Chapter 4 - Halloween Chapter (Optional Canon).

Just to be clear, this chapter was made DURING the month of October, skip it if you will since the holydays chapters are for gags and entretainment rather than actual storytelling.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(6 months later. October 30. 7:00 AM)

Kaizo was in the forest but it wasn't for his usual training program, he was simply sewing himself a new costume for Halloween. One of the greatest joys of children around the world is to extort the grownups around them in order to get delicious free candy.

His costume? Well, Kaizo decided to play to the niche traditions and is wearing a vampire costume. Where did he get the money from? He sold some wild plants, meat that he hunted and "borrowed" some more from the shitty kid's houses.

As he was about to finish the last details to his costume, Robin walked towards him.

"Ah? Robin! Are you excited for Halloween? 'Cause I sure as heck am!" Kaizo.

Robin tilted her head before asking.

"What's Halloween?" Robin.

Kaizo froze for a moment before getting up and standing in front of Robin.

"Robin, Halloween is one of the best festivities in the whole world! It happens in October 31st and it consists on children and adults dressed in different costumes and go from house to house asking for candy or they'll suffer lightweight pranks." Kaizo.

"That sounds more like extorsion." Robin.

"Well, you know what they say: 'Free candy is way better than no candy at all!' or something like that." Kaizo.

(A/N: Kaizo is EXTREMELY passionate about holydays.)

"Why're you acting this way? Are you sick?" Robin.

"I don't get sick, Robin. It's just some sort of holiday that involves these things." Kaizo.

"Ok, but I hate to tell you that no one celebrates that here." Robin.

Kaizo looked shocked, he was genuinely shocked that in this world said holidays don't exist.

"Well, how about we have our own Halloween with everyone here in Ohara?" Kaizo.

"Hm... I don't know. It doesn't feel like anyone would actually go to that event, especially given how little time's left." Robin.

"Then, I'll give free candy to anyone that's got a costume." Kaizo.

"How will you make that much candy?" Robin.

"Oh, dearly sweet and innocent Robin. I'm way ahead of you." Kaizo.

Turns out, sugar cane can be found in Ohara. Kaizo began to harvest as much cane syrup as he could ever since he found out, which was months ago.

It was a relatively simple process and he gained some money from it thanks to Prof. Clover helping him with the exchanges.

If you're asking why Clover helped him, let's just say he found amusing a kid making money at such young age.

Kaizo walked towards a tree and peeled a part of its bark, revealing a small hole. Kaizo puts his finger inside and opens up the tree through the hole, revealing a dozen and more jars of sugar cane syrup in display.

"Woah, when did you made this?" Robin.

"About four months ago, storing them under my bed was starting to get... cramped." Kaizo massaged his back.

Robin picked up a jar and opened it, the sweet flavor was to enticing and she consumed some of the syrup.

"So sweet! What will you make with all this?" Robin.

"All sorts of yummy stuff." Kaizo.

"But what are you planning to accomplish with this holyday at all?" Robin.

Kaizo sighs and crosses his arms.

"Robin, aren't you tired of how everything's going in Ohara?" Kaizo.

"Everything that's going? You mean the reading? Because I love reading." Robin.

"Nah, not that! I meant that there's literally NOTHING to do here besides reading and studying. Sure, I train and other stuff but I'd like to do something for the people as well." Kaizo.

"Even after all the bother the kids do to you?" Robin.

"Robin, a wise man once said: 'Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.' (Martin Luther King Jr.)." Kaizo.

"And that means..." Robin.

"It means that there's no reason to get mad over small matters, that said, if there's something that triggers you beyond that line, don't hold back." Robin.

"And what does that have to do with Halloween at all?" Robin.

"Look, bottom line is that Holidays bring people together and that's final. Now, are you ready to bring the scare-o-meter to 100%!?" Kaizo.

"Well, I do like the thriller genre." Robin.

"Awesome, stay still as I take your measurements for your costume. What would you like to be?" Kaizo.

Robin thought for a moment while Kaizo took her measures with a marked rope.

"A devil." Robin.

"Cool. By the way, wait here while I make invitations for everyone, and you'll then spread them around the town, aight?" Kaizo.

"Ok, I'll help you this time, but you owe me." Robin said playfully.

Kaizo nodded and quickly dashed towards the orphanage. After taking some papers and wool, he made a hundred fliers for Halloween and gave them to Robin while he worked on her costume.

With just a few minutes, Kaizo finished making Robin's costume. Good thing his miscellaneous abilities are basically perfect, except for any ability that's actually useful for a ship like medicine and overall cooking.

And now, the candy preparation. But since this isn't a cooking fanfic, I'm gonna write about the people's reaction to Robin delivering the flyers.

Robin didn't exactly interact with anyone, she just gave anyone a flier and kept running past them when they yelled at her.

"What the heck is this?" Said a male extra while looking at the flier.

'Hello, this is kinda of a last-minute thing but if you wish to have a nice party here in Ohara then don't look further. I, Kazuto D Kaizo, have prepared a special spooky Halloween party for tomorrow October 31st. Halloween is this holiday back on my home where we would dress in scare costumes to eat and share candy. Since I didn't say anything beforehand, I'll be making a heck-ton of candy to share. Please wear a costume and some scary stories. OOOOOHHHHH~!' Is what the flier says.

The flier has a drawing of a werewolf chasing Kaizo and Robin.

"This is dumb." The extra said as he took the flier and tossed it again on the ground.

Several similar comments were given to the event but the kids on the other hand were focusing on two single words of the flier "Free" and "Candy".

With enough energy to annoy their parents, the kids began to prepare their own costumes. Some went with ghosts and others with pirates but they were all mainly doing that for the candy.

Even the scholars of Ohara were intrigued by the event.

"Oho~? It seems that Kaizo has come up with something unique this time as well." Roche.

"Well, he IS surprisingly smart and remarkably productive for someone his age, even Robin, whom we deemed a genius, pales a little in comparison." Busshiri.

"Still, I've never heard of such holyday. Any guesses what it could be really about?" Rint.

"Well, from the fliers we can deduce that the main focus is the costumes, since they could be either something scary or anything else we want, I guess it could be a way to reflect what we want to be and what we're afraid of and try to overcome." Hoche.

"That sounds way too complex for a holyday that appears to be made for children." Hack.

"Hey, I'm just guessing. My guess is as good and anyone else's." Hoche.

"Well, whatever the case, we're due for a break so, let's take this chance to relax a bit." Clover.

"Well, since you've admitted that, let's enjoy this party." Gram.

"Should we put some costumes as well?" Zadie.

"Nah, I'll go like this and say I dressed as a scientist." Gram.

"You're quite lazy! But we do have an awful little amount of time before the party." Roche.

"Well, we could dress as marines, it's easy enough." Rint.

"Fair point, let's get do that for the rest of the day and we should be ready for the party since it starts at 8 o'clock." Busshiri.

"Let's begin then." Clover.

Taking a break from all that exhausting work, the group of die-hard scholars prepared themselves for Kaizo's party.

And so, the quiet island of Ohara began to experience the first holyday they've ever had since their foundation. All thanks to a kid with obsessions about earth's holydays.

(October 31st 8:00.)

The entire plaza was filled with spooky decorations, mild spooky decorations mind you, tables filled with candies and big campfire in the center of it.

All the kids immediately rushed towards the candies, they were mostly dressed as either pirates or marines with some fake swords and guns. Their parents started to regulate the candy consumption as Robin walked towards the scholars wearing her costume.

"Happy Halloween, everyone." Robin greeted them.

"Hello, Robin. Nice costume." Roche.

"Thanks, Kaizo made it for me." Robin.

"Speaking of the man of the hour, where is he?" Gram.

"He said something about a surprise and a piano." Robin.

"Well, he did manage to make so much with so little time." Hack.

"I sometimes can't believe he's just 5 years old." Hocha.

"Well, I've always said that kids these days grow way too fast for their ages." Rint.

"You're talking like an old man! Leave that to the Prof Clover here." Roche joked.

"Hey!" Clover snapped jokingly.

The group laughed as they continued to talk about diverse subjects.

Suddenly, the lights go out and everyone looks around confused, some kids got scared by the absence of light and hugged their parents whereas Robin just stood there comfortable in the dark.

Just then, a melodious piano theme began to sound on the background.

The smooth yet eerie sound of the piano resounded around the plaza through the transporter snails. Even as the melody began to ease midway, everyone could feel a sense of pressure coming from the melody.

Just then, a light illuminated on a single spot, revealing Kaizo playing the piano as he smiles wickedly while playing each key with precision.

'Who would've thought that knowing how to play instruments would be a useful skill.' Kaizo thought.

As Kaizo kept playing the tune, everyone began to feel a small chilling sensation on their skin. It was as if they were in front of an indescribable foe exuding an intimidating aura.

(It's not some power-up or anything, whomever understands why I am making too much of a deal out of her theme will get why I did.)

As Kaizo finished playing the piano, everyone finally sensed some relief, even Robin was starting to get scared.

"So...? Was it spooky? Or was it too mild?" Kaizo asked with a mischievous smile.

"MILD?! WE ALMOST CRAPPED OUR PANTS, YOU JERK!!!" The kids yelled as they rushed towards Kaizo.

Kaizo just laughed as he began to run around the plaza while laughing evilly. Robin was calmly sipping on her cocoa and enjoyed the sight of pampered brats.

Her smile called the attention of Dr. Clover.

"What makes you so happy today, Robin? You're more cheerful than usual." Clover.

"Well, it's just that I'm really enjoying this holyday." Robin said as she smiled at Kaizo.

The night ended with many kids eating candy and adults enjoying the unusual atmosphere, they even brought some food from their houses and had a nice cookout.

"Have a spooky October!" Robin.

"Happy Halloween Everybody!" Kaizo.
