm sea. I would recommend you start from there."

The contractor stopped for a few moments and then continued as he lends over to June two pictures.

"These are the two masters of Pandavar that you should be on the lookout for specifically. Master Tulga and Master Forger."

The old man then grabbed 2 more document from the table and passed it over to June.

"Here's their individual document. It isn't that detailed due to how these two operates but it should help."

"I see, thanks for information, Smiley."

June placed his glass of water down and proceeded to sign the contract. While signing the paper, he pondered on what the old man just said. It had been a few years since he had step foot into the storm sea after all— so he wasn't really familiar with that region of the dream realm compared to Bastion or Ravenheart.

However, his train of thought was interrupted by old man Smiley sudden comment.

"You better hurry up Corsair. You should know that, at this moment, the other operatives that we had invited are already on the move."

June raised an eyebrow as he placed down his pen after signing the contract.

"Mind if you tell me who they are?"

Smiley then take a few more sip of whiskey from his metal flask.

"Well, some of them were briefed on the job by other contractors in NQSC. However, the last guy that I've met here was, The Hangman."
