My trembling hands fumbled with the soft fabric as my heart thudded wildly in my chest. Whatever was happening around me did little to calm the storm inside.
I had been in the washroom for what felt like an eternity. Every creak, every distant sound made me feel as though the door would burst open at any moment, with Alpha Enzo standing there, watching me. Even though I knew he wasn't here, the thought of his piercing eyes crawling over me made my skin prickle.
The bottle of lavender soap slipped from my grasp and clattered against the tiles, jolting me out of my thoughts, just as a firm knock echoed at the door.
"Should I assume my help is needed in there?" came that deep, taunting voice.
I gulped nervously and grabbed the white towel by the door, wrapping it around me on instinct.
My eyes widened. My arms flew to my chest, heaving for air as the handle buckled, but it lasted only a fleeting second before stopping. My heart pounded wildly.
