Beneath the cliff raged a mighty river.
As the cliff face collapsed, the colossal Demon Hulk plunged downward, his furious eyes never leaving Hawk, who stood calmly above.
Their gazes locked.
Hawk's chest heaved as he caught his breath. He smiled faintly, lifted a hand, and waved goodbye.
"See you."
"HUUUULK!!"
SPLASH!
The enraged Demon Hulk roared, body crashing into the surging waters, swallowed whole by the current.
Sensing Hulk's aura carried swiftly downstream, Hawk exhaled, relieved.
Vibranium came first. Once he had it—and his Cloth—then he would hunt the Demon Hulk.
Raising his head, Hawk's sharpened senses took in Wakanda's true form.
Golden light spilled everywhere—not artificial lamps, but the natural glow of vast vibranium veins running like arteries through cliffs, valleys, rivers, and mountains.
There lay Wakanda's hidden lifeblood.
And ahead—sleek fighter craft already rising from a golden plaza, streaking toward him.
Hawk tore his eyes from the approaching aircraft, fixing on a distant mountain shining like a beacon. His heightened senses caught the yawning mouth of a mine within it.
"Found it!"
BOOM!
The air exploded as he vanished, reappearing, racing straight for Wakanda's sacred mountain—their heart of vibranium.
"Damn it, he disappeared!"
Pilots in pursuit caught sight of his shadow tearing through the jungle below.
"There—heading for the mountain!"
"Stop him! Open fire!"
Missiles shrieked from five vibranium fighters, streaking golden trails toward the fleeing intruder.
But Hawk halted. He turned, raised a fist—
FLASH SPEED FIST!
A storm of blows shredded ancient trees, colliding with the incoming missiles.
BOOM-BOOM-BOOM!
The sky above the jungle bloomed with fire as the missiles detonated. Hawk grinned, then resumed his dash toward the mountain mine.
"Chase him!"
The pilots moved to pursue—
Then the world shook.
"HUUUULK!!"
From the horizon, a shadow blotted out the sun.
The Demon Hulk burst free, black muscles glistening, eyes aflame, his roar shaking souls. Leaping skyward, he clamped both hands onto a fighter jet.
Vibranium hull or not, the cockpit glass was fragile.
CRACK!
Blood sprayed, and the pilots' signals cut off.
With a bellow, the Demon Hulk hurled the broken aircraft like a toy, forcing the other jets to swerve wildly.
Landing with an earth-splitting crash, the monster leapt again, pounding downhill toward Wakanda's capital.
His mind had only two commands left:
Destroy.
Annihilate.
Meanwhile, Hawk, sprinting through the forest, sensed Hulk's rampage heading away from him. He chuckled.
Perfect. Go wreak havoc while I claim the prize. Then, once armored, I'll find you again.
But Wakanda trembled.
"Father! Hawk is heading for the mountain, but the black Hulk is charging toward the city!" Shuri's voice cracked in disbelief.
"One a thief, the other a warlord…"
T'Chaka's expression hardened.
"Deploy the War Tribe. Level One War Status. The black Hulk must not reach the city."
"And the sacred mountain?"
"I'll handle it myself."
Within moments, Wakanda erupted into war.
The Dora Milaje surrounded the palace. General Okoye stood stone-faced at the command doors, spear in hand.
The Royal Guard mobilized, tanks of vibranium rumbled through the streets, fighter craft roared into the sky, missiles streaking from their wings.
Explosions hammered the Demon Hulk, tanks firing in salvos. Knocked into the river, the monster surfaced in fury, memories flashing—Hawk drowning him once before. Rage ignited. He surged ashore, fist smashing a tank to scrap.
Hawk ignored the chaos, already rising into the sky, streaking toward the sacred mountain. His boots touched its platform just as he turned—and struck.
CRACK!
A hidden figure reeled backward, cloak shimmering away. T'Chaka, in full Black Panther armor, stood revealed, vibranium spear in hand.
Energy blasted toward Hawk. He flickered aside, reappearing in front of the king, answering with a punch.
BOOM!
The blow slammed against T'Chaka's raised spear, forcing the king to one knee. Hawk followed with a kick that hurled him from the platform.
No pursuit. No distractions.
The prize awaited.
Hawk turned and entered the mine. His fists blurred, pounding the entrance, collapsing it in rubble to seal himself within.
Deeper and deeper he descended, golden light growing ever brighter.
Until at last—
The mountain's heart revealed itself.
Vibranium. Vast, luminous, endless.
Hawk's breath hitched, then his lips curled in exultation.
FLASH SPEED FIST!
His fists erupted in shadows once more, tearing into the mountain, stone collapsing in thunder.
He became a miner, a thief, a Saint-in-the-making.
One thought burned in his mind:
Mine the vibranium.
Forge the Cloth.
