This morning, Ariana walked into her classroom feeling a little excited but also slightly anxious. As soon as she noticed Ethan choosing his seat, her heart fluttered. Instead of his usual spot, he chose the desk directly in front of her.
Ariana swallowed. Her heart was pounding unusually fast. The moment he sat down, he sat slightly sideways, as if his eyes were watching her the entire time. She kept her head down, trying to focus on her notebook, but she couldn't shake the feeling of his gaze.
About half an hour into the class, Lucas came to sit near Ariana to talk about a group project.
"What do you think of this idea?" he asked, giving her a smile. Ariana smiled back and started explaining her own idea. They laughed together naturally. Suddenly, Ariana noticed Ethan glance over at Lucas. His gaze... was filled with displeasure.
Was it possible that Ethan didn't like Lucas sitting close to her?
Lucas seemed oblivious. He continued to chat and laugh with Ariana naturally, but Ethan remained seated sideways, covertly watching their every move. Ariana started to feel the tension and her heart pounded even faster because of the unusual atmosphere.
During the class, Ethan began to watch Ariana more frequently. Sometimes he would lean over to look at her notebook on purpose. Other times, he'd subtly move his chair a little closer to her desk. But the moment Lucas spoke or laughed with her, Ethan's eyes would instantly lock onto Lucas with clear disapproval. Ariana secretly watched the two guys in front of her. She could feel the unspoken tension and emotions. Her heart pounded, not just because of Ethan, but because of the complicated relationship between these two boys.
During a short break, Ariana looked up at Ethan. He gave a small smirk before turning back to his notebook. But the look he had secretly given her was filled with displeasure, as if saying without words, "I don't like anyone bothering you near me."
Lucas, even if he didn't notice, could feel the difference between a friend and a rival. Ariana herself felt confused. She wanted everything to be normal, but she couldn't help but enjoy the closeness with both of them.
The class ended. Ariana slowly packed up her notebook, but she couldn't help but sneak one last glance at Ethan before he got up and left the desk. Lucas also walked out slowly, as if trying to hide his own displeasure.
Today, Ariana realized that Ethan might not be just an ordinary classmate anymore, and Lucas had just made the situation even more complicated. Her heart was caught between the fun, the excitement... and the uncertainty.
