Chapter 1 - The World Of Demon Slayer

Bang!

Bang bang!

"Moonlit night, darkness, beware the demons—"

"Who's running around at this hour, making demon noises instead of sleeping?" Li Qingming opened his eyes.

But everything before him felt completely unfamiliar.

A low, dim wooden ceiling. A half-open sliding Japanese-style door.

Li Qingming realized he was lying on a tatami mat, wearing a linen robe.

He sat up and felt something oily by his side. By the moonlight, he saw it was an overturned oil lamp.

"Where am I? I wasn't I at the internet café all night? Damn, I was so close to reaching Gold rank!"

Looking at the Japanese-style decorations around the room, Li Qingming recalled memories that weren't his own.

The original body belonged to Abe Qingming, a sixteen-year-old boy living in a small rural village with his grandfather, making a living farming.

"Did I transmigrate? Soul transfer? Or is this some modern island country? No anime, no games—how am I supposed to survive?"

Li Qingming examined his surroundings, slowly calming down. "The conditions are rough… but much better than my original world."

He felt no attachment to his previous world.

He wasn't afraid; he had always been alone.

His parents divorced when he was five and remarried. In elementary school, he was fostered by a teacher, and in middle school, he was sent to a closed-off school.

His parents rarely visited, and parent-teacher meetings were attended by someone he hired.

By high school, their care amounted to just 800 yuan per month. Sometimes he overheard them arguing over that small sum.

"Well… I guess this is a relief for everyone," he thought.

For him, it was the best possible ending for all involved.

Flashes of the original owner living with his grandfather crossed his mind, and Li Qingming felt a flicker of anticipation for his new life.

He felt no real connection to family, but curiosity stirred about living with someone else.

"Why could he smile so happily… like a fool?"

He had long forgotten how to smile like that.

Suddenly, a strong stench of blood reached him. The original owner's memories revealed their final, tragic scene.

Late at night, a starving wolf—or something like it—broke into the house. The grandfather fought it outside.

The original owner tried to help with an oil lamp but accidentally fell. The memory ended there.

Li Qingming replayed the image in his mind. "Was that really a wolf? It looks more like a monkey or a baboon…"

He stood and walked out of the house.

Pale moonlight fell on the courtyard, stained with blotches of blood.

Li Qingming's breathing quickened.

From the right side, he heard strange sounds—creatures feeding.

The strong smell of blood hit his nose like falling into an icy pit.

Turning, he saw a figure with disheveled hair, sitting on the ground, holding something and devouring it.

He couldn't tell if it was human or demon.

In front of it was a shriveled, human-like figure, motionless and soaked in blood.

Was that… his grandfather?

His stomach twisted, threatening to vomit, but the anger in his blood overrode fear and discomfort.

This anger was justified—the key person had been killed by that demon-like creature!

Grabbing an axe by the door, Li Qingming charged.

"Beast! Give me back my grandfather!"

The words sounded familiar—but now he truly meant them.

The creature turned its head slowly at his shout, eyes slanted and bloodshot, pupils like a cat's.

Though its face was covered in blood, it still looked human. Its ghastly pale face was terrifying under the moonlight.

Was it a zombie?

But its gaze was far more terrifying than any zombie.

Suddenly, the creature spoke:

"Whoa, a child! Tender and delicate… looks delicious. Don't worry, I'll send you to reunite with your grandfather."

It could speak?! Not a zombie!

Island country, night, cannibal demon.

Li Qingming's mind raced through countless demon settings and finally landed on Demon Slayer.

A deadly demon! A world where even the main character barely survives!

Suddenly, the demon lunged at him like a ravenous wolf.

Looking at the blood-soaked demon, Li Qingming thought only one thing:

I must survive!

[Ding!]

"Host's determination detected. Infinite Achievement System activated. Complete achievements quickly to grow stronger!"

Congratulations! "System Activation" achievement completed. Reward: Nichirin Sword!

The system was late—but never absent.

Li Qingming, both surprised and delighted, took out the Nichirin sword.

The Nichirin sword—a must-have weapon for killing demons.

He swung the blade like hitting a baseball at the demon.

The demon was surprised to see a long sword in his hands but didn't retreat.

Buzz! The sword struck the demon's arm, embedding into bone.

Didn't cut through?!

Li Qingming's hands ached from the impact. He tried to pull it out, but the bone held fast.

The demon narrowed its eyes, raising its other hand to grab Li Qingming by the neck:

"A child who doesn't know swordsmanship dares to kill me? Tell me, where did you get that Nichirin sword?!"

Pain shot through Li Qingming's neck. His feet lifted off the ground, and breathing became difficult.

He didn't know swordsmanship and had never wielded a sword—this full-force strike couldn't even sever the demon's arm.

Was he about to die just after transmigrating?

God-tier pacing…

[Congratulations! "First Sword Swing" achievement unlocked. Reward: Water Breathing (Basic)]

Li Qingming's mind filled with Water Breathing knowledge. He felt his body immersed in water, every cell transforming.

Breathing.

Hiss—

White mist like flowing water exhaled from his mouth. His internal organs burned, muscles and bones ignited.

Though still held by the neck, he no longer felt pain.

The demon sensed the change. In an instant, a tremendous power seemed ready to erupt—but it was too late.

Second Form: Water Wheel!

The sword moved like flowing water, forming a circular arc. Both the demon's arms flew into the air.

Li Qingming rolled and landed, sword at his waist.

"How… is this possible?!"

The demon hadn't even seen what happened. Shocked, it stared at the young swordsman.

Crack.

The sword returned to its sheath. The demon's head fell, turning to ashes in the air.

Its expression: disbelief.

"From now on, I, Li Qingming, replace Abe Qingming as the master of this body. I've avenged my grandfather."
